Just wanted to pass some info along. I subscribe to this website called “Big Idea Group” and they notified me via email that they are looking for some ideas. The announcement read as follows:

" ABCO is seeking innovative concepts for small, clever, innovative gifts to accompany their gift cards. Deadline for this Hunt is April 16, 2009. Royalty potential for winning concepts is tremendous as similar items have sold a million or more pieces. Multiple submissions are strongly encouraged."

Check out the following website for more info:

http://www.bigideagroup.net/inventors/hunt_abco_index.htm

There is NO cost to enter. I know people are always looking to submit ideas while saving a few bucks, so I thought I’d share that info I received in my email inbox today. Good luck to all who enter.

I think they said ideas of interest would be contacted by mid-June.

I got the following from them today:
Wanted: Female shoppers to review and evaluate product videos

If you’re a female shopper interested in innovative products, we’d like to talk to you. We’re launching an online focus group that includes women like you. We have two weeks of online activities, and you can choose to get involved in one or both weeks.

Click the link below to join the Shoppers Insight Club—or forward this email and link to a friend who might be interested: http://www.bigideaclubs.net/

Regards,

Tanya Adams

I was in some of these clubs in 2007/2008 and meet some nice folks and won a few prizes.

Just make sure you read over the agreement carefully in regards to their rights of assigning your invention ideas to others and how you finally get paid.

Probably to late for that – since some of us have already submitted ideas to them. Do you have some bad experience we should know about?

My experience is that they wanted to take my BeerClip and license it giving me approx 5% royalties. Problem is they are allowed to sub license it to another company (they own a couple) without your input or authorization. It can easily become a pyramid type of set up where by the time the royalty gets back to you, your 5% is diluted down to more like 1/2% potentially. I never signed with them so I do not know if it would have happened this way or if it happened to others.

i`m gonna ask and may start a fire.
but doesnt it seem wrong to be on a site that is trying to you bring your idea to market
and promote another site?
i`ve seen this happen on here many times?
its just a question
it would kinda be like owning a chevy dealership and your mom buying a ford

Robert, I agree with you for most outside promotions on the EN forum. I did submit a few ideas to the Big Idea. It was for a cheap gift card “accessory”, which I feel was non-competitive to the EN LPS’s , but if it were a direct competitor of EN, than I think I would have a problem with it.

For this particular instance, I look at as owning a Chevy dealership and your Mom buying a moped. Both transportation, but not in direct competition. Besides, I don’t need either, I have bionic legs to get me around:)

We all need to respect EN and their investment in helping each one of us success.

Just got an email from Big Idea and one of my entries for the ABCO gift card hunt has made it into the semi-finals which means the ABCO company is now evaluating the product idea. Probably won’t know anything else for a couple more months. Anyone else make it?

Don,

I just saw your post here. Disregard my email to you.
For those that don’t know, Don was one of the ideas chosen from almost 600 entries.

CONGRATULATIONS DON!

I submitted three ideas, but I guess I got the equivalent to the EN red X on them…

Thanks for your congratulations. Being a semi-finalist is very much like getting a G7 in the EN world. Hopefully I will know something more in few months.

I think sooner, Don. Congrats & good luck. I am in the semi finals too. Did you send anything for the newer ABCO search?

Hi Luis, Congratulations to you as well and I hope we will know sooner what products will be licensed. I also entered a few ideas to the newer ABCO search as well. Don’t know about you, but I found the newer search more difficult than the first one. Best of luck.

Just curious….BIG says they are an “open source” innovation company.
I am trying to understand what this means? Are your ideas available to anyone to use/update?

Also…. By submitting an idea to an “open source” company and EN at the same time, does this create a conflict?
