Boy Scouts of America Question

My daughter has come up with a very good, idea for The Boy Scouts of America Innovation Challenge Live Product Search. In reality she has come up with a lot really great ideas, the only issue is we need to wait for technology to catch up; it is amazing how free, flowing and without limits a child’s mind is.

My question – is it okay to submit her idea to multiple open Live Product Searches if it fits the criteria, as long as it was submitted to The Boy Scouts of America Innovation Challenge, Live Product Search first?

If it is submitted to The Boy Scouts of America Innovation Challenge Live Product Search 1st, then others, will her name/rights carrier with her idea to the other submissions.

(She’s a good kid, unpredictable, and a bit eccentric – all great qualities, but to her detriment she is her father’s daughter)

I truly appreciate everyone’s insight and opinions
Thanks

You’re welcome, Kevin. I should have added in my previous response that there is one key difference between the Boy Scouts Innovation Challenge Innovator Agreement and the standard Edison Nation Innovator Agreements that govern Edison Nation’s other Live Product Searches: the Boy Scouts Innovation Challenge Innovator Agreement contains a provision that allows Edison Nation to recoup its development costs if an idea is chosen as a finalist, developed and ultimately introduced to the marketplace. For Live Product Searches that are sponsored by our other partners, the Innovator Agreements do not contain this provision, as the search sponsor is generally responsible for the development costs of the products it chooses to license.

As always, read each Innovator Agreement carefully and consult with an attorney of your choosing if you have specific questions regarding your obligations arising thereunder.

Hi, Kevin,

The short answer to your question is yes: we encourage inventors to submit a single idea to multiples searches, provided that the idea is a good fit with the criteria for each search. Remember that for each Live Product Search to which you submit your daughter’s idea, you will be entering into a separate Edison Nation Innovator Agreement for each individual search. This agreement governs the terms and conditions of your partnership with Edison Nation, should your daughter’s idea be chosen as a finalist. You can review the Innovator Agreement by visiting the following link:
