Hi all, need to build a large plastic ball that will hold table top which will fit over ball with supports. Ideally i want it to be made of molded plastic clear enough for light to shine through. The ball would be between 48 and 60 inches in diameter. I don’t have capability to build out of plastic, need input as to other types of materials I might be able to use to get somewhat of the same effect? Input please! Input please! thank you in advance for any suggestions. April

Hi April, just an idea. You know those pop tents that come
in all different shapes that pop open from the inside, well
if you use the same idea, you can take clear bendable plastic strips and shape them into a ball and cover the
whole thing with clear thin vinyl and clear glue it to the frame. Just a suggesion.

Hi April, Have you tried looking at skylights or roof windows? They can customize the size, but it might be somewhat expensive. Also there’s a shop in Menlo Park, CA where you can make your own prototypes, maybe they can help you. www.techshop.ws 1-800-640-1975 Good luck

Thanks Linda, Susan, and Toni, I think i got it now! I took pieces of plastic cut into strips, then made a frame out of some steel strips that i had my friend from the body shop shape for me and cut circle in table top and it all works great. Love the Waterballs very entertaining!!! Thanks
