Richard… my feed back was rather short but understandable… they “found the concept very interesting but had concerns about [it] when it came to [industry] trends and chose not to pursue it at this time.” Sorry to read about those r8’s, Marc, Bill, and Richard.

I’m out also, got the red X at stage 8 also. Bill I was wondering if others got the same feedback. Ours are strangly similar. Here’s mine: Shat-R-Shield expressed that although the idea was a great one, they are already working on a similar concept. If they were working on similar ideas, then why did they come to Edison Nation for new ideas? So it makes one wonder if they were fishing for good ideas at Edison Nation’s and our work and expense. It would be interesting to see just how similar to what they were presented, to what they come out with.

True Kevin! Not the first time I had what I thought was a good idea and found someone out there just one step ahead of me. Oh well, that’s how the world works

Bill…that’s the bittersweet part of inventing it seems…

It was such a great thought that they are doing it…but just a liiiiiitle bit faster than you. It’s easy for me to say, I know, but even though I know it’s soooo true, it still drives me nuts(er) when I have to hear it myself…at least initially.

Here is the feedback I received on my submission:

“The search sponsor expressed that while they liked the idea, they have already been working on a similar concept.”

Gotta say this particular search has been very exciting so far!! Best wishes to all still in it.

Sadly my first G7 turned into a R8 I had high hopes, so it is depressing. But, I have other ideas still alive in other searches and I will continue to submit and this will NOT be my last G7 and I WILL achieve a G8. Best of luck to those still in.

I don’t check my dash very much unless I get an email, but I’m pretty sure my Shat-R-shield listing has been listed first since my G7 update a few days ago. (I don’t have many active submissions going on)

Yes, I am right, this is always the case AFTER presentation. Before presentation it seems to be a good thing…Well, at least we get feedback. I don’t know why some move up and some don’t before the dreaded X…Anyway, good luck to those in it to win it!!

I just checked my dash board too… If you’re right about hopping to the top after presentation, then I’m out as well…Mine is up on Top now too… Dunno If you’re right or they are just putting “notes” from the presentation in on the backside… That could be little more the Standard Operating procedure… Given only one will actually go thru, the odds still aren’t great for any of us.

My hunch is they are updating the notes from the presentation and waiting for the “final” decision from Shat-R Shield…. Has anyone else’s jumped?

I think what Andrea is saying is that your dashboard will not move for a G8 until you get a call from EN. Since hers moved to the front of the dashboard with no call from EN, there’s a high percentage that her submissions are R8’s. Andrea is a rockstar though………….Her G8 is coming in 2012.

Hi Christian… Welcome to Edison Nation Community! …and you are so right …LED technology is evolving at a lightning pace and offers some very unique possibilities in lighting. Even though my submission for this search wasn’t LED specific, I’m fascinated by the possibilities with this ever evolving technology — especially the latest in OLED lamps… Amazing stuff! I think Philips Lighting is really leading the way in this area. [check out ‘Lumiblade’]

Andrea… I just re-read your post… so you haven’t received an R8 with feedback yet?? …I’m with David, don’t assume that it means an automatic red x. I’ve read a few of Scott’s forum posts on a key time frame being the 6-month window for the Final Consideration Phase… it’s my assumption that they try to delay posting G7 until the last moment in order to give as much of those 6 months as possible for a sponsor’s consideration.

From the Edison Nation Innovator Agreement:
Final Consideration Phase – The period of time starting on the date on which the Innovation is deemed to be a Finalist [G7] and
continuing for 6 months.

…And these recent quick jumps in phases may also be to due to some fast-tracking going on with certain sponsors in the new year. (I’m only guessing on that)

I hear the next biggest step in lighting is LEDs.

So sorry Andrea! But you have a great mind and lots of G7s and I am confident a G8 is in your future. Mine was already at the top since it went G7 at the 11th hour. I guess I will just have to wait and see. Congrats on getting as far as you did though and keep on submitting!

Because when they jump to the top of your list, without changing to the R8, you know…it’s happening to me a lot now…I don’t have feedback yet, seems like mine catches up to me within a few days with feedback. Sometimes they don’t jump to top, and I still go out…anyway, it’s ok, I am still hopeful on these for other searches (1 of which is a G7 on ASOTV Q4) the other is in ASOTV Q1 2012 and at G4…I am used to it…:(

Well all three of mine jumped to the top, I am out…by the way if it jumps after presentation, it’s out…BOOO!! LOL

A big part of my dilemma just got resolved! Not a reference to Mark’s previous post, but best wishes on your invention too, Mark. It sounds great.

I got my fingers & toes crossed… My submission is “Shelf-Ready”, cheap to MFG, easy application, with an associated spin-off product (as well), and ENORMOUS world-wide market….

But then again, dunno… Mine could have been the “Wow, but not for Now”…

Have one at G7. It may be the “Wow, but not for now!” one. I guess I need to learn which companies want inventions that are almost shelf-ready rather than inventions that are a little too high-techy and which require more R&D work. Anybody else faced with the same dilemma?

Glad it happened before your trip and you missed the commotion … but made it there safety and with a story to boot!! Would love to read a blog post one day on how E.N. sets up these LPS partnerships, and even how the execs who show up at the presentations are lined up. Always been curious about that bit of behind the scenes effort.

Hey gang sorry for no update, but this was end of day on Wednesday and than headed off EARLY Thursday morning to St. Louis for Rawlings…and Geoff and I didn’t get back in Charlotte until about 1:00 am this morning…. and you will NEVER believe the reason why… here goes.

As we sit in St. Louis awaiting our flight back through Memphis, this is what the PA announcer at the gate comes on and says :" For those of you awaiting flight to Memphis, the airplane had landed and is coming into the gate, BUT the airplane has come in with a cracked…no shattered windshield !!!"

Are you kidding me ? Where is the Shat-R Shield now !!! Sent an e-mail to their President to relay the story.

Anyways, they had 5 executive members at the meeting, including Owner and their President as well as Controller, Head of Production,etc.

Really interesting folks and good backgrounds. We shared the ideas with them and had really good discussions on slide by slide. Some items were of lower interest and simply a path that they didn’t want to go, there are several on the plate including one they double exclamation pointed !!

Interesting how some where in their “wheelhouse” and some were really good opportunities. I will say even on a few that will get an update that will disappoint the inventors, there were some that they really said WOW, that is an important topic, can see the issue only increasing in concern, but wasn’t the right fit for right now.

But, the creative dialogue was very refreshing and you guys really had them impressed !!

So the dashboards will be updated over the upcoming days, likely early next week.

Hi Andrea! Just curious. Why do you think one is out because it moved to the top of your list? I know they move to the top when updated, but why assume it is bad when no red X? Or is this from prior experience? I wish we would hear something, the curiosity.

One of my shattershields moved to the top of my list so that means its out…no R8 yet, but it’s not good…still 2 in..

Scott, was there an update on this one? How did it go?
