To celebrate their 40th Anniversary, Rexon looks to grow innovation within their product line to develop solutions that will make power tools – such as saws, sanders and drills – easier to use and more functional than ever before.
Key interests for this search include:
• Miter Saws (blade sizes 7 ¼, 8 1/4, 10, 12): both compound and slide miter saws
• Table Saws
• Workbench-related products such as belt/disc sanders
• Drilling-related products such as bench or floor drill presses
Good luck and happy inventing!

There’s no easy way to say it, but R7s sting like hell! Usually at that point the member understandably questions the effectiveness of a system that subjectively determined the EN presentation team had reservations about presenting the invention to the LPS sponsor. Some members take it personally that their hopes and dreams were carelessly thrown into the toilet and they resolve their frustrations by distrusting EN. Other members maintain in their minds that EN knows what they’re doing and they realize the changes coming to EN are for everyone’s benefit. Continuing to trust EN after an R7 sting is a hard thing to do, but rest assured there are many of us still around that do it all the time!

Payment does not have to involved ANY opinion. Could be reduced or offered freely then if such concerns to offend or create a Pandora’s Box.
Perhaps a requirement then is to have little to no ego and sign off an understanding agreement saying as such.
For me, I have little ego and my intention is pure to better figure out how to improve upon that I had submitted along with I imagine the great added enhancements made by EN. I have no doubt involving my preference for utilizing anything EN came up with additionally toward a Patent versus my amateur abilities back in March.
Primary thought and interest is to explore access to seeing any EN work and/or walk-thru of such of the process. Doesn’t have to be available to everyone either. I will be happy to take whatever pyschological tests or otherwise EN wants to illustrate my high emotional IQ and my ego is well mannered and small to handle such access. :-D
Improvement of self and potentially the idea are the objectives.

James: Thank you for raising such perspective.
You are right. I can see now how such would raise the ire and will strive to direct inquires and conversations more directly.
My intent was merely to leverage such a forum thread to gain added perspective in a civil way, not stir up any negative dust.
Just looking to promote further engaging conversations about and gauge from more experienced members what reactions and/or opinions might be. Thanks much for the contributions. They really help.
I am not in any way critiquing and/or calling anyone’s children ugly…haha Sometimes my attempts at humor fail involving the whole sign my petition and vote for me verbiage….
Underlying it, is my need to create and define forms of income streams. So more of plea for work to focus on such a project that I could be passionate doing while I strive to fuel my ideation to be self-sustaining.
Part of the value of any forum is the analysis and the trending gained from the member community base that bubbles up. For me, forums have become the best way to glean various things and build relationships with other members of a similar ideation mindset.
Thanks again all.

Hi Ron,
I agree. There all kinds of options. With the experience fresh in my mind, just looking to explore such option thoughts to better capitalize on all the great EN energy that I can assume that was infused into such an idea submission of mine progressing to an R7. No bashing of EN, no brooding, just some framework feedback from an new “insider” that serves to improve both their model along with I perceive the community based upon my desire to better fuel potentially any recallibration and forward energy.
Presented two options to help both EN’s income statement along with the value potential of an offering for an inventor that has made it to R7:
1) Offset such EN costs associate with the more extensive effort performed already toward my specific idea so I gain produced materials. No further EN labor costs involved. Just access to the material produced to serve for forward development
2) Provide added payment involving more direct forms of time associated with a limited walk through if I so opted if such a choice was available.
I personally would be content with paying for #1 to enable better refinement for either resubmission or other direct avenues. Outside of my own darkened guesswork, the idea where is was in my mind is still back on 3/11, before the submission deadline.
We live in the internet and cloud computing age…it is really nothing to gear the postings of such work in a secure forum that EN uses, but can at least be open and transparent to such a proposed premium insider arrangement. I see this as only improving things for all. I use Google Docs as the simpliest and free form to enable such access and view.
Us inventor types are always seeking to improve things based upon our experiences are we not? No one has pointed out any area yet involving the new licensing program in development or newly launched and my intention will certainly be to explore and understand it better as I attempt to build further relational capital at EN.
Offline: I will provide you the names of a couple of contacts that I have in hopes it helps you carry your own efforts forward.
Best of success for the remaining R8s. Keep us posted with how you do.

