After countless hours of research from our review team, the top ideas from our first Innovation Fund series are starting to make it to the top. A name that will go down in history as the very first idea ever selected for the Edison Nation Innovation Fund is Clifford Nowack!
Congratulations Clifford!
Clifford’s idea will now move on to the Concept Research Phase, our first stage gate after selection for the Fund. Historically, just about every product ever created on this planet has gone through a series of stage gates, passing each one on its way to a store shelf. And yes, it’s possible that a product may fail to pass from one stage to the next but reaching this level means that it’s on the fast-track to our development process and that we’ll be putting all of our resources behind it to do everything we can to make it a success.
Don’t let the name “Concept Research” fool you – this is a very active phase where we’ll not only be analyzing the market and getting inside the heads of the end-users, but we’ll also be re-imagining his product and its applications once we have all of the research under our belts. Clifford is in for quite a ride and we can’t wait to get started!
If your idea is still active in the first series, have no fear, Clifford is just the first one to make it. More will come!

Clifford Nowack is here specifically announced as “the first Innovation Fund selection” which leaves me with a question and thought.
With perhaps thousands of submissions and importantly, submissions opportunities for four or five different product categories in each innovation fund program –are you telling me only one inventor/idea was selected from each innovation fund program? I had the impression that multiple inventors/ideas; would have been selected to fill each product categories.
A quote of Edison Nation states; “The Edison Nation Innovation Fund is designed to develop and bring your product idea to market, much like on the television series but we have the flexibility to accept many more ideas.”
Many more ideas –then how is it that only one idea is selected out of perhaps thousands of submissions? Then again which product category was Clifford Nowack idea selected from in the first innovation? If we assume that perhaps Clifford Nowack idea is a Kitchenware product and thus was selected from the Kitchenware category; then what became of the other product categories?
Perhaps, I didn’t understand both innovation funds and their various product categories; including the amount of ideas that would be selected.
