I did the same – the day after Turkey Day. I am in the status of G3 and G4 for the searches I submitted to (SKIL and ASOTV) but other than that, I have no idea how the process goes. I am excited, my prototype and product truly have mass market appeal, and is just a plain ol’ good idea. I am hopeful, and I am back at my workbench coming up with a couple of other items to submit. My main questions (if anyone knows) are, when do other companies submit for searches, and is there any guidelines for expected time-lines? It would be helpful for a rookie like me. Cheers, Tim |

T, I’m 3 months new in to this process. Start searching past forum posts that may coincide with you. There is some good, bad, ugly, great input. It’s all relative to educate and lower your investment risk. One guy paid $10,000 to a invention submission company for a great looking notebook of his invention and nothing more, he could have done himself. We all owe him a big thx for taking one for the team and sharing his experience. Look for “Invention Home” forum? inventor beware…due diligence pays & saves your a..! As far as I know the searches are random as companies seek a market to hit. A numbers game. |

Thanks for the note. Am I able to keep adding to my ideas? Even after they have been submitted? I did shoot and upload a video of me and my product, it worked like it is supposed to, and after seeing the mass market appeal (visual and as mentioned in the video) is very apparent I wanted to film a testimonial from a friend who tested a prototype for me and had 100% satisfactory results, but i did not want to “upset the apple cart” after the search closed and the SKIL or ASOTV folks were looking over the materials I had provided. Yep, as far as I can tell, this is a big dose of trust, as well as a large amount of give and take for the folks at EN. As I see it, most of us have full time jobs, but wish we were successful enough to push our ideas to market. I had neither the time nor the expertise, so I am willing to sign over the “stuff” to EN for the hope for 20 years of royalties. How about you? |

T, I kept working my G6 and sold it to another company, so I opted out of Edison Nation ASOTV pls. I will be back with other ideas to submit. EN is growing…the last thing they need is a disgruntled inventor and turn their name in to MUD like other invention companies. For example: if you got a G2 start adding MORE proof for #3 and build your product up. This way you don’t give up your TRADE SECRETS |

ooops…. I started this forum to get previous EE inventors to tell us about their experience on the tv show. There are some in the other forums. Everyone here is trying to get ahead…and I have been having a good experience so far. log in, dashboard, ideas….then the edit button is next to the apple chart/stages. |

D What company did you end up selling your G6 to? I’d love any details about how you approached them, if you got a licensing deal, and any other juicy details you’re willing to tell. I had a R4 from the Spencer Gifts light search that I ended up getting picked up by Spencer’s on my own. Just waiting for the ink to dry before sharing some details. Thanks. Jason |

Cool J, Too new to give that info up. They are not a invention company. They are in the same industry as my product. I will share when the time is right. I had been tweaking it and selling online for 2 years. I had all the proof to venture it myself. I started a new innovation with a bigger plans so I decided to sell my previous here on EN. But I gott a better deal elsewhere. what terms did you get? had to ask, but it’s not something I would share…it’s not important. |

Everyday Edison product EMERY CAT: COMPLAINT sent to EDISON NATION SUPPORT From: Dallas Wood I feel that a company of your repretation should be more careful of the companeis that it works with. I just came off the web after reading about 20 complants about a company that you represent. (emerycat). this outfit is ripping people off right and left. I called there order line this morning and by the time they get done with you, well, I not sure what I ordered. Very misleading. unnessasary and very bad business printcipals. Now after reading a number of complants from others, I can now look forward to having extra charges on my account. what should have been around $36.00 has been reported to end up near 80. or 90.00 ddot:The above complaint is not unusual when a new product is launched. Of course due diligence could have made for a better outcome. Yes, inconvenience to customer and they will get a credit returned in time. The matter must be resolved asap to not SNOWBALL and cause sales to drop off due to many complaints. You as the inventor, need to stay on top of your business at hand even though others are making decisions for you. just my opinion, |

Hi all, Just thought I’d take a minute to peek in and post.I am a season 3 inventor and will be on the upcoming season of Everyday Edisons. I am also the only person to have an idea selected for the original ASOTV search. I’d like to say I have lots to tell you about the experience but unfortunately don’t at this point. I have only been down to Enventys once for the initial meet and greet and filming. I was given a camera and did some filming at home of my family and their thoughts on the whole thing but that’s it so far. The season was pushed back to give them more time to better develop the items and the show is now slated for a 1st quarter of 2010 release. I’m told we’ll be back for the big reveal and final filming sometime between now and then starting in January. I honestly have no idea what they have done, who is interested or anything at all about the show idea which I presented at the Providence RI casting call so very long ago. As for the ASOTV item I saw a first prototype that was pretty much exactly what I had made in wood only now it was in plastic and then it was followed up a couple months later with another series of conceptual working prototypes of different ways to make the item. They were experimenting with simplifying the item and cutting down on costs. I again have no idea what its current status is and hope it’s still doing well and they are making headway on the item. I can say though that EN/Everyday Edisions/Enventys is a great company staffed by knowledgeable people. I know my ideas couldn’t be in better hands. I was very impressed with the staff when I was down for filming and have every confidence that I will have 2 products on the market through them in the near future. I hate that I don’t know more about what is going on but understand that it’s needed to keep the suspense for the show. Not sure why I haven’t been told more about the ASOTV item but I do have faith they are progressing with it. When I learn more I’ll tell more and I look forward to the future with hope that one day I’ll make enough money off some of these ideas to fund a few for myself and hopefully get a new house and put my kids through college. I’m working hard at making that happen and I’m using my inventive skills combined with EN’s business sense and connections to take my best shot. Can’t wait until the show airs or my ASOTV product gets released so I can talk about them. I know you’ll all want one of each! |

PlAvery85…thanks for stepping up and sharing your current EN/EE experience. I/we look forward to more updates as time marches on. It’s not surprising EN keeps a lid on their progress. How would anyone want a person looking over your shoulder while building a new innovation or just at work. Trial and error is part of making progress. I know you don’t need to read me say, but others may. “This is not the time to wait til they invite you back. Start or enhance your nxt submission”. |
