I know most of You will be glued to the tubes..So I hope you have a goody day, Unfortunately I don’t understand football and besides they play so rough, and hit each other too hard.. Maybe I’m too girly :) so while you folks have fun watching the Super Bowl.. I will be watching my Girly channel Lifetime for Women and I will try to invent something.. :) have fun, no drinking and driving, and stay cool don’t let no one get you upset it your day!!!

All I did was post some cold, hard facts about the Giants and he tells ME to get a grip… Too funny!

Get a grip, Beadle… the Giants WON the Super Bowl and that’s just how it is baby!

I “never miss a chance to take a shot at you”? YOU posted, through salty tears I’m sure, about
how the Giants were the worst team in history to ever win the Super Bowl…. YOU were the one
doing the shooting, all I did was post their beautiful LOGO, since they ARE infact the Champions!

The powers that be saw to it that the Giants and Patriots were together at the Bowl; take your frustrations
out on them!
I haven’t read any commentary that the Giants OR the Patriots cheated during the game, it was won fair and
square… both teams played their best, meaning one would HAVE to win, and it was the Giants this time! It
just as easily could have been the Patriots, so just take a deep breath and LET IT GO… I’m sure your life
wasn’t adversely altered by the outcome, so there’s no sense in trying to spawn a controversy when there is NONE!

And HOW conveniant…. a SPAM shows up on the heels of Beadle’s frustrated post!

Good old Frank, never misses a chance to take a shot at me.

The NY Giants just became the first team ever to win a super bowl that:

Lost four straight games during the regular season
Finished the season with a 9 & 7 record
Allowed an average of 25 points per game during the regular season
Was last in the league in rushing yeards during the regular season

Surely the bar for winning a super bowl ring has never been lower…

@John – Yes, I meant TEXAS Tavern (typed that while in church and had to hurry.. lol)

Texas Tavern is not the place with the peanuts, it is a small 10-stool diner downtown that’s
been open continuously for 82 years this coming Saturday. (btw, on their anniversary day each
year, menu items are priced accordingly, ie: Saturday everything is .82 cents)

Aaron and I had a blast yesterday, and didn’t get back home until after 9pm… Roanoke’s about
a two hour drive, but the roads were wet and US220 from Va into NC isn’t straight OR well lit, so
we took our time… of course, he was snoozing most of the way back) <:-)

Greg – it’s true that I am viewed as a younger Alan Alda for this but it is not without personal cost to me. Though I have no interest in football I also have no interest in Colin Firth, but somehow the DVR keeps getting paused by my wife in direct proportion to the frilliness of Colin’s shirt and the tightness of his pants. There’s always supposedly a good reason, like getting up to get a snack, but I have my suspicions…

But I find if I just make this one big, dramatic “sacrifice” each year it gets me a free pass for all kinds of insensitive behavior and screw-ups for the rest of the year…

Robert, you bastard. I spend all year charading around in Cathy ’s world as a uniquely sensitive guy; not like all the other knuckle draggers, so I can be one on a couple days a year and here you have, in one post, threatened all that work…“an all-day Jane Austen marathon”! Are you kidding me?!? How can a guy compete with that. The rest of my day will be lived in terror that Cathy might see your post. She loves Jane.

Frank:

Did you mean to say the Texas Tavern in Roanoke? Is that the place that has barrels of peanuts set out; and you snack on these while you are waiting for a free table. I seem to remember that patrons were expected to drop their empty peanut shells right on the floor.

What is this “Super Bowl” you speak of? I have noticed the roads are deserted – people must be at church.

My wife and I are in the middle of an all-day Jane Austen movie marathon at the moment and looking forward to the new “Downton Abbey” tonight. First we have to make it through “Pride and Prejudice” though.

Okay, even though I’ve lived in New England, I’m rooting for the Giants because my son’s in NY. I just made 2 chocolate pies for a Super Bowl party. Personally, I just look at this day as an excuse to pig out! <|:-D

Not me, Yolanda… if the Super Bowl were being played in my backyard, I wouldn’t go out on the
deck to watch it!
Taxas Tavern in Roanoke always has half-off everything on their menu on Super Bowl Sunday, so
my grandson and I are headed up there after church…. he’s old enough now to enjoy seeing
some of mine and Lisa’s old stomping grounds, to include seeing all the trains at the N&W Yards,
and the view of Roanoke from atop Mill Mountain at dusk when the big STAR lights up!!

Yo:

Actually you should look at the game from another angle and see the different strategies used to advance the line of scrimmage. Some plays only gain 1 or 2 yards (and that’s ok); whereby others result in a touchdown. As in business, you only want to use the right person with a known track record for a particular job; that’s the way teams are built.

So, when the game is on today; spend some time and see if you can spot the strategies.
