Just thinking…If the sponsors are able to select more than one winner/invention for a search…why are they doing a second search?

I mean if your idea made it to finals and got R8…does that give it a better or worse chance this time around? If they didn’t think it was good enough to choose the first time, what would make it good for the second round?

I can understand how new submissions would have a fighting chance…but if your idea was deemed “not worthy” the first time, what has changed if the criteria is still the same?

Just some food for thought.

Jason – I would put your R8 in the BB&B pet search. Also, if the search has expanded, maybe your idea has a better shot this time. There’s also a chance there may be a different set of buyers this time around. That was the case for BB&B – different buyers for different searches.

It sounds like you a have a great idea. Have you considered a gold membership? You would have a monthly fee of $9.95, but you can submit your same idea to multiples searches and not pay the $25 fee per submission. If you have other ideas, it would cost $20 for the first submission versus $25.

I didn’t enter the first PetSmart search, was just making an observation. I was a Gold Member, but after my wife passed away late last year, I had to put my money toward other things.

The good thing is if you already have an idea in the database and you are a gold member, you simply resubmit it for free…the “possibly bad” thing is that they’ve seen it and turned it down…reguardless at what stage. I’m sure I don’t know all the inner workings, but my understanding is that a company can choose more than one idea…so if your product was a R8…there was some reason they didn’t want it and resubmitting it without changes might not get you any farther.

Anyway…no harm no foul. Its good for some people who were “redlined” to make adjustments and tweaks.

Jason, welcome back! The first PetSmart search was basically for pet toys. This second search is open to ALL pet related products.

HELLO EVERYONE. I STILL CONSIDER MYSELF VERY NEW HERE. WOULD LIKE ANY INPUT ANYONE CAN OFFER TO ME ON THIS QUESTION. LAST PET SMART LPS I MADE IT TO G6 BUT TURNED R7 AT FINALIST STAGE. IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD WORK ON TO BETTER MY CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED FOR FINALIST THIS TIME AROUND. JUST CONFUSED A LITTLE WHY IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN SELECTED AFTER GOING THROUGH ALL THE HARD STAGES TO EVEN GET TO G6. I KNOW MY VIDEO COULD BE BETTER THAN IT WAS. THATS THE ONLY THING I CAN THINK OF. Hi Denise, Congratulations on making it to R7. To me an R7 means your idea was unique and a pretty good fit for the search, but there were other submissions that EN considered to be a better fit than yours for the given search. You need to decide if your product idea is a good fit for Petsmart II given the new search criteria. I received a R7 myself for the first Petsmart search and am resubmitting to Petsmart II. Not wanting to offend, but please use lowercase letters when posting here. The use of all capitol letters is interpreted by many as “SHOUTING”. Good luck.

You are not required to send video. If your idea is simple enough that they would understand it without then I wouldn’t worry about it. But if drawings or video would make more clear what your idea is and does, then I would submit them. You just have to use your judgement about whether video would help your chances or if they could get the point just as well without it.

My wife and I have an idea that we submtted a few days before the deadline that just when from G2 to G3!

Been on PetsmartII LPS since day one, still at G3, Welcome to the hurry up and wait club. Time is on our side, yes it is.

GOOD TO HEAR I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE G3 ON THE PETSMART LPS IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR AWHILE AND I THOUGHT IT MUST NOT OF BEEN A GOOD IDEAD BECAUSE IT HADN’T MOVED————MY ASONTV ONE IS MOVING TWICE AS FAST TO G5

First time I have posted for this one for fear that I might jinx it…

Had Both finished writing and submitted mine within literally minutes of the deadline. It was totally a last minute thing as I was so preoccupied with other things that when I remembered about the deadline it was in the PM of the very last day and I had nothing written or drawn up. I rushed like there was no tomorrow and used of all things “Microsoft Publisher” to prepare a very basic representation. Got the artwork done and with 2 hours till deadline I started writing. Luckily I clicked submit within 15 or so minutes of the bewitching hour and after breathing a sigh of relief collapsed with the aide of Tylenol PM. (had to shut my mind off somehow ;)

Sat at G2 for weeks and then one day it went from G2 to G4 on the same day. R&D was under a week and now it is suffering through Final IP review. Not bad for a few hours of work. LOL Wish they were all like that. ;)

Boy a G2 to G4 this quick may we all be moved, Peace be still is getting old, Congrats.

When EN does R&D (stage 4) are they literally making prototypes like they do on "Everyday Edison "? It seems that with the volume of submissions this would be near impossible. I guess I’m just curious how many staff are activally looking at our ideas at any given time, and what exactly are they doing. Anybody with any insight?

Ryan, just in case what Ralf and William have stated isn’t true, EN will not make a prototype, but only check for design feasibility based on what you submitted to them. They want to know the concept will actually work. If you get to G7 and the sponsor becomes interested, you may be contacted by EN to supply a prototype if you have one.

I feel like an equine behind because when I posted above I was sure that it was for Petsmart because I entered that one first with this same idea and for a lark added it to ASOTV as well. It is in Final IP for ASOTV and not Petsmart where I feel it fits perfectly being a feline product.

Don’t get me wrong I would love to see it as an infomercial but to walk into your local Petsmart and see your product would have been nice ;)
