So…I’m at my friend’s house and I tell them over and over about what is going on with my inventions…I’ll tell anybody over and over if they’ll listen to me….you know me.
Last week I was complaining to these friends that the NJ Star Ledger newspaper just won’t cover my invention (what the hell is the matter with them…it’s all about me and my invention…don’t they know)
Today I’m at my friend’s house and look on the table at the NJ Star Ledger (yesterday’s paper) and there is Roger Brown’s Pizza Scissors on the front page of the today section almost lifelike size!
In a jealous enrage I crumpled it up, shredded it, chewed some and set the rest on fire! They won’t cover me!
I have calmed down now and took some medication. Got another copy to send to Roger. Guess Roger’s inventions are really getting around. Congratulations Roger.
The article talks about pizza gadgets for the homemade pizza lover. Roger’s pizza scissors were considered necessary so the traditional pizza wheel does not scratch these new pizza cooking stones for home use. Hmmm…interesting.
Unfortunately Roger’s name was not mentioned but his invention is the showcased product for home pizza makers.

Ron, I’ve always said that the success for telling a story “is its in the delivery”: great story.
For the past 7 years, I have tried everything to get something written up here in Yuma. Here are some facts which they don’t care about:
I could have my products made anywhere in the U.S. – I don’t have to be in Yuma since I have no ties – but I choose to stay here;
the pillowcase was in the ‘Gadget Nation’ book;
I run the business out of a motor home (manufacturing done in town with inventory stored);
I am a woman who has driven that motor home about 100,000 miles alone;
the pillowcase won the “State of Maine” (was there for a short while) Best New Product award presented by the National Mail Order Association.
Wouldn’t you think that even one of those topics would make a good story? And all together, I think it might be a great story about a local inventor.

Well Julie…looks like my first annual NJ inventor show is going to happen this Spring. You said you might come…Roger has to…I told him it is mandatory. The Star Ledger said they would cover that. Edison Nation and Inventors Digest will be there….it will be BIG. I will be trying to attract media, NYC news stations too so all inventors who attend may get a crack at media coverage or together as a whole.
This is a major issue with NJ, the state that HAD the richest inventor/ innovator history with the highest concentration of scientists and engineers.
The booths will be dirt cheap…like $100 for inventors and $200 for businesses that cater to inventors needs. The NJ SBA will help with that. They are co-founder with me, hosted by Kean College who has always had open doors to business and inventors to try and help them with an internal SBDC office who I am working with for the show. Expect the people running things here to be big participants as well as area colleges and corporations. We have GE and Honeywell headquartered here. I want then to come display their innovations and speak as well as meet and greet inventors.
If I can stay healthy…this show will be the “Big” inventors show in the Northeast. I really think there is no damn reason why INPEX needs $2000 from inventors for a booth….and they should have never canceled last years show. My opinion anyway.
We’ll see….the show being 30 miles from Manhattan sure will help us! I know people who know people…well you know…we’re all in the mob here in NJ…I’ll MAKE the media come. No…kidding…much media here in NJ and NYC…national media…and who’s who. I will try to get people like Donny Deutsch to speak. Thomas Edison Museum and foundation said they will come, trying to get them to bring a couple things for a mini museum display.

Do you have a date yet? I probably would come there in the motor home and just spend the summer in my home state of RI or one of my favorite states, Maine. But, getting ready to take off is a major issue and can’t be done without lots of planning and cannot be done quickly once the plans are made.
If I can’t personally come, I will ask a friend to do it for me and I will pay for the booth and whatever else. In either case, the pillowcases will be there!

Wait Julie!!! I got it! Let’s turn your motor home into the “Big Bad Invention Bus” A mobile inventor’s show! YEAH! It’ll be great! So we don’t get bored on the road we will swing by and pick up Gizmo…he’s always got the booze. We’ll bring Steve…the colonel Steve Austin…he makes me laugh with his crazy inventions….Roger could be the navigator cause he’s all serious…always in a suit and stuff…he’ll get us there. Let’s see…we’ll get Matt to drive…but he’ll want to advertise Edison Nation on the side of the bus. He’s all serious too…he won’t crash.
Me and Gizmo will hang out on the roof of the invention bus and use flash cards of all the inventors’ inventions….do some advertising. Yeah…we’ll be like billboards.
Wow…this is gonna be great!!!!

I see only two problems with your enthusiasm – although I think it is a great idea! First problem, NOBODY else drives – I have so few pleasures in my life that I can’t let anyone take that away from me. (boo hoo… ;-(
And, I think you and Gizmo, together, AND flashing is just too much to even think about.

Great Todd…see you there. The idea of the show will be to help promote all inventors and provide resources that they need as well as networking ofcoarse but I want booths with prototypers, publicists, manufacturers (I know plastics manufacturers around that area..big ones)…a plastic engineer friend of mine in my inventor’s group, the NJ angel investors group…all the resources an inventor might need…a couple licensing agents I know although I like Edison Nation best….we will be impartial…not like some other shows.
The UIA Inventors group will be there…NJ, Manhattan and Philly inventor groups….BIG party. Hang out after maybe too. Looks like a Friday and Sat because I think the college kids will be involved on Friday…would like Edison Nation and a few others to talk to the college kids as we all promote the inventor’s field….and whatever people suggest we should have.

Ron, you are the man! Thanks for telling us about that story. Sorry if I ruined your visit. LOL I don’t mind my name not being on there as long as the promoted the product. I appreciate you sending me the paper. I found the condensed version of the story on their website. http://www.nj.com/homegarden/design/index.ssf/2...

