How do you keep a record of what you entered? You can not see what name you chose after you submit it?

call me a fool but I cannot see this one, working at all, it just arouses suspicion, it has got to be a complete quicksand of intellectual property, as if that area (intellectual property rights) was not bad enough |

From another thread on Name Search I don’t think they are up yet… However, If you look on your dashboard under the “Name Search” it should say “You have submitted 1 idea” hope this helps… |

Hello, That is correct, the tech team is still working on the naming dashboard you will be able to view, but for now under the “Name Search” you should be able to see you submitted a name. Thanks |

Thanks Penny and Maria……I also kinda agree with Brendan and along with my name choice I gave in my thoughts and suggesstions for consideration in making this search work and possibly get more to entertain entering. As it is now, i think there will be a very small percentage entering this search. |

I am EN’s #1 fan. I am sure many will dispute this claim, so I am ready to settle and share this distiction. Let’s say I am just one of the many #1 fans. That said, I just want to offer the following comments regarding the name searches: 1) EN refers to the Branding aspect of marketing as: “No amount of engineering or design can substitute for a strong brand and identity that instantly connects customers with a product.” 2) There are many instances reflecting these assertions: Snapple, Coke, McDonalds, Windows, IBM and many other examples. These brands actually got powerful as a result of good marketing strategies (Including product quality) that positioned the product as a true winner. In other words, the product and its marketing established the brand as equity. In this scenario the value of the brand is a result of the quality of the product and its marketing, and not necessarily a decisive factor in the success of the product (upon launching th product). 3) The name searches aspire the winning brands to be an element in positioning the product(s). (As opposed to being fortified by a very high quality product and costly and lengthy marketing efforts.) In this scenario the value of the brand at its inception is much more important than the case discussed in #2 above. The brand is expected to be a leading factor. Maybe the brand “Wii” is a good example. The name suggests a number of things in different languages, and it has very strong phonetic and diction merits. This was a planned brand unlike many other Japanese brands. Very likely, this has been a contributing factor in the huge success of the product. 4) Creativity, specially when applied to marketing, is more often than not hard work, involving research and a lot of thinking, idea association, second guessing and questioning, etc. Also, In the name searching LPS’s some people would like to propose slogans, and other marketing suggestions. People with graphic skills may like to also propose logos and other visual ideas. 5) $500 is not a great amount of money these days. It is not inconceivable to submit a whole bunch of different names. 20, 50, even 100 (Many ideas may branch and generate other ideas) . At $5 per idea any eventual return might be in the negative, and that is without factoring a very low hourly wage for creative work, that you could be billing to clients on free-lancing basis. 6) The attractive in these ventures with a very low likelihood of success, is and should always be the likelihood of a high return, on contingency basis. Whether is only 0.X% of net revenues, royalties are the goal. Just MHO’s with the best of intentions for everybody. Happy New Year, all. |

Joaco, your post has merit. I, too, can appreciate the degree of brainwork and creativity that goes into branding any product; and there are so many benefits of strong branding that could last in perpetuity. EN, your thoughts? |

all human beings are mad but where in human affairs do maddness stop and sanity begin, some companies for example will accept inventions but not trademarks etc.(i think) it is ok if you believe it can work, destiny is everything, but people before us, perhaps have conjured up images of complete squabbling nonsense from this, mind you this, ‘angel wings’ en have a great response to challenge —none no reply, no feedback,(understandable)not a dishonest or illogical concept in itself but I think they might be pushing it with the name business to be honest, en seem to me to be a little too interested in collecting the $20 at all cost, all the flag flying and en worship is just our servitude to an imagined masters who we think have our destiny in their hands |

in fairness to them, all companies in our capitalist world do the same |

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. The name search is a new opportunity for inventors here at Edison Nation, and it may not be for everyone. However the way we see it is we appreciate the creativity of our community and thought why not present them with another challenge. We are not asking for a full marketing strategy, just a name. If you happen to have a great idea, you may submit it for $5 in hopes to turn that into $500. |

Hi Maria, I am sure most realize the opportunity with the “Name chellenge”, however, I believe to make more go for this, a little tweaking may be necessary. For instance; what if one who submits a name comes close to the final brand name, shouldn’t one be compensated somewhat? If not the $500, perhaps, $300, $250, $200, $100?……and for that matter, what if one creative person fired the spark to the final name if they didn’t nail it at first, shoudn’t they be allowed to offer a few more names or a derivative of the first along with their submission. Afterall, the prize is just $500 to the $5 entering charge. If it were a $5,000, I can see where one would pay more for each name. |

I think the 5 dollar charge is someone in there looking at the submission figures and thinking “how much can we multiply that by” |

as always, in fairness, i must add it is a fun site , but if you put too much emphasis on it, you could become bitter, my experience is, keep it in perspective, if they have integrity in there, then it is all good clean fun like the lottery, |
