Hi Carol So, as I understand it, even if our submission is with BB&B we can submit it to the ASOTV as well? Thanks again, you are such a help. Good luck to all! |

You’re right Carol! We also just announced one of the three finalists has been selected for the first search. The other two finalists are still in consideration as well. Please don’t post questions here – post them on the official LPS thread so that John doesn’t miss them: http://www.edisonnation.com/forums/expert-q-and… Oh, and if you click that link, you can find out who was selected for ASOTV 1, too :-) |

You sure can have one idea submitted into multiple searches. Right now, I have about 3 or 4 ideas still in the running in about 3 different searches. When you roll an existing idea into another search, it will automatically show up on your dashboard as G3. I found it really ironic when I submitted a new idea to LB, and also rolled it into BB&B. It sat on G1 on LB for a while, but was on G3 in BB&B. Go figure! Matt’s right – no official questions here, this is just for encouragement and building excitement! Also, John M just posted that Phil Avery’s product idea was chosen in the first ASOTV LPS. Congratulations Phil! |

Matt, I just want to thank you and all of the EN team for all you do. I can’t imagine how many hours you must spend to make all of these dreams come true for so many people. And, the fact that so many sponsors have returned for a second LPS really speaks well of EN! I believe that the good times are really just getting started and I can’t wait to see what happens next. |

Oh! What fun!! I was hoping that ASOTV would be back. I came here too late for the first one. I’m am so completely amazed and impressed by the Edison Nation experience. I’m having the time of my life — even if I collect some Rs along the way, this experience has changed me already. Being part of all this makes you think bigger, and dream bigger. Totally excited for this one! THanks Edison Nation! : ) Oh, by the way, it must have been fate. My husband bought me an ASOTV classic, the Snuggie last night! LOL. A premonition?? |

Good luck to all on the ASOTV II search and thanks for all the support you’ve given me on these boards. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again this is a great community and we are all in it together. I hope they find more products to make from lots of us here. I’ve got to rummage through my ideas they haven’t seen yet and find a few that work to enter! |

If you know of any trade shows in the Philly area could you give me a heads up. I’m in the Poconos – only about 2 hours (less w/o trafic)to get to Philly. I have 2 at G3 but they are at G3 cause they were already in the system for the LB & BBB searches. |

I have just submitted an idea and. was wondering. I am sitting at a 2.5 and i thought if you were at a g3 in other searches you automatically went to a g3 in others. Does anyone know? Thanks. |

I also had to actually go in and pay again to submit to asotvII. I thought it automatically got submitted. Does that sound right? |

Tiffany, did you go to the open searches section and click on submit an existing idea or submit a new idea? If you clicked on submit an existing idea, a drop down menu of all the ideas in your database comes up and you pick the one you want, click submit and it is entered into the new search. Rolled over ideas automatically go to G3. Since you paid again, you probably clicked on submit a new idea and had to retype your entire submission right? If this is the case, you may want to send an email off to the EN team and ask them their advice. Hope this helps. Good luck |

Tiffany, Again, if it is the same idea, and you selected “submit an existing idea” it should automatically advance to G3, whether or not it has reached G3 in the original LPS. |

Ali & Tiffany, if it makes you feel any better, look at it this way: each LPS has it’s own submission form and while they are basically the same, each often has it’s own particular questions that often go unanswered when an idea is rolled into a different LPS. Ex: the form for LB asked for how the product will enhance the home chefs cooking experience, whereas the ASOTV asked for potential for upsells, downsells, and continuity items. So, if you look at it that way, maybe it wasn’t such a bad mistake after all. |

Thanks Cheryl. If I didn’t always try to look on the bright side, I’d have surrendered to despair a looooonnnng time ago. It’s too easy to let doubt get a hold on you, and when it does, it just grows and life becomes a series of disappointments and regrets. Of course, it is getting harder to see the bright side of so many R8’s!!!!! |

Yes you can go in and edit any of your submissions. Everything except the 5 word description. I saw on asotv that they did have a few different questions. Thanks for the info. I put 2 and 2 together and understand that you can “submit a existing idea” and answer the new questions. Perfect! |

Here’s an interesting thought about DRTV and infomercials from Jordan Pine. Wednesday, May 13 Whenever I have questions about the media environment, the first person I turn to is Dick Wechsler, president of Lockard & Wechsler Direct. If there were such thing as a PhD in DR media, Dick would be known as “Dr. Wechsler.” As busy as he is running a successful agency, Dick was kind enough to write the guest post below, which explains what’s happening and what we can expect. Dick writes: Few factors affect the health of the DRTV business more than available and affordable television inventory. With the world mired in a deep recession, one would expect television inventory to be widely available at fire sale rates. That isn’t the case. In fact, the market for DRTV inventory, particularly two-minute avails, is extremely tight. Putting emotional frustrations aside, there are real factors shaping the current media environment. There’s a good chance we’ll be contending with these factors for some time to come. 1. There is a real reduction in the number of commercial minutes available. There were 15% fewer commercial minutes in January 2009 than in January 2008. There were 10% fewer commercial minutes in February 2009 than in February 2008. This contraction places significant pressure on inventory that would normally be available to DRTV advertisers. 2. The 2009 Cable Upfront Market, which follows a calendar year, was the strongest in history. Upfront contracts are inflexible in the first quarter of the deals. The strength of the Cable Upfront explains why 1Q was surprisingly tight for DRTV despite the economic downturn. In fact, the progressive growth of the Cable Upfront market over the past three to five years is largely responsible for the tightening of the 1Q DRTV market over that same period. 3. Poor economic conditions did prompt many Upfront advertisers to release inventory back into the market as is permitted under their contracts. However, much of this inventory never found its way to the DRTV scatter market. Why? Because the advertisers who released it were allowed by the cable networks to purchase it back at lower rates than they had negotiated in the Upfronts. These buys are taking place week to week, creating a very volatile market. 4. Going forward, we expect the Upfront Market to weaken and the Scatter Market to strengthen creating even greater inventory and pricing volatility. 5. DRTV is a leading indicator of the economy. Inventory began to open up in 2Q 2008 and response rates were strong. The economy began to unravel in 3Q. We’ve experienced a progressive tightening of inventory since January of this year and a corresponding weakening of response rates. So, going forward, expect the DRTV media market to be choppy. Despite growing unemployment and a weak economy, very real factors have affected the television marketplace and the opportunities one would expect to be available to DRTV advertisers. I’m bumping this thread back up to the top in an attempt to avoid confusion on the Petsmart/ASOTV thread. I say we post here for ASOTV II and let the Petsmart LPS take over that thread since they are seeing some action. Maybe we can start a new G7 count here. This is the last list that was done on the other thread. If there’s anyone else, just copy this list to your reply and add your name. Good luck everyone! Hopefully we’ll hear something soon… ASOTV II – G7’s |

I would guess that they didn’t know. From what Marla had said, all of the ideas were presented to each of the ASOTV companies, so if they knew we probably all would have known. I just hope we will all know soon one way or the other. |

So I’m guessing a whole bunch of R8’s are going to light up after the next presentation. Have any of the 106 finalists ever had a presentation date on their dash? Seems to me that ASOTV partners would limit their products to specific categories. |

I am still a G7 in the previous ASOTV search and my dashboard still hasn’t changed. They tell me when there is a date it will change. I’m wondering if I could put my idea in the ASOV II search? |

ASOTV II III – which one is this? I think I’m on the list – by reading some of the posts it looks like of the 6 companies to present to 4 have picked? My idea is for a bbq/kitchen tool. I made it to R8 on the Lifetime brands search so I’m hoping I still stay in the ASOTV. |
