Presto has now partnered with Edison Nation and wants to know, “What’s next?!” Specifically, Presto would like to consider your leading-edge ideas for small kitchen appliances that improve consumers’ experience through the quality, convenience and speed of food preparation. Who’s In?

Yeah, I’m definitely in this one. This category is the reason I got serious about inventing five years ago. I’m going to test how “leading-edge” they want to get…the killer for me will be price-point.

I checked out the Presto website … They don’t have nearly as many products as I would’ve thought, which gives me great hope!

Good luck, Marvin & Juan!

What’s your background, Marvin? I’m an artist with a lot of complaints and free time, LOL. I really enjoy the designing part of this, even though I’m never really certain my ideas are engineer-able. I entered the Presto search because I do a lot of home-entertaining, and am often thinking, “I wish I had a …”

Hi Pamela. I dabble in multimedia projects but my passion is and always has been for the last 50 years in garage invention . This is a Great opportunity to get your ideas out there in the market place otherwise for you to do it yourself is like putting a million piece jig saw puzzle together.
Best Wishes!

I am in too, G2 today, but I have this same one in for ASOTV and it is currently at G3..never know, my is more of kitchen gadgetry than a specific appliance, but you never know if they want to invest in more kitchen items than just appliances..they have a huge name and in every store I know of…good luck, anyone past say G5 yet? No dates yet either…

I’m in with 2 ideas. One just got to G3, the other is still at G2. It was fun to think about something new for the kitchen.

Hello Everyone, I have an idea that I would like to submit for this product search. I was wondering if anyone has submitted ideas to EN without at least filing a provisional patent first. Thanks!

Hi Morris. Check out the patent forum with the topic “no patent”. I asked about this. Lots of folks are in here with ideas they have been working on for a loooong time, and have patents in varying stages of the process. If you just want to let Edison Nation put it all together, you can be sure they will protect the idea.

Morris, if you really think your idea is worth pursuing after EN if it’s not picked, I would put out a provisional, I spend only $500 for each one of mine with my attorney plus filing fee’s of $110. Its worth it to me to do this before I submit if I feel I have something that if not picked could get into the wrong hands. If you do nothing at the 1 year mark on it, you dont’ have too. You can also have some protection while you seek out a license agreement if you pursue, but protect your idea in the very least! Just my opinion, not the final answer!

I am very excited to have a ASOTV moved into G4. What I did for that submission was a provisional patent myself online and it costs $110 for the submission.
You can go to http:/www./uspto.gov and
on the left-hand side in a blue box you will see a link #4 File Online,
then Launch EFS-Web Unregistered eFiler -for Basic initial filing of patents and then
proceed from there.
Make sure that you download the form http://www.uspto.gov/ebc/portal/efs/Provisional... and upload it with your other documents.
Take your time and make sure your i’s are dotted and your t’s crossed before you finish.

I’m in with a whole new type kitchen pan. I designed it and had it built in China and have been cooking with it the last couple months. I love it. In fact I cooked on it for breakfast and will be using it again this evening. The problem is that it will probably only be a Design patent. Most kitchen products are only covered by design patens. I wonder if Edison Nation is adverse to backing products with only a design patent.

Don.. I would be curious to know that as well. Is there a reason EN might not like a design patent?

Thanks Andrea and Jane, I have money tied up with another patent that is pending right now. I have ideas but not a lot of money to put down for each idea. I was thinking about filing a provisional before submitting an idea to EN but It looks like I don’t need to do this for the live product searches after looking at the FAQ’s. Don’t get me wrong I would definitely file at least a provisional before going directly to a company outside of EN.

By the way Andrea if you don’t mind me asking who is your patent Attorney? 500 for a provisional patent sounds pretty reasonable.

Design patents are much easier to “design around” than utility patents. Some companies won’t even consider products with only a design patent. In the kitchen category however most products are only covered by design patents.

Morris, I sent you a friend request. If you want, I can give you his name and company and tell him I sent you for a discount! There are cheaper ones out there, but I find that he also only charges about $3200 to $3500 for a patent in the end if you use him. Again, you can find cheaper, but great experience is must and I trust this group….

It must depend on the category or type of invention. I took my invention to a large patent law office and they took one look at it and sent it off to their head office to a design patent expert. They felt that for this particular device the “look” of it was the sizzle and felt this was best for me to patent the look. I had a panelist at the show tell me I should have gotten a utility patent and 10 minutes later.. a lawyer that was in the audience came to my booth and said “I don’t know what law school that guy went to but he is dead wrong!” So I feel ok that I have 2-1 for design..

It was for the ASOTV, not Presto. I have a little design for kitchenware, but it is not electric so will have to wait until they are looking for something like this. Perhaps BB&B will be looking soon,or Good Grips, etc.

Hello Everyone, I’m in. I new to the inventing community. I have a vibrating bleder which is patent pending. The blender has a vibrating motor built in. When you pour the unit vibrates and the pour is consitent and effortless. It’s pretty cool to see and fun to use. Good luck all!

1@ G3 – I think the search is stuck – kind of like my computer sometimes. I use this product almost every day and can’t imagine why Presto couldn’t sell millions – oh well, I guess thats just the eternal optimism (or delusion) us inventor types have.
