This is an exciting oppportunity.
“We will announce the Season 5 online casting call schedule in January 2012!”
So, to be on EE not only would we have to have a great idea but then also have to be camera ready and on top of that… Do we film our journey?
I want to go out for this. Who else is?
Now I have to conjure the right “Idea”. Nervous, just thinking about it!

James, here is a link to last year’s casting call… http://www.edisonnation.com/live_product_search... There were different categories to submit to. I would just focus on inventing great products, the details of the casting call will be released soon.

Chris,
Matt wrote Chris, there will be a Season 5 but we’re fully focused on Season 4 right now. We haven’t even discussed the casting call format although Greg is right – last year’s format worked very well and we loved having the opportunity to fly so many inventors in to Charlotte to meet everybody and see our facility.
You do know that you can upload a video of yourself doing the same presentation that you would do in person, right? The only difference is that you can edit it to make sure it’s perfect, if you want. If a video can’t properly explain or sell your idea, do you really think the product will be a hot seller? If it requires a live one-on-one sales person to sell it to each end user, it better have an MSRP befitting of that sales strategy (as in tens of thousands of dollars). I’m not trying to be negative – I just want to make sure you see it from a sales perspective, which will do nothing but help you convince us it’s a great product that will sell well if we pick it.
Has anything changed? Could you provide a link?

Chappy, don’t be nervous, it’s the same as any other search.
I was one of those with just an idea, like Betsy’s eggies only different.
It was and still is G-7 in the Nautilus search. I opted in to EE.
Now I must watch my life flash before me on the big screen. lol
Chris and Patricia, it’s the same as all the searches to get in..opt in or 20 bucks for a new submission.
Good luck everybody in becomming a season 5 EE.
Eric, Maura and the rest of season 4 finalist, I hope we get to go back to NC. I would very much enjoy the opportuity to see you all again. Much sucess with your inventions.

Very exciting Eric, Maura and all the rest of the cast … Can’t wait to see you all. Are you saying acerbic you can opt in others you might have ?? I thought it was original first time entries only? If so, definitely a game changer for many of us …

My life exciting, hardly…thanks to EE’s creative editing, I might look like a world adventurer:-). Chris the charges should be the same as a regular LPS $0, $20 or $25. See…look at Maura!

I was just looking for the online casting call… is season 5 available yet?
Eric,
you must be stoked… Question: how much filming of your own do you have to do? Have you already done your filming?

I agree with Eric. I had one at G7 which turned into R8 and i re- submitted for the show. Now i am one of the 10 on the show. I had a working prototype.

Penster, besides the audition, I provided footage of “my life”. I know EE has been shooting my product’s development in house. I believe some participants have been filmed and various events.

Yes, EE-4 was the first season to use the online format. If it is last year’s you will submit into the EE-5 LPS. Your ideas will move up the dashboard stages like usual. Those that become G7 will be flown EN to audition. There were 50 ideas, about 43 people, that went back. If I recall, 15 were chosen from those 50, then ultimately the final 10.

Eric,
I understand that the application/audition is online now. Is the process similar to how you submit ideas on EN? Thanks!

James, your idea does not need to be “camera-ready”. I am aware of a participant or two in EE-4 that did not have a prototype. You and your product should be interesting. I found it helpful to look at past EE selections. My suggestion is to opt-in as many as you can, tweaking them if appropriate. I think I opted-in about 40 and had a few original submissions. I concentrated especially on those that went R at 7 or 8. If you are asked to fly to Charlotte to audition, you can make or perfect your prototype prior to your pitch.
