Since the Walmart Submission deadline hasn’t been reached yet, we probably won’t see a lot of movement on the dashboards. Good Luck to all.

Think POSITIVE! Think about how excited you will be when you go G8 and you cash the check for $2,500!! The red X is everybodys fear. If you get the red X, so what, there will always be other searches. The fact that you are willing to try is what’s important!

Linda- That’s a G2 and that’s a good thing. A green check mark is even better as the numbers get higher. And a green check at 8 is GREAT! Hope you see that G8 soon! Good Luck!

I am new to this site. However, I’m finding myself becoming more and more of a “dashboard junkie”. 18 dashboards – that is awesome!! How many are the same idea? I have one idea in several LPSs. Not in Walmart. Best wishes.

Hi Tracy,

Welcome! I have 8 different ideas in the searches. Hope to have more soon. It’s definitely easy to become addicted to watching the dashboards. Best of luck to you with your idea!

So, is there a time of day when the G level will change. Mine is only at a G2 and did it the first weekday, i posted mine saturday afternoon. It was changed late in the day on monday. Will they always be changed at the end of a work day, or is it random..?

well one things for sure and that is the fact that this many people would never get together and talk about their progress in a cafe. I mean this is a cool way to get to know other people and invent new stuff. i m at G3. Hey all!!!!!

From what I’ve learned on the BB&B LPS is that going from G1 – G3 is fairly quick – matter of days. Then you can be on G3 for weeks, because this is when they start looking closely at your inventions. Every step after can take weeks too. As I recall, G3 was the longest – several weeks, then the other steps took a little less time each. It’s a grueling process! But the time between G6 an G7 was very short – a day or two. Then G7 is an eternity! The search sponsor has 45 days to decide, but can choose to take longer. At least they’re thorough!

Even if I don’t make G8, I find comfort in Phillip Avery’s Micro Blog under the heading, “Successful Failure”. In his failure with one of his inventions, he’s momentarily floored, but then he finds inspiration to make his invention work better and ups his diligence in research and literally goes back to the drawing board on his prototype and I guess what gets to me is – THE PROCESS – makes him happy. Inventing is a creative process, and it’s an extremely rewarding thing to do, in and of itself. OF COURSE, it goes without saying that the validation of a G8 would make the creative process all the more enjoyable and fulfilling in a financial payback, but I guess I’m just trying to psyche myself out a little bit so as to not get my hopes up, and just enjoy the ride. I’m still at G3 on the Walmart search for quite some time now.

Mary Ann – I totally agree. It’s the idea and the process that is exhilarating. That’s why I love Edison Nation – I finally have an outlet for ideas. To get a challenge, come up with an idea, turn it over to the experts and move on to another cool idea is just the greatest thing!

I feel the same way Renee, my head is clogged full of ideas I need to get out. I finally mentioned the idea I submitted to my father in law, who, is a retired lawyer who was also a patent lawyer. I once years ago told him about one of my ideas and he really didn’t seem to want to get involved, so I never asked again for advice. But, when I told him of my idea that I submitted here, he lit up. I heard that lawyer man come back out of hiding. He said a bunch of gobbly goop I didn’t understand, but, he sounded interested, he sounded interested. I’ve known this man for over 30 years and for once he thinks I have a good idea..lol….lol.

Renee & Linda,
I’m with you both. I love coming up the ideas and passing them over to EN for the details. The dashboard adds the mystery that keeps me checking in every chance I get. This is the greatest experience. Green is Good!! I even have that taped to my computer screen. :)

So nice to see so many people that are positive and are supportive of each other:)

Friends and family are a great source of encouragement, however, other inventors know the passion we all have in our hearts..

Again, best of luck to everyone!

I don’t think anybody gets past G3 until the deadline date has passed. By definition, level 4 is where they compare all the submissions against each other, so I doubt they want to exclude anyone until they see what they get. Hopefully we’ll see some dashboard movement soon (green of course!)

I’m amazed at “several” G3’s. How do you find the time?? Kudos! I have ONE and I about stabbed my eyes out getting the stupid thing drawn! I have no drawing program other than what’s on Microsoft Word and it’s pathetic. It’s the computer equivalent of drawing with your feet…wearing hiking boots.

Renee, you should try Microsoft Publisher – it is free with the MS office Suite and it’s not too shabby once you get around some of the oddities. I have drawn out many a sell sheet and achieved G7’s using only this program.

Thanks Michael. I just looked in my applications and I don’t have Publisher – but I’m using Office 2004. I also have tried Google Sketch-up which is a free download. It’s pretty amazing – for drawing buildings but haven’t had much luck with products.

Time to invest in a real drawing program I guess!

Good luck with all your G’s!

Hi everyone,

Here is a link to some free drawing programs I found. From the descriptions it looked like one or two may be useful and work ok for those without other expensive purchased programs. Also if anyone tries them out and likes any of them you may want to start another thread so that others can easily find free programs for their drawings.
