Hey Everybody,
I wanted to make sure you saw our latest Live Product Search:
http://www.edisonnation.com/global-consumer-pro...
I know the title of the company isn’t very inspiring but these guys are massive. Don’t underestimate this opportunity!
If you want to guess who they are or have any questions, please direct them to Amy Ellis. BTW, Amy can neither confirm nor deny the name of this company – just like she can’t talk about her time in the CIA.

Hmmm, I figured you guys probably started out in some sort of black opps group. You are so good at cover ups and covert operations my guess is no one even knows the name of your little group.
I’m beginning to suspect you are part of Fulcrom!!!

This is an interesting search because the product is so specific and the existing technology already does such a good job, there’s not much room for improvement. Does anyone use their sticky roller with disposable adhesive layers and say, “gosh this thing sucks!” ? No, a couple passes and you’re fur free.
An electrostatic version still would not have the grip even though it would eliminate the need for peeling off fur coated layers. Hmmm, maybe keeping fur off stuff in the first place….

Matthew… re:
“Hmmm, maybe keeping fur off stuff in the first place….”
Exactly! I have this idea that I ike to call a “Door”. Now… this “door” allows an individual (human being person) to turn a handle-type mechanism to open or shut the “door”. We will call this rotating handle-type mechanism a “knob”.
The function of this “knob” can ONLY be engaged by human being-type people (and perhaps a few monkeys). Those animals that walk on all fours and do not possess an opposable thumb can then be put outside the “door”… to live… at all times… thus eliminating the need for hair removal. (Hair removal may still be needed on a few people)

I believe a prototype will be a must for this one to ensure a concept will work… It will be a challenge, but another good LPS in my opinion. Thanks EN.
Okay, since you guys (Randy and Mathew) took the thread down this path. My idea is a pet shampoo additive: 1 part Shampoo and 1 part Nair. After a couple washes your pet will be fur/hair free and you’ll have no worries about it getting in the carpet.

"And what exactly is that suppose to mean, Mr. Edwards?! I truly don’t appreciate the degrading tone regarding your comments here, Randy! Hey, here’s something…Maybe you can rent a grinding organ and I’ll put on a lil’ cute hat, hold a tin cup and do tricks and collect coins from passerbys…Yeah, you can call me Lupo or Coco, too…Yeah, sure, why not?! I think I’m gonna puke!!!
Does anybody here know what it means when you have worms in your stool? Any help would be greatly appreciated!"

It would be helpful,(IF POSSIBLE) to indicate why the existing adhesive system is not acceptable for this application.

Interesting question Joaco. I’m pretty sure both of the common wand systems (the felt and the roll of tape) are in the public domain at this point and they’re looking for protectable ideas they can get their resources behind.
I can’t begin to explain how large this company is. When they develop a new brand they get behind it in a huge way for a long time. They have massive R&D labs and really understand the importance of developing and protecting intellectual property. So much so that despite their R&D labs, they still spend hundreds of millions of dollars each year licensing innovation from the outside.
I think this is the most overlooked Live Product Search we’ve ever had yet is one of the largest opportunities (I’d say more so even than Amazon and Walmart – that’s how big they are).
We’ve received very few submissions thanks to the fact that we can’t publicize their name. This is a test for them. If you guys perform well on this one, there will be many more to come and we’ll be allowed to promote their name. When we do, it will blow you away. If you’ve discounted this one because they won’t release their name, think twice. There are very few submissions to compete with at this point and a huge opportunity in front of you.

Matt,
I understand when you say this LPS is huge and I totally believe you…but I doubt getting very few submissions is due to the fact that you can’t release their name but that the invention they want is so specific that it makes it difficult to submit many inventions. Inventing a new product to remove pet hair for $10.00 is such a narrow search compared to finding a new kitchen accessory. This is only my thoughts. I think the LPS submissions would be greater if the company could expand what they are looking for, but then again you said this was a test so I hope someone pulls out a doozy for them.

You are right Peggy. There is a benefit to it being so narrow, though. Where else will a retailer tell you exactly what they want you to invent for them? If you can meet their requirements, this represents an excellent opportunity. I think this will be one of those searches where the idea selected was invented after somebody read the description, which provided a spark to the solution — I don’t think it will be somebody who happens to already have it solved and is looking for the right opportunity. I could be wrong, though…

Can you tell us how many submissions you have received to date? Did your recent post gain additional interest?
I also read the description and came up with an idea. Good luck to all!

Hi Tracy,
We don’t disclose the number of submissions for any search (although, we do typically disclose how many ideas we’ll be presenting to a sponsor). I can tell you that we still have very few submissions for this search – and it’s a huge opportunity. If you’ve got an idea in this search, you’re in really good shape :-)

Deborah – take note: The deadline is Tuesday 2:59 AM EST – considered by some to be Monday night. You do not have all day Tuesday to enter the LPS.
Some folks have missed LPS deadlines because they looked only at the date, not the time.
Good luck!

Linda, thank you! I learned that 2:59 EST deadline the hard way on a previous LPS. Especially since I am on West Coast time. Lots of luck to you as well!

I am trying to be optimistic about this one, but the more I think about it, the more red I see… I need to splash my dashboard with Visine to help keep the red out! EN, please look the other way when you get to stage 4 and 6 :)

Just got in last night. Matt’s comment about not having many submissons got the ole creative juices flowin. Besides, I should be an expert on pet hair removal, seeing I live with 4 dogs!
Although, truth be told, instead of getting rid of the hair I’d rather figure out a product that could be made out of all this hair! (Carol can think up the name, she’s good at it.)

Cindy & Carol,

Linda, I thought you were kidding, but it really is a real book! I may just have to get that for my daughter though. My knitting is strictly limited to scarves – nothing fancy or complicated.
Sorry, can’t help you find a use for the clumps….but if someone could find a use for them, it would be a great idea to enter into a green search!

Darn! And I thought we had something going here!
Linda: My sister told me about this guy who has/had a website that you could actually purchase poo. He would gift wrap it and send it to whomever you wanted. Now that’s an entremanure!

Cindy! I am speechless (that don’t happen often!). He’s even got poo photos on his website:
http://www.poopsenders.com/order/
Such a variety! He sells cow, elephant, and gorilla crap. By the quart or gallon.
He must work in a zoo. Or maybe he’s a fraud. I mean, who’s going to know? (Hey, I ordered gorilla poo and you sent me common dog sh*t!! I want my money back!)
Geez. And I’ve been throwing the stuff away. What a waste. (8^(
(Entremanure? Gotta love the English language!)

Colonel, what an educational day this has been! So when I retire and have lots and lots of time, I can sit around and polish poo. Or figure out who I can sell it to.
