I’ve questions regarding all LPSs, who does product development when a contract is landed, you guys, or the client/retailer’s internal resources?

Is the inventor more involved than they are with the show?

Being involved in each stage of product development is what I want to experience so that I can learn the rest of being an inventor. I’m interested in each stage…well, at least the engineering, prototyping, testing, and branding.

I have a question regarding our dashboards. It seems that most of those who have been willing to share their dashboard status have been stuck at G3 for some time. matt once said that you [EN] know a great idea as soon as you see it. So, with that said, are there any dashboards that advance past the G3 stage prior to the close of the LPS? WE know there was one person whose entry for the gag search went to G7 and was ‘moved’ to the lighting search, I am asking about a typical entry.

Regarding who does the development…it depends. Usually the sponsor will do the development. For example, Spencer’s has a terrific design and engineering teams. I anticipate that they will do all the development on any ideas they choose. However, I would not be surprised if they asked for assistance on a project.

Regarding inventor involvement…again, it depends. I think it is more likely that an inventor will be involved when his or her product idea has been more fully developed, i.e. refined prototype, patent application… The sponsor is not obligated to include the inventor in the development process.

There are no hard and fast rules with regards to evaluations and the dashboard. For the searches that have closed recently, we are generally not moving anyone past G3 before the close of the search.

John, when will you start evaluating the Spencers
Lighting submissions?

Mine just went G3 today, so I assume they are looking at them now. Two closing on the same day and another opening must really have them jumping.

Mine is still at G3.

3G here as well. Now I’ve got to focus on a AS Seen product. I walk by the As Seen display at Target once a week, and am SURE there’s something else that should be there. Now just what!?

There seems to be a lot of movement on the dash boards of the Springs Creative Search, since this one ended the same day has anyone had any movement on their Spencer’s Lighting Search dashboards recently [like yesterday]?

My ESP says I will have movement today/tomorrow on my Spencer’s Light Search- right now G3. We’ll see. Good Luck Everyone

There won’t be any movement on the Spencer’s Lighting Search today and since I don’t like to make promises that I can’t keep, I won’t set the schedule. As I’m sure you have noticed, the team has put a lot of effort into the Spring’s Creative evaluations. You will see movement on this search soon though. Thank you for your patience.

Well folks it’s too bad I don’t have the $25 to enter these contest. I had a great one for lighting and halloween contests. Where can I submit my inventions for free???

It looks like this search has taken a back seat. It probably has to do with the accidental time extension.

I was a bit lost when I read the bottom of this thread. Then I read in another topic that Matt S wrote, “We’ve all been tied up this week between the redesign and reviews for the three searches that we’re presenting next Thursday (Spencer’s lighting and both WestPoint searches).” Since he posted it on friday, we’ve got two and a half days before they present the lighting ideas to Spencers. I would guess that means they’ll make final decisions on exactly what to present today or tomorrow, if they have not already done so. OK, now I’m anxious again. :) Good Luck everyone!!!

Matt S, Do you have any of those wonderful stats to share regarding the Spencer’s Lighting Search? X number will be presented to Spencers on Thursday? Etc?

Also, since you are presenting on Thursday, am I correct in assuming that Spencer’s will be obliged to give a response by December 21st, 45 days out?

I just wanted to post an apology to all anxiously waiting the Spencer’s light search. For some reason anytime I get into something it ends up being delayed :). checkout lines, traffic, you name it. Just bad karma I guess hehe

Has anyone from EN posted anything about how the Lighting Search presentation to Spencers went? Did it go well? Poorly?? Did they like any??? Were they excited about any? Does EN feel like they were right on target with the ideas presented?

I think Matt is still in mourning after the election and can’t get out of bed. He was nearly catatonic at the presentations to Spencer’s and West Point Home [I have no idea how he was at these presentations!]

I know those guys are busy but in the past seems there has always been a quick blurb or two here or there to keep us updated. ??

This is always the most anxious part for me. I wouldn’t get upset if we didn’t hear much for a little while. With the Spencer’s Make Us Laugh Search, we finalists were down to about one-in-15 odds at the end of the presentation. That kept us on edge for about 40 of the 45 days in which Spencers was required to make a decision. Worst part about that is that Wall Street experienced its biggest meltdown in decads in the middle of our wait. I’m sure that the financial problems have made many retailers change their strategies abruptly. So I had no idea wheather Spencers was even still interested in doing anything with the results. Clearly, they became more pragmatic in the number of products they chose to proceed with. That turned out to be far less than the number they initially seemed interested in. In this case I won’t get my hopes too high. If I get a win, then great! If not, … well I’m too busy trying to get my Spirit Halloween Search entry completed and submitted to worry about what I didn’t win.

I don’t mind waiting for Spencers’ answer, any info would be great, but I feel so out of “the loop” right now! AHHHH the suspencers is killing me!

Maybe we can get Margaret Pryor to take a ride over to Enventy’s and see if anyone is there.

I’m not sure, but i think the delay may have to do with the electrical portion of the search. It’s not as technical as the heat search, but probably more technical then the make us laugh search. Just a guess. :)

The presentation went very well! John will probably post an update for you all. We’ll be updating dashboards soon with the ones that they definitely didn’t pick. The ideas that are still in the running will remain as-is until Spencer’s has had their opportunity to do their due diligence. Yes, they have 45 days to make up their mind so that’s their ultimate deadline.

Matt, you know the crazy inventors here aren’t going to settle for such basic info!! How many did you take to Spencer’s this time? How many are still being considered? I don’t even have anything entered and I need numbers!
