Right? that’s me..the guy with the big mouth that talks too much.
As an inventor you will need to generate publicity for your invention whether you license or not. Talk to your licensor and see if they mind if you promote your invention (as well as their products and company too) Bet they will give you a big smile and a yeah…go ahead.
The inventor may have to do this because these small steps or accomplishments, a little spot in a small magazine is just not worth their time and the inventor, if this is not done can be losing out on some great “resume” material….especially when you need to present your next invention to a manufacturer!
YOUR EFFORTS FOR PUBLICITY MAY EVEN MAKE OR BREAK YOUR PRODUCTS SUCCESS!
Here is a big piece of publicity I got today. Second major article by this magazine and 3rd time they had my product in their magazine. You can get this kind of publicity, just keep calling magazines and newspapers. This is the 3rd publication in 3 years with this magazine.

Troy got his first publicity today on his Miter Master. Maybe he will post it here. Anyone else have some publicity to share for their invention? Post it here…know there are atleast a few…so we all can learn.

The pillowcase had a prominent spot in the Japanese Wall Street Journal a few years ago: hope they said nice things because no one I know could translate but I do have a copy of the newspaper in the files – just in case.
;-)
Congratulations Ron and Troy: I know how much persistence it takes.

C’mon.. I know there is more here that have received publicity for their ideas. We all have to learn how to generate publicity for our new inventions. It is part of the game.
It is really such a wonderful feeling seeing your invention in a magazine or newspaper etc. I SINCERELY wish all here get their day to see that for their inventions.
The best place to start is the smallest local newspaper in your area. They like covering an inventor in their own neighborhood.

Hello all,
I have a product called the Cascade Gardens TM Adjustable Height Trellises and if you click on the following link: http://gardening.about.com/od/shrubsvines/gr/Ad...
from About.com you will see a review. If you scroll to the bottom and click on the vendors site it will lead you to a short video that further explains my trellis.
I have another product that was just launched on the web (www.skyscrapergarden.com) and it has been picked up by the AP and will be in the news in January. With many hours of work I found the players in the industry and started making phone calls and sending E-mails. The Skyscraper Garden TM will be published in a least 1000 newspapers and hopefully TV & radio will also pick it up. I’ve never had a product picked up by the AP so I’m hoping it really gives my product a boost. Has anyone else had the AP pick up one of their ideas and how did it help sales. Thanks Ron for starting this forum.

Scott…be careful what any media promises you. I have been told I was getting the front page of the 4th largest U.S. newspaper. They never ended up ever putting me in there.
I have been to Associated Press headquarters in Manhattan and littered the place with my printed info. Did this twice.
I’ve also been promised a spot on the Today Show, Fox5 and NBC news was highly interested too. Nothing so far. the medias are very mixed up right now.
Don’t get your hopes up until you actually see your story in print. I just had a major 3 page story come out in a magazine. It is OVER A YEAR overdue.
Your product is GREAT! I like it and can see why it can get some news attention especially if they talk about the growing trend of the urban gardener to save money. You have a spacesaver garden…COOL! Good luck! Keep us posted!

Hi Ron,
Thanks for positive feedback on my products – I really dig your Handi-Straps as well and thanks for the advice. I have been inventing for quite some time and as you know it’s a real grind. I have teamed up with a well known expert in the field and his friend works with the AP and the AP came back a couple times asking for more images and information so we think it’s going to be a featured article. As you know, if you are a seasoned inventor you get used to disappointment and as you gain experience the excitment factor tends to go away somewhat but I’m hopeful that this will get a lot of press. For you new inventors out there, even if you get a license deal it’s only the beginning – there are no guarantees and don’t think that you have hit the jackpot. Learn your industry and try to figure out how to get your product out there – just do it. If you do get a deal ask the company that you have teamed up with how you can help – get their advice and propose to them ideas for moving forward with the product. You are the inventor and no one knows your product better than you so most will welcome your ideas. Ron, the timing is right for this product and one nice thing is that it is recession proof – I will you and EN forums posted.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Edison Nation has done an excellent job in putting together the Live Product Search program and it’s a great and cost effective way for inventors to present their ideas.
