Fisher-Price wants to see your innovative ideas for mechanical dolls, plush and plastic characters that bring these toys to life with compelling, entertaining and interactive features that will make them the next must-have item.
Think about these considerations and requirements when submitting your ideas:
- Concepts that demonstrate a working mechanism via video or prototype will receive priority consideration. A breadboard that demonstrates the function and mechanism outside of the sample is acceptable, and at a minimum, a sketch of a proposed mechanism will be considered, but is not optimal
- Keep in mind $20 maximum cost of goods when proposing mechanisms, components and materials
- Mechanisms must be able to be manufactured and should utilize known production techniques (your submissions do not have to be fully engineered, but you should take this into account for future production)
- Your mechanisms should utilize traditional toy standard direct current motors (expensive high-tech. motors are great but will not be affordable in production)
Ok, Get to it! Happy Inventing!

So is it normal not to here a peep after a presentation day? Not even a " We’re back from pitching ideas, safe and sound."
More than curious.

I joined this forum yesterday, but had this toy idea done months ago. Sell sheet, video and everything. I’ll give it a shot and see what happens.

Thanks Philip. You too! I think you should submit yours even thought it might be just outside the box. For $20, if you think it’s a good fit…why not. Then you can always enter it into others at a later date if it goes out. That’s my thoughts :-)

This reads like a pretty specific search: show a mechanism to make “mechanical dolls, plush and plastic characters” come to life. What if we have an idea for a whole new breed of mechanical toy that goes beyond just a mechanism? Should I submit it in hopes of consideration it or does it just fall too outside the scope of the search? Assuming it was a brilliant, would EN show it to Fisher Price even though it wasn’t what they were looking for?

It reads to me, that they are NOT looking for innovation here. They seem to be looking for a nifty unique product with WOW factor.

I’m excited about this one, but some what confused. Just not sure how detailed they need the mechanism. Especially if it’s something not done before.

Need to do my homework on this search. (Which is very cool btw). Anybody have a link on the current type of motor most prevelant in the industry? Or a video from youtube showing something for a baseline on the mechanical concept? I kind of need a foundation point. If not I’ll dig around this weekend and see what I can share with the group if anything looks good.
