I have to rub it in...

Alaska just passed legislation…
All alaskans will be recieving a $1200.00 check for fuel cost relief, plus a power cost equalization program so everybody in the state is paying the same for utilities no matter where they live, plus they are suspending the 8% state gas tax for the next year. The governor still has to sign it, but it was her idea, so there’s no chance she won’t.

Now for those of you that say “this doesn’t solve any problems, it’s just a band-aid”, this is just the quick fix. We’re also talking about increasing the number of wind farms, solar, and other renewable resources. Alaska will soon be the leader in Green energy too.

Oh, and if you’re thinking of moving here, we had hail today, and only one day this summer where it got above 70 degrees. Of course the Perminant Fund Dividend is nice.

Mark…we talked about this. Alaska should just dig into those resources. Under the earth’s crust the oil and natural gas deposits all connect. Oil under the ground is like rivers. Maybe they don’t move as fast but they move and can move when one country sucks out one side of the pool.

Who knows this is true? How do I know? Makes sense, that’s how.

Russia is 50 miles away from Alaska and pulling giant amounts of oil out of the earth as much as any country or any country could. If Alaska doesn’t pull some of that oil, Russia will. that is stupidity.

Don’t say it can’t be possible either. If you have one pool 1 mile below and another pool 2 miles below…suck the oil out of the lower pool…..the upper pool will eventually drain into that lower pool. Has to be…liquids form veins and connect. that is what liquids do.

If they drilled the oil everyone could add some zeros on that $1200. The economy would boom bigger than Houston,TX (hottest city in U.S. right now from oil money filtering thoroughly through area)

Drilling is better than war. Tell your Governor I said just drill.

VAWTs on every utility pole, PVs on every roof, keep the oil where it is.

Ron, I thought you wanted us to use our creative minds to solve the problem, and you want to use 100 year old technology at the same time – it’s called consistency it’ll help ya.

Sorry…I watched the entire Non-Crisis video, The Chaplain did a fine job at getting me worked up too.

As long as we realize there is no energy crisis, only a policy crisis.

You are suggesting the perpetuation of a scourge of an infrastructure, one that pollutes and enslaves.

Fossil fuels have negative efficiency by the time the energy reaches the socket or road.

Fossil fuels were originally solar energy, so why not just farm solar energy in real time in the form of photons and air currents?

Attaching a VAWT to every utility pole and PV panel to every roof would be so much cleaner, simpler and more robust, it would also employ people all over the country.

Golf in Alaska? Where else in the U.S. can you hit the links at midnight and play 18 holes before it gets dark. :)

Chic, you can’t keep the moose if you kill it with your car. That’s how they feed the homeless.

A lot of people think they can still come to alaska and make it rich. It’s just not that way anymore. They pack up the car with a few hundred bucks, and drive north.

The homeless eat moose, salmon, halibut, anything caught out of season, or run down with a car. If you never had moose, you’re missing out. It’s better then bear, but not as good as reindeer.

If I could see russia from my house I wouldn’t be talking to you right now. Little Diomede Island isn’t much of a town… no roads, no cars, no tv. It’s like Gilligan Freeken Island on the side of a rock.

Sarah Palin has been quoted so many times on what Tina Fey has said. Sarah never said that she could see Russia from her house. All that said was that we share borders. Russia is closer to Alaska then The Capital Building is to the Whitehouse.

Mathew, that is great news! If anything it’ll put the rest of Washington on notice that they are no longer above the law. Alaskan’s are all about fighting coruption.

Chic, the Anchorage Daily News is a liberal rag posing as a newspaper. The ADN actually bought the local conservitive paper and shut it down. This may be big news in Australia, but not to us. It’s just another smear tactic.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful but was this submitted tongue-in-cheek? Plate tectonics would seem to indicate this isn’t true. The mid-Atlantic ridge alone would prevent any connection between North America and the Middle East.

Wow, now that is a delayed reaction! 82 days later! the Middle East and the Atlantic has nothing to do with this comment. We are talking about next door neighbors; Alaska and Russia are only 2.5 miles apart.