Ron, I feel your pain, I feel the same way every time I see the Emerycat commercial. I wouldn’t mind so much if AeroLeach were on the airwaves and selling as well. I feel much better, having said that, thanks! L0L!.
Congratulations to you and Roger, I enjoyed reading your article in the Inventors Digest Magazine. I shared the article with my co-workers who are also probably sick of listening to me talk about my inventions. Anyway, the nurses inquired if Handi-straps could be used to lift a patient. I work in a Rehabilitation Hospital and I think this product could also be used for families taking disabled individuals home. We have one woman who is taking her adult son home and she is worried about lifting a wheelchair. My supervisor grabbed the magazine out of my hands to later show the patient’s mother your product. Have you tried marketing to hospitals and medical supply stores and if so, what was some of the feedback you received?
Ron, congratulations again, and I wish you and Roger continued success. Oh yes, and of course, Michael Diep, who I must admit, I am always very proud to say he is my Everyday Edison co-inventor. Therefore, may he continue to have great success as well, and many, many more commercials!

Ron you mentioned booths for prototypers. I should mention the company that help me with our rapid prototype model shown at the end of my video. They gave us a huge discount for making our mock up, in return they wanted to make one for them self’s to show at trade shows. I said that sound fine, but you’ll have to put my Patent application number on the mock up for my own protection, and they did.
This was my first time doing business over the internet, so I was some what nervous. It was so fast and professional, It made for a great first experience.
There website shows the company attends several trade shows a year. Maybe they would attend your up and coming invention convention.
Here’s who I did business with: Andrew McEwen “Engineering Services Manager” Tampa, FL office.

Todd…just from my network alone we know plenty of companies local in NJ like this, actually within 20 miles. I don’t think we will ask companies like your source to come the first year. Between me the NJ SBA, the college and the 3 inventor’s groups in the tri-state area I will ask all to invite companies they feel the inventor needs to know.

Mary…..thanks for showing people. I really appreciate that. We sell to hospitals, EMS and to alot of caregivers at home. I feel really good about helping all those people. I like to think every time someone uses Handi-Straps it is like I am there physically helping them lift “the other end” and that is a wonderful feeling.
We get lots of inquiries and I talk to alot of people for moving people in wheelchairs or lifting their bodies as they can’t themselves. I do know that Handi-Straps is helping many people get outside more etc. because it makes it easier to move them. I am very proud of that.
FDNY and a police station helped research a few years ago for lifting people and victims just by grabbing their body with Handi-Straps and it also works with ALL patient handling equipment very well, even wheelchairs when pulling up a curb or a few stairs which has to be done sometimes and is HARD and DANGEROUS because it takes alot of strength.

Ron,Im everywhere, I’m everywhere, there is no hiding, I’m in your computer, your home town, your billboards, next I will take over your radio and then T.V. LOL
This just seems to be starting out to be my year. I just got an email 3 days ago asking if I would like to be included in a book about the Writers and Artists of Cracked magazine. I wrote gags for them for 10 years, so I was thrilled to be asked. It will come out this year at http://bearmanormedia.bizland.com/id422.html
I have my own book coming out this year and another project in the works hopefully out before June.
So, there will be no hiding from me Ron. Once I get on t-shirts my domination of the world will be complete.

Well Roger it all shows one thing really. The people that are relentless and just don’t give up make it. You are consistently trying for as long as I know this place EN forum to exist. I am here since I found it. We have seen many come and go from this field….and that to me is a great lesson because I believe out of shear effort if one pushes long enough they will see their idea be sold somewhere. Don’t know how many but that is where luck comes in anyway…I think.
Tell ya a story of a crazy lady in my inventor’s group. She made a case for lollipops so if you don’t finish you can stand it in this plastic lollipop display. Many in my inventors group called her nuts with her invention to her face and once sent the woman out in tears. I tried to help the woman by researching the use of her invention for nicotine lollipops because you lick and save. I felt sorry for her, this was 5 years ago or so. Turns out the FDA took nicotine lollipops off the market.
This “crazy lady” (mind you…I was once called delusional by a millionaire) even made a jungle for her lollipop case on her website and had 5000 pieces made in China….with NO sales. She kept trying…and trying and then one day a wedding novelty company bought all her 5000 pieces and put in another order. The company used to fill with candy and decorate and put on tables as a party favor.
The “crazy lady” was successful after all the BIG MOUTHS at the inventors group never sold shit! Nothing!
Well…here is her praise…here is her parade…maybe I will do an article just on this lady for Inventors Digest to show what it takes sometimes…and she sure deserves the praise. See her website, her name is Gloria http://www.glo-golollipopholder.com/

I’m looking at our new Big Bad Invention Bus….thank Julie for donating her bus to us all. Also, see our sponsers on the hood…need a little spirits for the ride.
PLEASE NOTE: The back trailer as you see in the picture is for all my inventions and prototypes…the rest of you people tie your inventions and stuff down on the roof or something…hope no pigeons flying overhead mess up your stuff.
(Excuse me…I take a pain pill for my side effects from treatment once a day…I will tend to post some wacky stuff due to this influence from time to time)

You can come Tania….it is a short train or cab ride from Newark airport. There are hotels all over too. A flight and a hotel for a night is what…$300. The booth will be cheap…like a $100. The SBDC and the college wants it cheap and affordable. Bring Mark too…he could definitely do good there. We will be getting media coverage…I’ll ask Discovery Channel to come too…they will…they like me.

I have submitted gag material to Jay Leno and David Letterman in the past and had a few things picked up. I used to do a lot of humor writing for comics, humor magazines, Cartoonists and radio. It just doesn’t pay anymore like it used too so I quit doing it and have concentrated on the product development field.
