We’ve deleted that user/post. Frank, I appreciate the suggestion but can’t even fathom how we’d be able to keep up with it. Thanks for your input and thoughtfulness as always. I’d encourage the community moderators out there to keep up the work they’re doing and to kill those suspect posts as soon as you see them. |

It qualifies what I had suggested back during the spam attacks, and that was for EN to screen EVERYone who becomes a member here, including positive identification to be kept on file at HQ. …. Members can wear a mask in the forum, but management knows exactly who they are, then when ‘anonymouse’ things start happening, locating the culprit is a simple task. I realize EN wants to have an open-arms policy, but now days that comes with a price…. so it’s okay to be paranoid Kevin; it is well justified in this case I believe! As much as we’d all like to pretend it’s not happening and that all I’m saying is just an overactive imagination, the fact Oh yes…. and did I forget to mention, the Idea Farmers? |

It’s ok kevin and greg… possibly just a gentle slap on the hand meant for me. Read the other posts and you’ll fill in the blanks. |

Yea, I saw those too Greg. I also noticed some frowned upon shameless non-EN-oriented plugs…(that still remain). I can’t help but wonder if the threads where such plugs are absent have been reported and deleted, yet the pre-arranged “link” of sorts, still exists… jessayin. I know…paranoid..but there’s just too much I don’t know about this stuff, and when I see something that smells like automated information giving or gathering, I get a bit cagey. Luckily we have Kirk and the pros at EN to put on the crime-fighter capes and have a look-see. In fact, maybe I’ll give them a heads up in support. EDIT…I see your handi-work Greg in other thred…anxious to see how that turns out! |

I see patterns in many of the titles of the “interesting” topics. Like Eggies, Submit variants, and Millions. |

I venture to propose that something very automated and terribly wrong is happening here on this thread , as well as a handful of other threads…THAT ALL STARTED ABOUT “3 MONTHS AGO”! I am certain that the violations are NOT the thread starters (Hi Lisa…haha..no prob with you or the others), but something is setting these threads up for some kind of automated “viewing”. I have spotted some similarities when I go back about 4 pages…but the views are all in the 250000 range. To put it in perspective, the Inventors lounge has (working off memory here) 107000 views…EVER. Name Search is like 36000 (?). Anyone else notice this? Big bro? haha…nah, but some vermine fo sho! |

Margaret, I’ll be the first to say my passion for Edison Nation sometimes results in my jumping to the wrong conclusions or misinterpreting the facts, but the passion part will never change and the rest I’ll just have to work on! |

Jim, I know I addressed it on the other thread, but I just wanted to clarify that the expert who made the comment about not watching the PPA video likely did so because he read that I already had a PPA done. My impression was that he figured I would be wasting my time when what I need is to learn how to file an NPA with Missing Parts. If I only have a few weeks to file an NPA, learning to file a PPA doesn’t make sense when I already have that done. Anyway, I just think you may have interpreted it differently than he intended. Welcome Lisa!! Your brother’s story sounds fascinating. Good luck with your submission! |

Rainer, Sorry, yes. Jerry did represent himself. I told him, “you should become a lawyer.” He said, he learned so much about the law in that time. |

Rainer, Yep, I did not hear it from Jerry but, through the grape vines. He won’t even talk to our dad about it. I am proud of him for all his successes (they are many). So, I guess it’s in our genes that even I am drawn to want to create/ invent all the time. So, you all can understand why I’m just a little nervous about submitting stuff. But, Roger is right. I should make more of an effort to find out stuff and not blindly take on something I don’t know about. |

Small world Lisa…I remember reading about your Brother in some of the strangest places on the net and always wondered why ….now I understand why :) He got rid of his lawyer and ended up representing himself ( Yes ?) and I forgot the whole thing until your post. Happy to hear he won in the end ! |

Well, Jim, Charie, Roger and Steve, I have to say, I’m a little cautious about submissions, patents and such for a good reason… My brother Jerry Harthcock invented a computer chip design and was in a lawsuite with nearly a 100 companies for several years. He did finally win. However, although he is not able to talk about it with me or anyone else. I can tell you he has aged considerably! You can find this information on the web. just type in Jerry Harthcock. He is an interesting fellow, he’s my brother and I love him – even though he is very “Out There” (he’s also a UFO hunter and Remote Viewer). |

The great thing about Roger Brown is that he is in the trenches with us and he genuinely wants to help inventors the best he knows how to do. Too many times we see ‘experts’ who seem to have gotten so smart and educated about the patenting process that they have become detached from the cause of every independent inventor, which is the genuine American dream of succeeding against overwhelming odds. Not only that, they develop a resentment toward the independent inventor and they tend to group all inventors into one crowd of subordinate losers who for some reason have no right to attain their own life’s hopes and dreams. One particular expert even advised another EN member not to view a video prepared and presented by the Patent Office on how to prepare a Provisional Patent Application herself because in his opinion, she wouldn’t want to do that! Why not? Is he afraid she might educate herself and one day be as smart as he is? Heaven forbid! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I can’t draw any other conclusion from such advice. Unfortunately, the patenting process is intimately related to the art of inventing, but people who are experts in patent litigation usually have very different ideas about what ‘success’ entails. And too many times their road to success is made of stepping stones that are nothing more than the backs of independent inventors they are proposing to help! So with the deepest respect, I say thank you Roger Brown for being true to yourself and for the valuable insight you give freely and without prejudice. And I believe Roger will agree that Edison Nation is currently the best and the safest show in town for the independent inventor! |

Lisa, you do not want to talk specifics about any idea you have or submitted. If it is a Kitchen product search it is okay to say I entered the Kicthe search. You don’t want to say my idea is a two sided spatula that does blah, blah blah. You don’t want to post pictures of it or put it on facebook or Youtube or any other area it will be seen or read. You do not want anything you do to be considered public disclosure which would either make getting a patent harder or impossible. Being excited about entering a LPS is normal. You just don’t want to shoot yourself in the foot telling more than you should about the product. PERSISTENCE, PATIENCE AND POSITIVE ATTITUDE Persistence- Dictionary.com defines persistence as “the act or fact of persisting.” I would expand on that definition to add “A controlled steady movement towards a goal”. Many Inventors tend to be overly pushy and demanding wanting answers immediately from the company they are trying to get interested in their product idea. There is a fine line between Persistence and being a Pest. Once that line is crossed your chances of success are lost.Patience-If you don’t have it, you better start learning it. Inventing is a love/hate relationship. You love your idea and want the world to buy it, but you hate the time it takes to get it to market. No matter how much control you think you have over your project there are always obstacles you can’t control. So, unless you are the sole person doing every aspect of the design, gathering materials, manufacturing, shipping, sales, marketing, product placement and own a chain of stores to sell it, you will be waiting on someone. Positive Attitude- The final P is Positive Attitude. Without it the first two mean nothing. Your attitude can make or break your success. Whether it is a meeting with potential investors, a presentation of your idea to a company or speaking with a consumer about your product your attitude is key to your success. Remember- “Dreams are accomplished by people who do, not by people who wish”. |
