Since many of us are reading the same inventing related books, I thought it might be fun to have a place where we can discuss them. So if you’re reading a book on inventing, inventors, business, etc, let’s talk about them here… Happy reading!

Tonight, We are going to see Dr. Perlmutter, VIP tickets with a reception and discussion afterwards. Dr. Perlmutter is a world class neurologist who lives in Naples and has been featured on Oprah. Should be an informative evening. Since my car accident I am intrigued by the innerworkings of the brain and curious about Neuroscience in general. Susan and I are excited about the opportunity to spend the evening with Dr. Perlmutter. |

Thanks, I’ve been sitting around waiting for you to visit over the holidays.. :) Actually mostly my reading the boards time hasn’t much synch’d with my time to write responses. A friendly nudge made me realize I’ve maybe posted once or twice in the last month. |

So my son’s kindergarten teacher knows he likes to figure out how things work (not sure where that comes from) and he reads well; she found a book for him when they were clearing out from the library called: It’s a well written and illustrated book of how things from simple machines to computers work. I’m enjoying refreshers in it to remind my thinking like remembering there are three classes of levers. Margaret, if you’d ever like to exchange books, let me know. I tend to read and shelve most of them as there are always books I haven’t read. I may add something along those lines to the INOTC website (I’ve somehow become the IT guy for the Charlotte inventor’s group, p.s. Tomorrow night’s speaker looks to be pretty interesting: http://www.inotc.org/inotc-news/ ) |

Independent inventors handbook (Foreman/Welytok) and product design and development (Ulrich/Eppinger) both highly informative. |

The only invention help book I’ve read so far…. (I’m really a rookie at this) is “One Simple Idea” By: Stephen Key. Very informative, However one thing he said, and didn’t say was this. “Find a great idea and make it an even better idea” Then he didn’t say anything about being careful not to infringe on others patents. Love this thread, and will be picking up some of these books soon!! THANKS GUYS!!! :) |

Yeah, it is just diluted for the mouthwash. That is why listerine commercials say that it kills 99.9% of germs. That is the same schtick as cleaning products unlike other mouthwashes that “leave your mouth minty fresh”. Interesting… |

I have read both of Daymond John’s books. I liked “Display of Power” but I found “The Brand Within” to be much more informative. He shares in great details how he got to be successful as well as other people who have become successful brands in their own right. One piece of advice that comes to mind is advice he was given by LL Cool J was “stalk like a pregnant woman”! I loved Daymond’s advice on getting the attention of a CEO! I have personally used Daymond’s advice & have been successful in getting a CEO’s attention! “The Brand Within” is the only book I’ve read that has suggestions you can put to use right away! Also want to learn more about Daymond; you should follow him (as he mentions in his books) on Twitter @TheSharkDaymond as well as like his fan page Daymond John on FaceBook. |

I’ll throw two into the mix: - Hardcore Inventing by Robert Yonover, PHD Both give “real-world” experiences about the pitfalls along the road to the big league and how not to follow the delusions of grandeur of a billionaire. (Just thought I would add that in Chappy – all in good humor.) |

Margaret, I am thirtyseven % through… he just analyzed Jimmy Buffet to fit his item, label, brand, lifestyle model. I am most interested in books that we can take on and discuss along the way. |

For all of us that want that next “BIG” thing, The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell was very informative. A little overdone but still informative. |
