This is a very interesting category. We are now able to change lives. Thank you E.N. for this opportunity and responsibility. Medical Innovation is ever changing but a tough category with a LOT of regulations. Who is on this ride?

Mogie and Michael…Wow, I’m so impressed with both of your ideas. Mogie, wouldn’t our government need and want what you developed? They both would help change lives for the better, and sound like winners! I too have a patent . IT has about 10 years or so on it. I’m excited about the chance of it being selected as then the public could then “know” about it, as marketing is what it needs! I designed a garment that covers personal body areas during a shower, bathing and clothing changes, solving the problem of embarrassment in the presence of a caregiver. It doesn’t cure anthing, but sure helps keep the dignity.
I wish you both the best!
Oh..Mogie, no picture?

Thanks for that Robin,At final status also….Our patent puts the power back into the hands of EN literally. It is a Sports- Rehab piece that can even benefit Seniors to firmly hold a cup of coffee with confidence.Trademarked Hand Grenaidz,It rotates and pivots while working your fingers, hands, wrists and forearms. We appreciate being in this search and the best to all still in it.God Bless,

Robin, I’m still green. Its a product that has a patent so probably easier for EN to evaluate in this sort of search. I’m pretty confident it is a product that will sell in developed countries as it has been designed to help with the fight against Healthcare Acquired Infections. Hopefully some company will share my optimism!

Definitely good advice, Chris! And those university inventor-assistance offices are directed more to help students, faculty, and alumni. Again, be very cautious about what you agree to and what you will get in return.

@ Jim I know you are correct in all you are saying. I was excited about the possibilities of using my local university as well. They have an Entrepreneurship Program as well as manufacturing capabilities. I contacted the director and he set up a meeting with me quickly. After a good meeting, he ended the conversation by saying everything completed in conjunction with the University would then become property of the University. So definitely be careful and know all the details of the situation before you dive in.

@Cheryl – Yes! Please keep us informed, because we can all possibly learn something from this. Check especially for any significant news coming out of their engineering department (or medical, biology, chemistry departments, etc.) and you may be able to identify a professor specialized in the field of your invention. Don’t underestimate the abilities of doctoral-candidate researchers at the ‘U’ either. There are some very good ones. Best wishes to you.

@ Chappy….Your apology was worth the ‘ouch’. Honestly, it was funny. Seriously, men sometimes just don’t understand women. Like if my hubby ever said that my jeans made my ‘tush’ look good—-I would be crushed. The only thing I would hear was that my tush didn’t look good in other jeans. :-D Ha, ha

@Cheryl – I have often said to check with a local university that regularly receives funding for research that’s done in the field of your invention. You can check the credentials of professors online by looking at newscasts that identify their accomplishments. Once you find one that you think you can reasonably trust, make an appointment to discuss what your invention relates to and what help you may need to bring it closer to the market. Sooner or later you’ll have to trust somebody with your invention and unfortunately they may not be as trustworthy as EN. So just be very careful. You’ll probably find out that most professors are more than willing to assist you in your endeavors. However, remember whenever you get involved in academia that your invention can quickly become a group effort. Professors have a lot more reasons why they have to ‘succeed’ and that could mean trouble for you. Tread cautiously, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how much trustworthy help is a available at that local ‘U’.

My guess is EN prepares and presents candidate inventions to a special selection-panel comprised of manufacturers, venture capitalists, experts in the particular field of the invention, and other interested parties. So it really is a ‘presentation’ per se. I believe Scott or Matt previously described the process somewhere in more detail.

I would like to know…….where can I go now with my idea that went R7? I don’t want to give up on it! I have never done this inventing stuff and have no idea what to do with just an idea…..without a prototype or such. Are there any universities that have programs that help develop invention ideas? I haven’t any funds to really put into it! Wish I did! There has got to be a way to go forward with an idea?

The products that are still is this must be phenominal. Some of the most respected people got knocked out… I mean

Mark Stark with an invention better than the Stark hand,

Robert who is so business savvy,

Michael “Master of the Tracks” – “Fabulous Phenom” Haegerty out with an R7? What has this world come to?

Ralf the “No Drip” Machesky TKO but he went down swinging

Then Lisa a faithful member and wonderful inventor

Mine was actually designed by an MD that has noticed a problem and we found a ton of research that defined the problem. I feared that there may already be a device int he works and that we may go out at “Final IP”. But we sailed through that and I managed to keep the stumps that use to be my nail beds. EN has better than that though.

WOW! HUGE respect for those still in this. I wish the best for you. EN is a great place!

Betsy, nothing durrogatory was meant by that and I appologize if it came off hurtful, I didn’t mean it like that. Perhaps I used the word in the wrong context. I feel like you are the Mary Poppins/Motherly entity of the forums. Your cheery disposition, is the sunset and sunrise over the landscape of EN. By ‘Matronly’, I meant Motherly. You are after all a Mother and wife and you hold your family in the highest regard. You are always there to cheer us up when we are down. Never a foul or challenging thing to say about anybody, always agreeable, light hearted and fun.

“Matronly”, in my mind and as my intent, does not have anything negative about it. I guess I could have left Matronly out and just say Guest of honor. That would not have adequately described my true position. Please accept my appologies if you were offended. I am sorry

Chappy!

Well, I feel better after reading the positive comments on at least getting to G6! Thanks everyone~! I got to G6 with only a written description of my device….no pics, drawings, diagrams or prototype. So, guess I’ll accept it as an inexpensive patent search! Now, what should one do? If we know there is no problem with patents, what would be the best route to go? I’d like to get a patent on my device, but I know they are quite pricey, aren’t they?

I lost both of my G6s today. My dashboard is looking a little bare ;-) If I was a conspiracy theorist I would say that since Roger has joined EN I have been receiving Xs… But I know that is not the case, just a coincidence… lol

Our products got through G6 and EN really did us a huge favor in doing the IP research. That is Gold all on its own. I am really appreciative of the time and effort they put into selecting the very best products to take to market. Thank you EN for the opportunity!

Now that I’m out of the running for The medical search, I wonder if it could mean that there was enough interest in it that I should still pursue my idea? I don’t know if EN had parties interested in the type of Idea that I have or, that the idea totally stunk? But, getting thru to G6 should mean that it has some potential, wouldn’t it? Anyone have any insight on whether others have taken their ideas that didn’t fly with EN and succeeded in getting it to maret thru another company or such? I really think my idea would be very beneficial to those it would serve. I’ve been a nurse for 24 years and I have seen those affected by what my idea would fix……… Guess I’ll try to submit my next medical idea if they have a catagory for that when the new fund starts?
