Here's an Idea - Funding for All

Well, actually … I think it could be a good Idea. But it could use some refinement, comments, criticism, etc. Most of us stampeed at the chance to go to the Everyday Edison’s Casting calls. Why? Because despite the lines, the waiting, the preparation and the nervousness of presenting, its a quick, inexpensive and easy way to find out if our inventions have what it takes to place in the competition and ultimately make it to market. But Everyday Edisons is only once a year.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, the program and everything Everyday Edisons does for inventors like us. But, let’s face it, with 50 to 100 thousand dollars of spare change to invest, anybody could do the same thing any time of year.

Anyway, my idea/question is this. Would it be possible or even desirable for inventors to form inventors regional clubs. Each member contributes some non-trivial membership fee. Each member then submits an invention to be judged by all the other members. Then, depending on the cash in the coffers, the members select an invention or several inventions to develop and present to market. Part of the profits from the sale of the product go back to the club to fund other inventions.

I always thought municipalities should have something like this, with a patent attorney on staff. The potential for creating jobs and additional tax revenues would be good for everyone.

Any thoughts from anyone?

Rafael,

I understand your concerns and we want to make even more ideas come to fruition than the 12 each season for the show.

We have some of the largest retailers in the US at the casting calls looking for great ideas. There is no limit to the number of products that they may choose. Also, we will be introducing sponsored searches very soon…so stay tuned. We want to see you succeed!

Good luck.

That sounds great. I had planned earlier in the year to attend this year’s casting call in the Northeast. But ultimately it worked out to be on a date I had previously reserved for a family function. Now I have to wait another whole year for the next casting call. That stinks.

You don’t have to wait another year Rafael! We just announced that we’ll be holding an online last-chance casting call for Season 3 of Everyday Edisons. Check out your home page or the other forum posts for more information.

Thanks!
Matt

I agree with this idea. We can pool all R7/G8 and have a vote which invention to bring into market. EE and EN are good venues if your idea fit the sponsors requirement.

What about revoultioanry ideas that does not fit the sponsors portfolio?

Perhaps EN/EE can have a vote on R7’s that need to be pursued. Maybe the best of R7’s or G8

Not a sermon, just a thought…
