protection and the ability to possibly protect are always looked at in every item that anyone considers trying to market, but not always the deciding factor.

Have to remember catalog is a unique business as the ability to WOW someone quickly with a picture and make them connect to the item is a challenge…especially if you are flying on a plane and were up really early !!

So wouldn’t say it was a requirement for Skymall, but as always something to consider. The ability to protect an item is a chief consideration for many companies, but not sole factor.

Presentation date June 7th as they had some folks that were not able to attend May 31st due to schedule changes on their end.

Sorry Laura, the one that is G6 for skymall does have a PPA on it, you might be right??

Have a couple stuck at G3 for a long time now. Maybe they pushed back presentation to catch up. Other then those I got two R4 and two R5. I think this will be a hard search to get one to go G7 for presentation

Actually I am feeling pretty guilty about this .guys … After I mentioned Snapware early this am .. everything sorta went south for me as well .. R5 along with many others here at the Mall !! .. … Opps !!! Sometimes rattling the cage does more than just stirr up the dust !!!

They seem to be making some moves in this latest challenge, unfortunately, not in my favour. I just got FOUR – yes 4 R4’s. That really stung…..But I also got an G5 in the Franco Manufacturing search, yeah!

I am a newbie and have a question on this. SkyMall has a huge range of products it sells but it doesn’t produce these things. A product would be made by a manufacturer. So how would this work? If SkyMall likes a product, EN would have to deal with a manufacturer who would make the product and it might be licensed to the manufacturer not SkyMall, right? It doesn’t appear that SkyMall has any exclusivity to the products it sells. Just curious how things go here .

Welcome Fred and Avi. @Melinda, you are correct in that EN brought out a second search for Skymall on the heels of the first search.
This is not typically the way it goes (i have never seen it before), but I am sure they had their reasons. Good reasons I’m sure. Maybe Skymall just needed more product ideas in the pipeline and requested it, but that is just speculation. I wouldn’t let it prevent me from submitting to this second search. I am sure your idea will get the same attention as in any other search. Good luck!

OK I am very confused. Do I have this right. They have not set a presentation for the search ending in January but they have another search getting ready to end in about a week? This does not sound right and why would EN allow a search to end when the sponsor has not even looked at the ideas from Jan? Or am I reading this thread incorrectly. I am just curiuos, I was getting ready to submit an idea to skymall. Thanks

Todd, My other product was not licensed. I use a contract manufacturer in the U.S and make it myself and sell it on my site as well as in bulk to major medical suppliers in the U.S. who then sell it to their distributors. Feel free to check it out. It’s on my site at statgeartools.com It’s the device which attaches medical tape to stethoscopes.

if you truly believe in your product then you can do the same. However, it is expensive and more risky. My current product is a lot more expensive to produce and may be a tough sell to retail chains not bec it’s not a great product idea but bec I have found that even with an awesome product, it’s soooo hard to get in touch with the right people. EN apparently has these connections and that’s why I’m hoping to license it rather than going about it myself this round!
