Hello,
My first time posting and submitting. I was curious how many people are at g7 with hs. I feel pretty fortunate, considering it’s my first submission. How ever, I’ve got 7 years of blood, sweat, rejection, elation, disapointment, yes’s, no’s, i suck, it’s great, i’d buy one, nope go fish, you ought to do this,……yadayadayadaaaaaa. Probably, alot of you can identify with this?…..uh??Forums » Branding/Packaging » Topic

if you have this much time in it why are you here>? i mean you`ve done 90% of the work and now you want to lose most of your profits , why? i would continue on my own, the payoff is gonna be better. also why did you post the same thread twice? well good luck with your idea |

I accidently posted twice. I didn’t think branding was the right place for this.
You bring up some great points. I’m at a point where I’m out of money, I’ve invested 20k. I need another 16k to start the asian market with not knowing how enforceable a contract would be with them. I do have an opportunity though.
I have a full time job ( as do 95%) of the people here. To do the importing, warehousing, advertising, distribution, accounting ect…I don’t have the time and frankly, just tired of all the bs. at this point, I just want SOMETHING.
I’ve tried knocking on doors and had some close deals but all I got was close.
I maybe short changing, I’m not sure if I can opt out at this time anyhow….my gut tells me to go with my deal in china….the problem is, once it appears there, it will get knocked off and beat me to the US market. I may not be getting a patent……So it’s a race. in my book.
My brain is just mush right now with all the work, time and money invested. My wife’s gettin’ tired of hearing how I ’ve “really” found someone to help us this time and not have it pan out.
PLEASE, please, please give me some more insight and your opinion, the vodca doesn’t cut it anymore…. |

Roger Brown or Mark Reynolds is most likely your best bet for good info and no B.S |

Hi Steven, if you’re at the G7 stage, you’re committed to EN and HS until you’re either given a licensing contract or they reject it. If you’re this far, I’d hang through the process and if HS doesn’t want it you’ve still got all your options after that. |

thanks Tony Joe, Mike I live in Ohio. I guess all I can do is see what happens. Thanks for the input. |

Steven, Well done on the HS G7. I’m hanging in there also. Maybe it’s Ohio’s turn! Go Cavs (also)!!! Dean |

Holly Tucker

It’s only tied up while at G7 or G8. Once it goes R8, it is released immediately. |

holly i was under the impression that if it was shown to the company that it was tied up for 6 months incase they change their mind. |

Hi, |

maria if your friend has alot money into her idea why did she submit it to EN?? |

Maria Gale

Good Question! She is a widow and works and Mom who has spent so much (ten thousand plus) on the graphics and prototypes. I have two Provisional Patents and Trademarks and she knows the expense involved. She was tapped out, plus rejections. The great thing about the Internet, and I hope you all share this, if her project is chosen and published online and in the HS Magazine which we all take and read on flights, I am going to set her up with her own website to advertise online for under 100.00 a month. That will present her product to everyone and where they can purchase it. She can pick area codes, it will be on Facebook, Google, Twitter etc., and for that price she has presented her own product that someone else has produced marketed insured and shipped. Then it becomes the NEXT BIG HIT! |

PS. I will pay for her advertising. I believe in her that much!!! If we are here we all have a yearning to succeed! |

Robert, not everyone has guts/money/support/health/emotions/abilities/knowledge/you-name-it to continue the process of bringing a product up to the market, once it started. We can start fresh and full of hopes, but give up after so many outbreaks. It is a situation when you still believe in your idea but running empty, and then finding such place as EN feels like you are finally in safe and pleasant land of Hope, where you can take a couple of breathes and recuperate from the stress. |

Steven, I do believe that hardly anyone can give you the exat numbers of what is happening out there behind that door. |

Robert, I know you questioned me on why I’m here at en with so much invested. It made me look into the compensation deal you get awarded and it’s not bad. I believe outside of en licensing agreements are typically structured close to 7-10% of wholesale sell price after costs. ( not cost of production) but more administrative, advertising, returns, ect…. EN in my eyes is a fair deal. I’ve worked my *ss off for 7 years…….it is difficult and not for the timid to go it alone. For instance, for $25.00 EN evaluates, preliminary patent search, market analysis, price point and lines you up with a company that is willing to purchase your idea. They did in 3 months what took me 7 yrs. Maybe I’m a slow learner. But doing it alone takes boat loads of time and money. Not to mention weeding out the people and/ or companies that don’t have your best interests in mind that just string you along milking you like a brown jersey cow. My point being, for them to to what they do and still offer a competitive compensation as a individual deal may be….kudo’s to them. I hope I’m not coming across confrontational-that’s not my intent and I apologize if I do. I just think that EN is probably the best resource for us inventors that don’t have the time, money and most important, the connections to take a product from concept to market. |

Steven, John Meacham usually posts all of the announcements about the various presentations on the thread: Official Q & A for Live Product Search. This is where he mentioned how many were presented and how many were still in the running. That is also the thread he watches for questions as it is an official EN thread. Hope this helps! |

steven i understand what you are saying…for many years i`ve had ideas with nothing to do with them only to watch them come to market years later. |

Steven, I agree with one thing…people can sit on a product for years…And spend thousands getting it ready for someone to HOPEFULLY be willing to give you a licensing deal…The thing I have learned by doing some research is that a lot of expenses that companies are charging people for, were things I can eventually do myself… My husband came up with a great idea about 12 years ago…We contacted an invention company….Turns out “It was a Rip Off”…They only wanted us to remortgage our home to pay their fees….Not happening….So we got frustrated and gave up our ideas all together there for awhile… But as years went on I realized…We have some great ideas just wasting away in a notebook…So I started right here on my research journey…I have met people…Learned things that will help me get a lot farther than I ever imagined…Most of the things I was being charged for, are things I can do myself…Good Luck….Never give up!! |

Hi everyone Looks like I am one of the “11” Maria mentioned and HS has my proto for evaluation. Very exciting. My idea is pretty advanced, a few tweaks for production, and they could have manufactured units in couple months. During the past three years with this project I have learned a lot, and still believe EE is the best way to get product on the market. A wise friend I met along the journey has seen many good products that suffered from lack of funds to advertise & market. These costs can run 5 – 10x more than development, so if your struggling to pay for patents, trademarks, incorporating, engineering, etc, going to market alone is very risky. |

hey scott, I wish you good luck! I too have a factory made prototype w/ all the cad files ready for production. I too found the marketing/distribution side to be the most difficult. Congrats on making it this far!! |

My G7 got rejected, and I remain dissapointed with this process. Seems like all EN wants is that 10 bucks a month. Thousands of inventors with very few successes. And what about season 4? |

Hello Scott, Sorry about your disappointment and I hope that you continue to participate in searches. Today I announced 4 inventors whose inventions were selected through Live Product Searches, and yesterday I announced 2, so there are plenty of success stories. Please also note that you do not have to pay $10 a month, Gold Membership is optional. Season 3 of Everyday Edisons is scheduled to air next year, and casting calls will follow. As soon as we secure the cities and dates we will announce them right here on the Edison Nation website. Thanks |