Hey Chappy/John: I think it all about perspectives. We all have our own. If I were going to critique EN, I would ask that EN be more specific about the perspective of the search sponsor. On the other hand, when seeking ideas it’s usually best to get as wide a spectrum as possible. I am not complaining or critiquing. I submitted what I thought was a good idea and still do. As I said I still have options, and I’m going to keep swinging the bat until I get a hit.

John,
I like your energy and that is why we can have a civil conversation about this.
Using the forums to “Rally-The-Troops” in order to create change is simply bad form. This is not the first time this subject has come up and the first couple of times EN team members actually got involved in the conversation to hopefully help us understand why things are the way they are.
If you have a suggestion then you should go directly to Matt or Chris or possibly even Louis. The great thing about EN is that they are transparent enough that you can get to the top without having to rally the troops.
Here is the thing… Band Width, License Law and Goodwill.
The easiest way to tick somebody off is to tell them their children are ugly the second easiest way is to say that their great idea sucks. Suppose it doesn’t suck and it just isn’t right for the sponsor and on top of that somebody pays for the extra review and EN says that it is a good idea “Just wait for the right search”. Then you wait an submit for the perfect search and they give the idea the G7… Then the sponsor doesn’t pick it up… BUMMER! Right? The most natural question is “Why did I pay for your opinion and you were not correct…?” “I want my money back!”
Do you see where there could be a little bit of drama in offering “Professional Opinion” on such a subjective matter?
Keep it simple is the motto here. Offering what you are suggesting above could be a “Pandora’s Box”. Too risky I would think.

Hey John: I have 30 plus years in construction. I have seen all of the gadgets and accessories. I chose to submit an accessory I would buy in a heart beat. Perhaps the Rexon execs. aren’t looking at that aspect. EN goes in with what they feel has the best chance to be chosen. I recall watching a Modern Marvels episode about Coke changing their recipe and how they lost a lot of loyal customers, sometimes the corporation bosses make mistakes. The point is I got a nearly free patent search and I still have options. I have already re-submitted to EE, I am re-evaluating my idea for corrections to make it more appealing. I am also considering a prov. patent and approaching Makita tools or other manufacturers. You too have options, exercise them!

Ron: Not you too. Sounds like a mere what do they have time to cover within the time they have sort of decision given the day of.
Hey, I know based on the status quo of what sounds like the set rules involving R8 feeback and all…and not looking for any freebies…but it simply does not make sense for such added energy by EN to just be “fully” shelved when getting to an R7. Understand their needs to take the best fitting forward to present to Rexon and all…
However, here are a couple of quick element views involving a desired state I prefer to see one day to enhance the EN model:
Perhaps there could be two future choice options offered in such situations:
1) Based on point level balances or added membership payout, provide whatever matter produced additionally by EN in a secure area. Heck no grand collaboration tools are needed, just Google’s secure share capabilities to allow a static posting of all material. docs, pics, audios of review meetings, videos…whatever, to provide what I will call a “premium insider” the opp. to learn without any further interaction from EN.
or
2) In addition to such an offering stated above, allowing the “premium insider” or perhaps group of “premium insiders” the ability to reimburse and pay EN to gain both added work plus some set defined consultative post game analysis. Perhaps have designated “premium insiders” serve in such roles via a certification training program to administer such walk-thrus.
Given my newbie experience to this R7 point, the term “insider” feels like everything is flipped. From a marketing standpoint, yes, I know there are added discounts and differing little perks but…I would really like to see an elevation of the truer meaning of what an “insider” should be about rather than being an insider of a forum with many other relatively blind mice. No offense to you high rollers with the high balances as I have learned bits from all with the Q&A amongst us but we really are in dark for having reach such a stage.
Would love to see and even lead such an evolution of the EN model to involve this. Layer in various other things I would love to see to create further enablement and efficiences to help such reach points in ideation split off but most importantly continue with a dynamic alternative that still furthers the momentum of energy derived versus a sit and wait for the right product search and press a “restart” button.
I am not so emotionally tied to my own brainfart here. If such a dynamic alternative existed, where parameters of other member participation is facilated, I would be just as game to rank the R7s objectively and share in the $ risk to take the best forward.
Simply more passionate about seeing such innovation get further proactivated shots at success in more dynamic ways and creative ways where such participation itself has various forms of shared rewards amongst the players willing to share in the risk. Yes, I have set ideas involving this too.
Please be sure to sign my petition to back me in such a paid development platform bolt-on and faciltation role. Alternatively, just cast your votes for me across the forum to help create a louder squeaky wheel…
:-)
Not to take away from you G7s…today’s your day completely in the sun. Just something served up for all as you wait it out in the virtual green room. Best of Success!

