So who’s been collecting R8’s? We have 5, so far, and I think Carol said she has 6. How many do the rest of you have? We may have to come up with some sort of an award for the member with the most R8’s. We could call it the “Thick Skin” award.
Becky :)

I have too many R8 and honestly lost count. :-))) The only thing I pay attention now is when the checkmarks stay green otherwise it goes to archive. That is the power of possitive thinking.

Fantastic Idea Becky! This gives me something to shoot for and if I screw it up and get a Green on an 8 and ruin my Red collection, I still win!

Exactly, Carol! I didn’t mean for the thread to be negative. I think it is a celebration thread. Getting to G7 is a fantastic accomplishment. If you then get an R8, it’s up to you how you will respond. A true winner will toughen up and allow the “rejection” to propel them forward to the next logical step….determination to discover another route to success. Your route may be to put more effort into your current product and locate another manufacturer to present to or it may be to put that product aside and move on to your next fantastic idea. It’s all in your perspective. R8’s are awesome, if you allow them to be.

3 R8’s and one awesome G8 for me. Got another G7 for ASOTV, so will add to one of my collections. I agree, last night I was feeling more determined than ever after getting my BYB R8.

I have on G7 in progress so I will either join this group with an R8 or get a G8 and be over the moon. Either way I will be even more motivated for the LifeTime Brands LPS. Working on my submission next week of a product I created years ago and use around the kitchen all the time.

Hi Becky – just wanted you to know that I didn’t take this as a negative thread! I see it as a wonderful place to be able to talk to others who have had the same achievement and disappointment. I also believe that if you get enough no’s you will eventually earn your YES!
So, even though I was disappointed (and slightly miffed) yesterday, my eternal optimism has once again kicked in. I have waaaaay to many ideas bouncing around in my brain to quit now!
Besides, you are right, reaching G7 is validation that my ideas are sound, potentially profitable and that I’m not totally loony!
On another note, I wanted to say this: someone (don’t remember who) commented on one of the forums that they interpreted getting a red on 4 as the kiss of death for an idea, I want to tell everyone that a R4 is not bad at all. One of my R8 ideas from springs just went R4 on CTS – just because it wasn’t a fit for that search, it is still a great product idea. So, never give up on an idea that you really believe in just because you get one no (or even 2)!
Ok – now that I’ve said all that….Let the R8 Collection Race begin!

Hi Carol, I didn’t think you thought the thread was negative. Sorry. I seem to create posts that don’t clearly reflect my thoughts. I just didn’t want anyone to think it was negative to count our R8’s. While it is very positive to focus on your ideas that go Green, I think the red ones serve a very crucial purpose in the success process. Every “no” is a step closer to a “yes”, but only if you keep “walking”!
Ha Ha….I’m going to give you a run for your money in the collection race! Put your tennies on girl!
Mike, you have a fantastic collection. Congratulations!
Matt, keep up the good work!
Tania, you are way too creative to get discouraged. All of your hard work will pay off. If you’re anything like me, just the personal growth from entering these searches and collecting my trophies has been worth the battle. I will admit I was very discouraged yesterday, but I’ve found the best way for me to perk back up is to encourage others, so that is the purpose of this thread.
Keep going, everyone!!! If I ever get a job or develop some income, I want to start buying your products!
Becky :)

Toni, sounds good to me. Anytime your in my neighborhood (nw PA), stop on in and we’ll share a pot of coffee. A cup of coffee & a friend to share it with…doesn’t get much better than that!
And Becky….challenge on. I’m pretty sure you just seriously jump-started the competitive part of my brain, so this could be the start of some really great ideas. Thanks – this is going to be a great adventure huh!

