Good names, didn’t think of one, even though I was really focusing on the breakaway/getaway/escape angle. Damn thesaurus.

Norwegian Cruise Line Selects Finalist Names for Two New Ships

.Norwegian Cruise Line has selected five finalist names in its contest to name its two new “Project Breakaway” ships scheduled for delivery in April 2013 and April 2014. The line received 230,000 entries over the four-week entry period.

The finalist names are Norwegian Bliss, first submitted by David Menker of Dallas; Norwegian Breakaway, first submitted by Kimberly Powell of Lafayette, La.; Norwegian Escape, first submitted by Joseph Funigiello of Naples, Fla.; Norwegian Getaway, first submitted by Dennis Hultman of Vienna, Va.; and Norwegian Journey, first submitted by Florence Pflaster of Carolina Shores, N.C.

The finalist names were selected by Norwegian. The line will announce the two winning names on Sept. 13. The winners will receive a trip for two to the first ship’s inaugural festivities, including the christening ceremony (date and location are yet to be determined). The trip includes roundtrip coach airfare for two, ground transportation, balcony stateroom accommodations (double occupancy), onboard meals, and government taxes and fees.

The contest entry period ran from July 18 to Aug. 14. According to the official rules, the contestant who was the first (according to the date and time stamp on the online submission) to submit a specific name in accordance with the criteria was eligible to be considered as a finalist. The contest was run in concert with USA Today. The 144,017-ton Project Breakaway ships will have approximately 4,000 passenger berths.

I found two great words in the thesaurus that mean pause or break (unless goodol already submitted them) : lacuna and caesura. I don’t know if my dead end job would allow me to take two vacations.