How many of us do you think are in the same boat? At least you and I are – somewhat.
My recent Skil R8 is now a Rexon G7. But my submissions were identical for both searches, because I don’t receive feedback. I’m only in this thing part time, as I have so many other intense demands on my attention, and I don’t have many inventions that align well with EN’s business model. It’s my 4th attempt with this same idea. So far, the record with this one is 2R8’s, an R5, and now the G7.

Tim,
Yeah, it is my Skil submission. I took the R8 feedback from SKIL and made the adjustments… took away and added some features.
I am letting you all know… adjust your submissions based on R8 feedback! I got a good reaction from Scott for making adjustments. EN keeps doors open… companies like SKIL want to see the best submissions on a regular basis. I haven’t heard to confirm, but there is a chance for my R8 to be reconsidered after these adjustments.
Again, I don’t know anything for certain yet… my hope is that the modifications are epic or revolutionary enough to warrant reconsideration. Just never give up the good fight.

Great energy John! And Todd, you are always so supportive of everybody else. Sorry for the X’s, but rest assured your ideas are good.
EN cannot afford the time and energy to perform patent searches without good cause.
My 2 G6’s resulted in 1 R7 and 1 G7…my first thought was why not both, but as I studied the companies criteria, I could see the reasoning behind the decisions. I know that my R7 is a great idea and place the X on search parameters. With this in mind, I have no doubt that the other R7s here are more likely than not, just as great…continue to believe in and pursue your dreams as they are proving true!

Thanks Tim and Congrats again on another G7!
Is there any written info about somewhere regarding the licensing program? My guess is Roger Brown is leading that? Know the EN folks have their hands full.
Without missing a beat, I choose to change gears to allow better forward motion. From my perspective, with such review and work unseen on the idea, wish to figure out how to further and utilize any evolved collective minds involving concept toward the further at least the basic IP protection with the USPTO and have within the program and/or contact others as the concept can serve as an accessory stand alone item and does not have to be integrated with any new power tools.
Curious if new program only allows if already patent protected or potentially EN will front such cost. Would certainly like to apprentice and play up my own sales role to try to capitalize upon the DIY Center direct contacts I have recently made. Not ready to merely kick out the idea in a community like Quirky where there is no behind the door submission process and better IP respect and sensitivity.
Won’t go OCD but certainly such validation to G6 suggests other avenue exploration.
Everyone please root for my Daymond John Innovation Fund G3 contender now!
Best of luck to the remaining 4 — known out of the woodwork!

My earlier post game analysis in trying to read between lines….
TJM – Figured since you were first to get G6 and was easier since most review performed already for Skil you would get another R7, but since it appeared I got the 2nd G6, thought perhaps the beauty of mine was in the simplicity and uniqueness factor was reason for the second G6 therefore uping the odds a tad of a least gaining an G7 before getting any X…
Lesson learned, one can’t mess with trying to read between the lines…
…plus, catnip and a can of tuna does not help.
========
Sure would love to learn how my idea may have evolved and if EN holds any interest outside of the product search to manufacture an and comercialize given various relationships…or is this just it and I must wait out another form of fitting product search for re-submission? Anyone? Please advise.
