Hello Jason,
In order to protect the integrity of the selected inventions we do not share any details about them. To see a list of inventors whose inventions were selected through Live Product Searches please see “Success Stories” on our homepage: http://www.edisonnation.com.
Edison Nation has only been hosting Live Product Searches since the summer of 2008, but we have already had 22 inventions selected by search sponsors. Bringing an idea to market typically takes longer than 1 year, but when products launch we will be sure to update everyone on the website.
Thanks

Jason,
I am fairly new here as well, but encourage you to surf around the forums. I have been very encouraged by the calibur of people on the site, from the inventors up to the EN Staff. It is fairly unanimous that this is a unique and potentially profitable venue for inventors in this market. I have read stories of G8’ers whose inventions are being marketed and although we don’t know details we know the sponsors are putting a lot of time and money into the ideas! Good Luck to you on your submissions!

Hi Jason,
I was one of the first “winners” of the first LPS, and I signed my contract very close to 1 yr ago. I received the upfront, and a couple of months ago got a look at the current version of my product that is being developed by Spencer’s. They are working out the kinks, trying to get the manufacturing down to a price point that is attractive to the consumer and profitable for the company…….still waiting for it to hit the market. I assume there was at least a pause in the past year due to the financial cataclysm we went through, so I’m being patient. As far as I know only the products from the TV show are really on the market, none from the online LPS’ yet…..though I’m willing to be corrected.
I did get to tour the Charlotte, NC offices and meet several of the people working there, including Marla. I have to say I was more impressed than I thought I would be….and I went in with a pretty high opinion!
My two cents.

Quasi-Related…
I was watching FOX news last night and saw a DRTV “style” 60 second commercial for Emery Cat.
I noticed they’ve added a cat toy to the product, and have imbedded catnip.
TWO (2) for $19.99 (just pay separate s/h of course)

I saw that too! Pretty cool! See! Go Everyday Edisons!!!
Also keep in mind….95% of you probably don’t know…it is estimated that it takes 18 to 24 months to get a product ready for the shelf…and then more time for the distributor to input that product into the system. They may make you wait a couple of seasons even or more.

THANKS FOR THE SUGGESTIONS AND FEEDBACK I DID GO TO THE WEBSITE WWW.EVERYDAYEDISONS.COM AND FOUND SOME INTERESTING FACTS AND INVENTORS
I THINK SOMEBODY SHOULD MAKE A MAIN SUBJECT IN THIS FORUM ON UPDATES WITH THESE SUCCESS STORIES OF INDIVIDUALS MAKING IT TO MARKET
IT WOULD BE SOMETHING TO READ WHEN THE REST OF US HAVE SOME BAD DAYS— HA HA

Hi Mike. Thanks for sharing your situation. To fully understand, you were a selected winner. I assume you got the $2,500 up front money. But nothing since?? When it does go to market, did EN make it clear what your slice of the pie might be?

Thanks for your feedback guys. We’re working on a top-level page for the site that will tell the success stories of Edison Nation products. Expect it to go live in a couple of weeks. Also, expect to see a whole lot more of those Emery Cat commercials – it’s going to be huge in 2010 :-)
Also, Ron is correct, it takes a long time to get a product to market. We are always working on speeding up the process but ultimately, it’s in the hands of the search sponsor and some will get it there sooner than others. Of course, the economic meltdown didn’t speed things up for anybody, either. I think that the ASOTV searches under our new system will be the quickest to market since we have more control over those but we’ll soon find out for sure.
Wayne, all of the details are very clear in the contract. In Mike’s case, we’ll be splitting all revenues 50/50 with him and he will never be asked to pay more than the $20 he did to submit his idea.

Matt…be honest with people…explain that it is a NIGHTMARE on the shelves at retailers right now. You have to give stuff away almost to sell. That eliminates many…and many are better off waiting to debut their product.
As for me, I sell direct to people who can afford a quality tool that will last them a lifetime. I’m not going to play games in the cut-throat retailers these days selling for 50% to 70% off or whatever it takes to make their numbers and I’m not giving my product away just for sales numbers sake.
People have to realize it is VERY tough on Edison Nation and all it’s inventors…but I will tell you this…Edison Nation will STUN everyone when the economy gets easier. They are #1 in the drivers seat to do anything they want with new products. I am actually quite amused and amazed watching their growth.

