Here’s a question, if you submit a great idea to two different live product searches ie skymall & asotv and it’s moving along good and then one of them gets the dreaded R but the other does not. I would think EN reviewers know if you submited to multiple live product searches, if for no other reasons other than ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations (product reviews must be time consuming and have associated labor costs).
My question, do you think EN would give one submission a R if EN thought your submission to the other live product search is a better fit based on product, price point, end user?
Ok I admit my ego is bruised, but my question genuine.
Thanks

Amy,
Thanks so much!
Beadle,
I’ve been here for about 4 years, so I’ve submitted about 10 new ideas per year. I would say I probably have a handful that were entered on earned points. Those 40 ideas have actually been opted in numerous times each. I come up with many more ideas than that, but in doing my due diligence find they are already out there or that they may not be as great as I thought they were :)

Wow Kevin, that’s awesome! My daughter and her mother are big cat lovers too. Maybe she’ll help you come up with a pet related product as those tend to be hot. Good luck!
Holy cow Margaret! 40 submissions? I generally have lots of ideas, but I’d be hard pressed to name that many! I’m guessing at least some of them must be free submissions, no?

Thanks Kevin. It was quite a surprise when they asked me to do it. They were looking for a local EN inventor to do a story with EN. I had never done anything like that, so it was really stepping out of my comfort zone. But I decided it would be a great way to start off the New Year. EN invited me and my daughters to have a tour of EN, and Andrea and Mary from EN were here during filming for moral support. It was such a fun experience. I have about 40 different submissions with EN (not all active at the moment), but I have more on a running list at home to be developed. I’ve been at it for about 4 years, so I hope I can find my way to G8 soon. We just have to keep going until one meets all the requirements and gets before the right set of eyes!

Margaret,
Nice piece on the WBTV, wow 40 ideas, that’s incredible! One of them is bound to be G8!
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone in the EN community is G8 in my book!

Beadlerock,
Thanks for the kind words, yes that angelic Creature is mine: She is the inspiration behind everything I do and everything I want to be, watching her using her imagination and improvising is the source of most my ideas. She comes up with some pretty good ideas, she submitted one to the BSA live product search. I’ll keep y’all posted as to her progress. She wishes it was for GSA. She would give anything to snugle with that beautiful cat in the pic.
Thanks,
Kevin

Margaret, that is key, the right fit for the search. Do more homework, refine the idea, create a great sell sheet, and get the deal.
Taking into account all the aforementioned points my next submission will G8 (great)! Ok I was trying to be funny, its hard, since my 9 to 5 is as an auditor.
In all seriousness, I greatly appreciate everyones help, it will help me with my next submission
Best regards

That is what I real like about EN the EN community, you ask a question or for help and people step up to assist. Both responses are provide a good prospective. Chris you make a great point, it is all about making the deal and that is a good thing! Andrea, homework homework homework will improve your chances and save some money too. I also, like that group idea with signed NDAs. Are they such groups there at EN and if so do you know which forum?
Thanks again, y’alls 2 cents, is worth more than my $25 Big Red “R”

Kevin,
I don’t believe they would give it an R because they think it will be a better fit in the other search. They would likely just give it an R because they don’t think it’s the correct fit for that search. Good luck to you!

Heck yeah your ego gets bruised, but thick skin helps, and you do get used to it…I have been here 2 1/2 years and have no license, but I do go G7 a lot so that’s encouraging..it took me a while to get those G7’s…thinking outside the box and really doing the research on google and google patents helps…try forming a group and maybe all sign NDA’s sometimes a group can help an idea along and make it better…work with a renderer and maybe another person for input…Just my 2 cents…good luck to you!

Hello Kevin,
IMO, no. EN just wants to ink a licensing deal for you/them. If they feel your submission makes the cut, it will be make it to presentation. If it is presented to multiple companies at the same time………………the first one to claim it gets first dibs. Hang in there………My ego has been battered a couple times as well!
