This should be a separate thread but this topic is for throwing around ideas for the name search. It’s like a lottery anyway because what you think is good may not be what the sponsor is looking for.

I can’t get a name I like for the diaper search. I’m trying all combinations of piddle, poopoo, petals, patches, patties, chips, slims, flats. The best I’ve come up with so far is SC slims (SC standing for S#!t Catchers). Anyone else come up with any ideas?

My thought on names is that most manufactures are like the major movie producers looking to make a new movie. They look for sure things like maybe the movie will based on a willdy successful book or get big name actors to join it or produce a sequel. Let’s say the diaper producer already produces “Pampers”. Could call the new product Pampers ToGo or better yet Pampers on the run ;-). I would look at what names are already being used by the major diaper companies and stretch just a little. Good luck.

Here is a link which might help: http://www.rhymer.com/questions.html

You will find a list of “Ten crucial questions when naming your business, product or web site”.

On the right hand side of this link’s page, you can click on “Get advice about naming” or “Namining combinations”.

Although, I like Poo Pockets – a pocket for poo – can’t be clearer than that!

Finally I came up with THE name: Dipey, because that’s exactly what it is, a compact form of diaper. It also complements the word wipey which was also an innovation in packaged sanitary wipey things. Honey, pass me a wipey then pass me the dipey. New parents love to talk like morons. What an instantly recognizeable name and so obvious (perhaps too obvious) and no one has applied it as a diaper brand. I was going to go with Happy or Flappy or Dappy but then the word Dipey came to mind. $500 please!

Hello Michael,

The web team is working on the naming search dashboard and very shortly you will be able to see the status of your idea. When the review team finishes reviewing the names, we will contact the selected inventor and make an announcement on the Edison Nation blog and forum.

Thanks

Hello, the dashboard update is on web developments list however they are very busy. The dashboard will only be 3 steps; submitted, under reviewed, and selected or not, so in the meantime if you have a question about your names status please send a message through the support site.

It may be a couple of weeks but as soon as a name is selected I will announce it here in the Name search forum : )

Ralf, you’re right on with Dipey! Just like Baggie is a compact bag, and doggie is a compact dog, Dipey is a compact diaper. And you’re right, it goes with Wipey, and they’re packing some Wipeys in with the Dipey, so you’ve got Dipey-Wipey. It’s to the point, and humorous to boot. Consumers will identify with having a sense of humor about this product. Even if you have to pay again to submit, it’s worth a try. I enjoy your humor and do hope you win that $500!

Holy crap, ralf! Well, there goes my 5 bucks! I submitted the name diapies about 5 days ago only to find out just now that you had already submitted the same thing (only in singular form, which makes more sense actually since that’s how they’re packaged). Guess that means its a pretty darn good name though, huh? You were first in line, so I guess I’ll just skip a $5 footlong and call it even. Good luck!

No it’s still sufficiently different I think because the spelling’s different and I listed my plural form (diapers are usually named in their plural) as dipeeze as in an ease to use. If I had called it dipease it looks too much like disease. However your first choice of “Holy Crap” might be a winner.

At Bruce above, your idea for a name is scarily similar to what I submitted. When I read that I was like, uh oh. Then I went back and saw that I submitted my entry a week before your post. If you submitted that name as well I guess it will come down to who was first! Good luck.

I entered Snappees, because they’re a snap to use and nappy means diaper in England. I didn’t even realize that the word “pees” was part of the name when I submitted it, which could be a bad thing. Maybe they’ll use the name in the U.K.?

Is anyone having trouble seeing their status for the hanging planter name search? Mine does not show up anywhere (nothing at all, not even what name I submitted). For the diaper name search it does show on my page with no status on it. Does any of you have a status on your diaper submission? Just curious :) Maybe I need to email someone :) Thanks to everyone that replies!

Maria

If you look further down this thread, one will see where “Marla Ball” from the Edison Nation team gave us an updated status on the name search dashboard. That update is now about seven days old.

That response is shown below.

“Hello, the dashboard update is on web developments list however they are very busy. The dashboard will only be 3 steps; submitted, under reviewed, and selected or not, so in the meantime if you have a question about your names status please send a message through the support site.

It may be a couple of weeks but as soon as a name is selected I will announce it here in the Name search forum : )"

Later that same day she also posted an additional update.

It is shown below.

“We will decide the name for Wall Garden Planter by March 1st.”

Hopefully this helps you a little.

Hello Everyone, though Edison Team

Can you please notify the company of my utility Patent 6311872 The hand held disposable dispensing packet for all powders = Baby powders. Which also conveniently fit in your pocket, purse, glove box or briefcase. The packet has dispensing holes on one end and about the size of a credit card.My single packet can also be complimented with the 2 wet wipe packet which is also included in the individually vacuum-packaged disposable diapers. It really couldn’t get better then having all 3 items in the vacuumed diaper packet! This will be the total package in child care, on the go.

ask them if this is something that would interest in.

Well that puts a whole new spin on the name search. They already have a great name yet they don’t want to apply it to their diapers. So there’s a whole hidden reason for the name search. They seem to emphasize transparency in their patent like a nu-skin. Oh, but wait, our brainstorming out loud is disurbing other people.
