Ok, so I’ve had this idea in my head for the longest time and personally I think it is a very, very good one. One that once released will be an “Aha!” moment for many consumers who ask that question, “Why wasn’t this implemented before?”
So I have this idea, but I have no idea where to go with it. Obviously, I Google’d around a little bit and found companies like Davison..., that all “seemed” promising enough. I even got a quick reply from Davison when I submitted my idea and just got off the phone with someone there. But all of the sudden, I had this weird feeling, I had to search around to make sure this Davison company was who they were. All of the sudden I am bombarded with all of the forums and sites that talk about how big of a scam Davison... are, how they’ve been sued by trade commissions for millions upon millions of dollars… now this makes me worried. I will most certainly not be continuing with Davison what-so-ever, but I don’t know where to go anymore. They have my un-patented idea, will they use it and run with it?
But also, where do I go to legitimately bring my idea to life? I think it’s sad and pathetic that there are these companies out there that make a living on ripping off honest, hard-working people, and just stealing their money by placing them in somewhat helpless situations, it’s horrible.
So help me Edison Nation, where can I go for this? Who is NOT a scam, and how can I avoid all scams in the future?

Travis, I have never dealt with Davison but we had a long, involved thread about them here at EN, in the forums. Yes, do as Leslie says, and read these forums thoroughly. You can read Live Product Search for topics directly related to particular searches, “Other” for random things, which may be where the Davison thread is. Anybody remember where it is? Read and then read some more. As for Davison, I get the impression they will not so much “take” your idea as they will milk you of money en route to developing it. Opinions are mixed. At EN, you get a much more trust-worthy group and a much better value. You will have to do more leg work, mind you, in writing your own descriptions, advantages, and sell sheets, but it’s sort of fun in this community of fellow inventors. There is much to learn here, and it gives you the opportunity to better your inventing skills.

Welcome Travis———Take a few days and read-read-read until you are comfortable. It took a while before I submitted my first ideal. Every question that you have or will have, has been asked and answered in the Forums. Use the green Search button on the right side, it’s the fastest and best way to gather your information and regain trust. Keep track of the people answering the questions and search on them, because many offer insights to inventing, presentation, etc. Goodluck

Well I feel better that I have found a better place to post my ideas in the midst of all the scammers that are out there. However, just a question. Is it going cost $100 every time I submit an idea? I only have one idea that I’ve held onto for a while anyway. But when submitting the product and paying this $100, where does it go from there? Am I going to be notified soon enough if my idea is good or bad, or if they’ll take it, etc.
I guess I’m a little taken aback by Davison and other companies of the like, and you all can understand my now ensuing “skepitability” persay. Thank you all for the quick responses as well!

Welcome Travis…As a long-time member and active participant in Edison Nation, I assure you that they are of the highest integerity with a mission to making us inventors successful. They only make money if the inventor does…most of the time it’s a 50/50 split. You will never be asked to pay additional funds beyond the initial $20-100 entry fee. I personally have entered about 80 ideas into their system, having had 3 selected for commercialization. You will find a huge amount of great information and many participants on these forums willing to answer any of your questions.