Since Emery Cat has been mentioned here, I am offering an obersavation and opinion: inventors would be wise to always be thinking of the add-ons which could be given away with the product. I think the LPS’s ask such a question and it is a must if the product is going to be sold on TV. (With the Standard, Queen or King size flannel pillowcase, I offered a travel/camping size in either flannel or fleece.)

Add-ons is an interesting subject. My wife says, I’m going to break my cardinal rule and let you buy me a steam cleaner for Christmas this year. She wants the shark steam cleaner. So I’m thinking this is going to be an easy holiday for me this year, but it gets better. I’m watching an infomercial for the actual shark vacuum today and in the middle of the commercial the pitch man say’s, I’ll even throw in this steam cleaner mop as a gift to you, for four easy payments for 29.95 (give or take) and this is a limited time offer of course.
My question is, is there 2 different shark steam cleaners. one at the stores, and the other one there giving away with the shark vacuum?

Matt, Thanks for clearing this up in your reply. Truth be told, the legal stuff was so exciting to read (NOT) that I blanked out. I’m a trusting sole, up to a point. For this one I figured I had nothing to lose.
Ron, you’re a prolific writer. I like reading your “tell it like it is” stuff.

Well Wayne…it’s the truth. Many inventors expect to throw just an idea conceived in a second at some manufacturer etc. and expect them to do ALL the work AND send them monthly checks forever more.
That is nice when that happens but you better have plan B and be ready yourself to do some of the work if all else fails.
Reality today, if a company can make your idea successful these days in a DEPRESSION then you should go clean the owners house or something on Saturdays for years to come because you should be that grateful.
I don’t like when people put pressure on Edison Nation these days when our big U.S. powerhouse companies all lost everything basically and needed government bailouts…so how do you think Edison Nation products are doing? VERY TOUGH should be the common sense answer…so don’t pressure them…stick with them for the future but don’t expect a free ride to wealth overnight.
Black Friday sales were down 8% the news said. Is that over last year? I guess so. So how do you debut a new product in this economy when it usually starts off expensive because of lower volumes and patent/legal costs? I have no idea…my sales are off worldwide…BADLY.
So give Edison Nation a break…and if you are smart…if you take a ride with them now….you will be sitting in the front car when times get better. TRUST ME…you can’t find a better partnership deal as an inventor anywhere else.
Today, one in a thousand good ideas can make money in this economy. When it gets better, one in 50 or even less will make money. Use your head. Don’t complain.

Hi Jason,
Do you realize that using capitals letters all the time is shouting at us all, yes I personally use them sometimes but I make an effort not to, could please give that a rest!
What are the very basic goals here? With any Inventors Forum? On the Internet
Help Inventors get from step A to B= The Snakes and Ladders Game journey in between.
Part A:
Create a new Invention/Product that you hope most people will purchase, your invention has to be cost effective to the price point in the retail market.
Part B: Have your new Invention/product in Retail Stores and Selling, seeing those royalty cheques that everyone one dreams of or the profit’s having your own Company manufacturing and distributing this new product.
What this is all about is getting your product in the market! For some Inventors that is enough even if they make a loss, there is a great personal achievement in doing this a seeing your product in stores, still not all make the big $$$$$ for the Inventor.
This is the recognition that you created something of value and the end user will pay for that!
I am helping an Inventor who has spent $1,300,000- on his new cordless drill, did he waste a lot of money, Hell yes, can I help him looks like yes with my contacts, will he be rich No, but the royalties could stop him from losing his farm.
This Inventor is his own worst enemy and Pig Headed, thinks his way is the best way? So I am saying keep a open mind just a you would to creating a new Invention.
Maybe he will get some of that money back over time.
