True, but I mean it in the sense that it is not something that would be built but rather chemically created and tested.

Are devices that are mechanical not scientific creations?

Are products picked for the show (or just in general on this website) have to be of the widget/gadget variety? Let’s say, for example, I had an idea for a new kind of laundry detergent and my submission was more of a scientific creation rather than mechanical. Even if it is a good idea, would it make it past the initial stages? Wasn’t sure what type of testing facilities EN has for those types of innovations?

It’s an exciting time for all the things going on with EE and the ideas! I have been trying to check out these forms everyone is talking about for the casting call. Can we fill these forms out prior to the casting call and where can we go online to get these forms?

How are you today! Can I still resubmit the same idea into another fund! I am just getting ready for inevitable red X. Innovation can sometimes lead me away from the simplistic manner of design in which most websites of this nature are looking for! I am not finished just starting over and looking for improvement in my ideas. Thank you for your time!

Andrea, will you be picking products from posted ideas from all inventors that you really like and ASKING them to come or do we have to POST THE IDEAS to be considered into that search and pay?

Sorry David I shouldn’t be mean to Madinosaur. It must be this Season 5 casting call. Season 4 is already old news and we haven’t even aired yet. Talk about a quick fifteen minutes. My therapist says I’m experiencing a normal jeolousy toward someone as longstanding as Madonnamoses.
Margaret : D : D “break a hip” that must be what I felt too.

Greg, I had mixed feelings about Madonna’s half-time show. Part of me thought she was getting too old and was worried she would break a hip, and the other part of me was impressed that she she still had that kind of performance in her (minus the singing, of course). I really enjoyed watching Will Ferrell flipping around on the slack line though :). (I seriously did think it was Will Ferrell at first).

Sorry Charlie. I think we have to come up with something new, otherwise we are in danger of looking as worn out and ridiculous as Madonna’s half time performance.

I love EE but the one reason I havent tried to be on it before is the whole in depth background shown on the show about the inventor. I really don’t care to have everyone know everything about my personal life. I would be happy with: I exist. I’m here. Here is my invention. Thanks!

One thing that is a little different with EE casting call submissions is that they are looking for ideas that can be developed within a year (unless that has changed). Other requirements:
• Appeal to a broad or mass market
• Be considered consumer products
• Have high marketing and sales volume potential

Betsy, Thanks again. Your tip helped tremendiously. You told me not to worry about the picth, because if you forget one word, you’ll be trying to remember it. So I remember Louis saying goodmorning, me repling with goodmorning, pausing for 20 seconds and saying is that a wrap? you can ask questions now.
So I guess what I can advise to this years hopefulls is to concentrate on inventing.
If your product is liked by a search sponser or EN…that is plenty. A good or bad pitch won’t make or break it. It might not be want EE wants for the show, but in the end..it’s all about the product. Good luck to everyone this year. Aloha
Ps. Greg, can we opt in our entry from last years casting call?lol

Betsy…
I’m honestly tooo “chicken” to get out from behind my nice “safe” avatar… I’m impressed with the folks who can pitch themselves and lyk presenting… Awesome gift! That’s why I love EN so much, all I gotta do is come up with off the wall ideas, and EN does all the hard stuff!
BTW, thanks to you on a seperate note… You were the inspiration on one of my recent kooky ideas… Fingers crossed!
:)

Mark, honestly—-I wouldn’t have even been picked for the EE casting call. This is how it would have worked.
Judges: ‘Hi, what’s your name and what do you have’
Me: ‘My name is Betsy and I have an idea for a way to make hard boiled eggs without an egg shell.
Judges: ’Sounds interesting, do you have a prototype’
Me: ‘No’
Judges: ‘Do you have a picture?’
Me: "No, but if you hand me a piece of paper, I can draw it for you’
Judges: ‘Call security, get this woman outta here’
No, Mark….I love just being able to submit my little written descriptions to EN. Not that I don’t LOVE EE. I do, and they actually chose an EE cast member who didn’t have a prototype. Aloha Charlie to be exact. So, I’m cheering, cheering you all on!!!! In fact, Aloha Charlie and I even emailed each other before his EE pitch, and he told me that my tips helped him. :-)
@ David….Yep! :-)

David, you just pitch the product, or products that made it to the finals. You can’t just bring a suitcase full of stuff. :-) The finalists have been carefully picked….just like an EN search. Each submission will move along your dashboard, just like an EN search—-so there will be R&D reviews, IP, etc.
Last year, Eric Huber had 4 products selected for the finals, so he got to pitch them all. I think KJ also had a few. Most are just really lucky to have one picked.
As far as the Skype thing….I bet if you’re flown into NC, you’ll figure out how to get Skype free on your computer. If not, you can go over to a friend’s house and EN will contact you there. Don’t worry until you have a reason to worry. :-)

What if ur old school and don’t skype? :) I can smoke signal good.
How long of a pitch/audition do we get and how many products can we pitch in our frantically frenzied few minutes of future famedom?

Hi Brandon! I’ll try and answer this one for you. The finalists will be flown in to NC. EN will put on a great party for you, put ya up in a hotel and then there will be the presentation day—- when you pitch your product to the judges. The Sykpe thing happens weeks, even months after the NC presentation. During that time, EN is whittling down the 50 or so finalists down to the winners. That’s when you get the Sykpe call.
About bringing your spouse, I’m sure you’d have to probably pay for her plane fare…but, I bet they’d feed her! Ha,ha :-)

Hey Chappy, in an effort to save you having to wait I believe I can field this one. The E.E. Submission procedure is simply filling in the blanks of their E.E electronic submission form and uploading any supporting media. You will go through the same dashboard mania as any other search but, in this case a G7 means a trip to Charlotte for a live demonstration.

Is there a product category, market segment, or demographic our ideas should be geared towards based on EN’s feedback from current clients and marketing relationships?

QUESTION: Does it make sense to submit to the EE search if one already rcvd an “R4” (red X at stage 4) in a former Innovation Fund search?

What are the casting calls going to consist of?
Do we all go onto skype and deliver a pitch or is it a blind submission process?
Should we be working on something graphical to show for the audition?

also what happens if we apply for Everyday Edisons, and EN finds a licensing deal during that time? Hey, I can think positively …
