I am SO excited! I just submitted my first idea to a few of the Live Product Searches. So……how long (on average) does it take for EN to beginning looking at your idea and to start to see check marks….or the dreaded X? Is there somewhere on this forum or website that explains each step? I can’t seem to find it.
I love, love, love this website. I have had so many ideas over the years but never had the time or resources to do anything with them. I am so excited!!!!

I LOVE this place! I have my morning coffee reading the forums and try not to obsess about my submissions. It’s such an inspirational place and where else can you share those little invention ideas that pop into your head that would improve your life….and others. My first submission is on R4 so it’s good to know that it’s a hurdle but also a little more nerve wracking. I submitted two more over the past two days. I love how creative I feel from this place. Enjoy this new world!

Welcome Kyle,
Have you noticed the green search button at the top of your forum page? You can type in anything that you have a question about and get a whole list of comments, and good information about it. There is a wealth of information here from some very experienced and talented people who are passionate about innovation and Edison Nation. It is a caring and sharing community. I have found valuable insights in lots of different forums. It pops up everywhere as users are sharing back and forth. Good luck and again. WELCOME

Yes, R4 is the biggest hurdle in my experience too.

Jeff I believe that would be R4. Most of our ideas go down with that banner.

When you guys say G 4 is initially the hardest, do you mean hardest to get to!? As in R4? Or hardest to get past? Like a R5?

Hi Jamie,
I am new here also and I submitted my first search 2 days ago, waiting for that green to move to G2.
My insider points do not reflect the submission because I submitted it and them decided to become an insider after I thought about my other ideas I am working on.
It is very exciting!

Jamie,
Welcome to EN. I’m relativly new here myself and have submitted to 3 searches. ;>) ) was right about number four, it has been my nemisis every time. :-)
EN is a great bunch of people and I’ve found everyone I’ve interacted with to be very supportive. Make use of the forum and ask questions when you need help. I’ve done it and gotten back great information.
But be careful, because Amy Donahue was also right. This place is addictive! I now carry around a drafting pad and tools everywhere I go just in case an idea or solution hits me and I’m getting ready to buy my first mig welder to begin assembling a proto type.
Again, welcome to EN and have fun!

Jamie, isn’t this exciting! :) I’m new here and I have one idea submitted so far. I received one message so far that my idea moved from Stage 1 to Stage 2 within the last few days. I’m so on edge. I really hope that they like my idea! I wish you the best of luck too!!!

Welcome Jamie!! Well, a lot of us have been here for 2 1/2 year and have gone G7 (presentation) a lot, but no contract…it on average takes about 9 months per product if they take their time making decision from start of the search to the last day of the 6 month deadline to make a decision. It’s very very hard to wait that long…BUT it’s fun and if you are a prolific inventor, well, your dashboard updates all the time so it’s like a win a little lottery every week! That’s why its so much fun…good luck, join in and have fun!

It’s taking a lil while for me. I submitted 2 ideas for 7 searches total Sunday night. Stuck on G1 in 4 and got my 3rd G2 today. So they have only looked at 3 so far I guess.

Hi Jamie:
The first three steps are pretty automatic unless it is WAY out of the guidelines. The rest are more in depth. If you click on your submission dashboard, there should be a pop up which explains the stages. 4 is one of the toughest….initially. Then the time starts to drag…until a presentation date is set. Sometimes a great idea moves quick. There is really no set time frame. The innovation fund seems to be slower as EN is the sponsor so to speak and you need more patience for that.
Under the submit your idea there are FAQ’s that explain a lot. And all the forums are full of info. Patience is important, and having fun. Good Luck to you!

Congratulations Jamie! I feel the same way – I love Edison Nation and the opportunities it presents!
This does require patience, at times, the dashboard moves SLOW (especially if you check it several times a day!) – but as you see those green checks begin to appear, it is such an exciting feeling. Many will say - this place is purely addictive!
Keep your ideas flowing and have fun!!!! Happy inventing & best of luck to you!

Welcome Jamie! I think it really depends on quite a few variables. Just rest assured that your check marks will flow before the presentation date. Good luck! You’ll love the people and the process!
