I’m giving this a bump…. 36 views and no response ? Is there anyone on this board actually receiving royalties from Edison Nation ? I’d like to hear about your experiences.
Lets say I make a widget and sign the contract with EN.
Option 1: EN sells rights for widget for 500,000$ I get 50%, or $250,000. This is probably a one time event.
Option2: EN manufactures widget, and sells 10,000 units at $20 a unit… or $200,000. I get 7.5% or
$15,000. This continues for up to 20 years.
Option3: EN sells rights cheaply, for lump sum AND portion of revenue. Company A pays EN $50,000, and agrees to also pay 10% of revenue. If $200,000 sells in one year… I get $25,000 + 200,000*10%7.5% = $26,500. This continues… at least the revenue10%*7.5% for up to 20 years.
When looking at the contract, it seems that the inventor has no say in how EN proceeds? It is in EN best interest to stretch out payments as long as possible (option 3)…. and as small as possible. Am I missing something here ?
Please speak up … good or bad !
Thanks, Alex
