I’m Todd Stancombe. I’m the President of Edison Nation. Most of you don’t know me. I operate behind the scenes structuring opportunities. I feel like I need to communicate our perspective about Eggies and Betsy Kaufman. Betsy came to us with an idea. We designed it, engineered it, tooled it, and made it perfect. The product works every time, as advertised, when it is made correctly. Our partner had a blunder with one factory. There are over 50 tools making Eggies today and we had 3 bad tools (with 8 cavities each) in which plastic should have never flowed. We know explicitly which tools they are because each Eggie manufactured has a unique factory code stamped in the bottom of the product. Those tools have been destroyed, but not before a quantity of first goods were shipped. Of course we’ve been all over this (our partners subsequently spent 12 straight days cooking eggs in China ensuring that the tools online today are to specification) and of course there have been some very tense discussions, but the fact is that it happened and it happened in our rush against time. That’s not Betsy’s fault, and it doesn’t mean her product is flawed. It means that our partner’s (and hence our) execution was flawed. The product coming off the line now is solid.

I’m grateful that we have partners like Betsy. She is our champion and has taken blows from a community that most would agree should be cheering her success. Send the blows our way. Your help defending her and her product would be appreciated. If you have the energy, respond to blogs and shed light on the fact that the defects have been corrected. At the very least, understand that Betsy did her job.

Note: If you are interested in understanding the rush against time, it has to do with knockoffs. To date, we have shut down over 1200 sites selling knock off Gyro bowls. We’ve pulled over 240 manufacturers off of Alibaba who were advertising knock offs (which by the way don’t work). Eggies will be no different, and we are gearing up now for the fight. We do everything in our power to enforce our rights and the rights of our inventors, but in the end, the threat of knock offs in the ASOTV market demands that we get to the market quick, and we get there in great quantity. In this case, there was a flaw. Moving forward, our engineering department has to sign off on each and every tool producing any Edison Nation product.

You will be hard pressed to find a company that will come forward and do their best to make sure everyone understands what and where the problem was with a product. And work that quickly to make the proper corrections so they have a quality product. I have had the pleasure of knowing Todd for a number of years and can tell you he is a person of integrity and takes helping Inventors seriously.

Anyone remember the Tylenol poisoning? The manufacturer replaced every bottle with a new safety-top-bottle for every customer, turning what could have been a PR nightmare into a PR win.

Well I did not see this coming. I thought that at least one of the accusations and speculations in the other thread was correct but none of them were even close. It sure teaches me yet another lesson about making assumptions. I think the tact of openness as opposed to circling the wagons will squash the rumors and prevent them from spreading further. Good job!

I would much rather see this kind of honest response than to see the typical coverup, denials and lies that we see so often. I feel much more at ease and comfortable working with a business that not only admits errors but corrects them. I would also hope that replacements would be made on all defective products. Although it is expensive, it ultimatly builds trust and loyalty with customers for any future sales. And loyal customers provide great free word of mouth advertising and support.I had an experience with a company when I was 22 years old. I told them if they didn’t provide the service that I expected , that I would no longer purchase there product ever again. They refused, I’m now 60 and I kept my word. This admission and report makes me even more willing to continue to give my verbal support to Edison Nation, Everyday Edisons and Inventors Digest. Great back bone Todd.

GREAT POST!!! Never knew there was any negative feedback on Besty’s Eggies, that’s a shame! I’ve seen some complaints about EN and felt has a member I needed to step up and do what was right and remark to the unfounded complaint….Every good company and product will get their share of complaints regardless. It’s knowing which ones are a lie…I’m happy to say that the Eggies product inspired me to create my own food product, that actually made it to G4 today, so BOO YA to those naysayer’s…lol

That is a very good response, but posting it here alone is just preaching to the choir so to speak. It would be best for consumers to get that message. Since a lot of people use Amazon not just for buying but for reading reviews, you should try and get that information on the two Eggies pages

Very sorry to Betsy and Edison Nation in regards to those problems with the tooling, but that explains why the weird mix in the consumer reviews! Couldn’t understand why there was either an “I love them” or totally opposite comment of “Hate them”! :-(

We can’t let those few bad Eggies ruin the whole batch, now..can we??? Go, Eggies, Go!!!

Betsy…you are indeed a true champion and huge inspiration to us all! Big Hugs to you!!!

Whew, glad you, Mr. Stancombe, wrote the explanation and it cleared things up…it all makes sense too. Speaking just as a new person on EN, sometimes not knowing all that goes on in the background (because EN has tons of experience and combined years of invention background), I know that I and probably other new people here sometimes are too naive and unsure. Sorry for any misunderstandings of what happened that may have occurred! Glad that Eggies are so successful for both Betsy and EN. I am really grateful for EN… and thank you! Nice to see you on the forums!

Thank you Todd, Matt and Team EN!! I have known about EN’s committment to quality during this entire Eggies journey. I have known about the hundreds of hours spent cooking Eggies at the different factories and about the one tooling problem. I have known that EN has spent an incredible amount of time getting to the bottom of the issue and correcting it.

Some of the recent posts were upsetting to me because they assumed that EN cared more about making money than the quality of it’s products. NOT SO. Edison Nation will be around looooong after Eggies. Their integrity is priceless! I have known that through my direct dealings with them. Now you all know.

My pride about Eggies keeps getting bigger and bigger. Do I care that there was a problem? Sure…..But do I care more about the way EN handled it? You Bet!!! We’re in the hands of a Top Notch operation! I am so proud to be part of Edison Nation!!! And I am so proud of Eggies!