I too am very proud of my R8. I only have 1, but anytime one of my idea’s is presented to a major company, well that’s a good thing! I wish the companies could buy all our great idea’s but sadly that is just not going to happen :-)

Hey Becky, does it count as two if one idea goes R8 in two different searches? Not that I’m expecting that of course….I totally expect one of those ideas to mess up my collection and go Green on 8 (I’m hoping the reverse psychology thing works here!)
Or you could look at it this way, John had 7R8 then hit green, so if we follow that precedent, we are almost there too! What do ya think???

oh yeah, it has to count each time it turns R8 :-)

I like it. Yep, it should count every time it turns R8, after all it was evaluated each time and presented to a different sponsor.
Hey, getting a G7 doesn’t necessarily ruin your collection. I would hope that we will continue collecting.
Umm, yeah, I could handle collecting 7 R8’s if I knew it meant the G8 was right around the corner! Actually, now that I think about it, that’s true for everyone. Even 3 R8’s mean the G7 is right around the corner. Every R8 moves you a step closer to the corner. Some may turn the corner after one R8 and others may not turn the corner until after 8 or 9 R8’s, but once we turn the corner I don’t think it will matter how many it took to get there!

Becky, you are sooooo right. The only time G8 isn’t around the corner is if you quit. And I don’t know about you, but I just can’t quit. Every R8 has been a major disappointment, but that doesn’t stop the ideas.
Besides, think how sweet that Success is going to taste after you really earn it! (Lisa Lisa this is a cue for you to supply the sweets :-)

Hello -
I’m new to EN (joined and submitted my first idea yesterday, 3-16-09). Where can I find definition(s) of the codes (R8, G7, etc.) used in this and other forums?
OK – based on additional viewing of other forums, I’m going to guess that the codes mean the following:
G7 = Green/Successful passing of the 7th step in the process
R8 = Red/Unsuccessful experience at the 8th or last step in the process
Have I figured it out?
Thank you.

Wow, that was quite a wait Raf. Sorry about the red.
My ASOTV went R8 today too. So, that brings the grand total to 2R8’s and one R4.

Thanks, Becky! I collected my BYB R8 a while back, this one was for the ASOTV. This idea has been with me for over 8 years, and this process validated the idea enough for me to pursue it further on my own. Working on a sell sheet for it, and we’ll see where it goes.
Sorry to hear Bridget! BBB might be perfect, eh?

Although I’m sorry for your R8’s, I’m impressed that you guys have gotten so far, especially those of you with multiple R8’s. Wow! You guys must come up with really good ideas. I think I’ve only gone as far as R6, and many of my ideas haven’t made it past R4. I think I need to work on some better ideas. Maybe some day I’ll join the ranks of you G7’s. Keep working on those ideas. They are abviously good ones.

In my case it was the same idea that went R8 twice. But, seeing an R8 on ASOTV wasn’t quite as devastating as seeing it on WPH, primarily because it really fit the WPH category. BB&B is DEFINITELY a fit… so I was actually quite excited to see the LPS for that – thank God I’m a woman! My second idea went R4… I’m assuming it was a manufacturing issue. Gonna keep on truckin’ and hope for the best in BB&B!!

Great attitude Bridget! I’m so glad you aren’t letting it discourage you. Personally, I think the fact that your idea went to R8 twice is absolutely amazing….it’s just a matter of time until some smart company picks it!
It’s gonna be a looooong wait. Good Luck!

Right back at ya Carol. ;~) I know your up there with the R8’s too. It IS reassuring knowing that EN believes in my idea enough to want to present to different companies. I know there are different markets for different products – just knowing BB&B is on the West coast gives me hope… since my product could be marketed to consumers in a warmer climate. Plus… BB&B just has cool stuff… and I’m hoping a cool company that I can be proud to be affiliated with will be the right one/pick it up. Regardless, as I’ve said earlier, it’s better off sitting in the EN database than in my notebook! Thanks for all your support Carol, it really means a lot to me!

Greetings Everyday Edisons members!
My name is Jerry and this is my 2nd post (1st in this R8 Collectors Club Forum).
Although, I hoped, wished and prayed for a favorable outcome to my submission to ASOTV…today, Friday, March 20, 2009 I received my answer. An 8R has placed me back in the archive mode. I’ve had a nice run and look forward to other opportunities that will carry me onward to the special “Success” spot or 8G as it is known.
Well…Continued Success to all the remaining 7Gs.
Sincerely,
Jerry M.
