Statistics please?

Could someone share any statistics as to how many typical entries per LPS and how many G8’s are awarded? Do we compete ideas with the Edison Nation Team members as well as the general community? Also, how many G7s are typically presented to the customer per LPS? I like to weigh odds because it takes a lot of time and effort, and some money, to submit ideas. I’m trying to see if its worth submitting my “hail mary” ideas that I can come up with daily, or just my few “bet the farm” ideas that I get maybe once or twice a year.

Hello Juan,

We do not share the number of submission we receive for Live Product Searches because it is proprietary business information. If you use the Search feature int he forums with the keyword “Finalists” you will get an idea of how many finalists we typically present. Edison Nation has been hosting Live Product Searches for just over a year, and so far 22 inventions have been selected. Also, Edison Nation team members are not allowed to submit ideas to Live Product Searches.

It may be beneficial for you to become a Gold Member. As a Gold Member, you can continually submit your ideas to any additional Live Product Search with no additional fee!

Other benefits of Gold Membership include:

Doesn’t Edison Nation have to comply to the The American Inventors Protection Act of 1999? The law states that all Invention Promotion companies need to disclose the following information:

  • how many inventions it has evaluated;
  • how many of those inventions got positive or negative evaluations (legitimate companies will have a fairly low acceptance rate, usually under 5%);
  • its total number of customers;
  • how many of those customers received a net financial profit from the promoter’s services (that is, the number of clients who made more money from their invention than they paid to the company); and
  • how many of those customers have licensed their inventions due to the promoter’s services (if the success rate is too low, between 2 and 5%, the company’s services may not be worth your out-of-pocket expenses).

No, because we are not an invention promotion company as defined by the Act.

All I know is this…I KNOW Edison Nation as well as I and anyone else trying to sell a product, with exception to Wal-Mart and Amazon, has been having a very hard time the past few years.

I see many ask Edison Nation for their successes in the past few years. To be honest…who has been successful in the past few years? My invention Handi-Straps literally turns people into Superpeople and that goes for the seniors, handicapped and women we sell to also.

My sales numbers SUCK…worldwide…not just in the U.S. This is a DEPRESSION we are in.

I will say this. I am a fan of Edison Nation. It is the best option for most inventors here…and look for them to be a powerhouse and a major player when the smoke clears in this economy…and look for many great success stories to come in the future.

If you think selling anything is hard these days…you just could not imagine how hard selling a new product is if you have never tried.

Don’t ask for impressive sales numbers from Edison Nation. Nobody is having success. Just look at how many bailouts our car manufacturers needed to stay alive…and they have a VERY NECESSARY product!!!

ALL companies that bring products to market hit the same lows as the car manufacturers. Nobody wants to expose those numbers so be polite and respectful and don’t ask. I won’t tell you my ugly numbers.

I had to stretch them on camera with the Discovery Channel and refused coverage by Entrepreneur Magazine because I would not expose my numbers. Like I did say on the Discovery show…“Only toilet paper and bombs are selling these days”

I also know that Edison Nation/Everyday Edison/Inventors Digest has helped me a number of times and always offer from time to time when they know for sure I am off doing my own thing and they won’t be making a dime off me. I will also attend their casting calls just to be there if I don’t have anything to submit because I had a BLAST at the meeting. All good people there.

Ron,

I like the way you shamelessly plug your handi-strap invention whenever you get a chance :-)

I don’t mean to be a pain by asking for company statistics. Obviously If I approach IBM or Toyota and ask for statistics I’ll get the one-finger salute. I was assuming Edison Nation was an invention promotion company which are governed by statutory law; after all we do pay one way or another for a type of service, so to speak. Unfortunately their is a lot of thievery in this field as many of us know. Some people admit to posting many ideas, have gold membership, etc.; this amount to hundreds of us $ per year.

Besides, I have two LPS submissions that have been stuck on G3 for ever and I’m getting irritable…

Many thanks for your patience EN.

Juan, that’s funny… I didn’t even realize Ron had an invention :)

Don’t worry about your G3 ideas. If there isn’t a presentation date scheduled they may sit there for a while. But, they will move. Best wishes to you.

Juan…I talk alot on here…with knowledge studied for 20 years. I also spend much time here because Inventors Digest and Louis Foreman personally wanted to see my story in his magazine when he knew I am past handing off my invention to his organization.

In return, I help MANY here with accurate helpful information.

Now Juan…I have sold to Boeing, Ford, every division of military including Coast Guard, EMS around the world and to people in countries I did not know existed. The White House is even reviewing Handi-Straps and it’s potential impact. One of the President’s czars is reviewing. We talk periodically. I do not need to here sales or exposure from here when my invention is going to be on a TV show again in a couple weeks.

I put my information here to “back up the mouth” To show people my credentials and also what I am doing so if anyone else wants to do things the way I am they can ask.

The worst thing one could encounter in a place like this forum is a person talking too much without explaining what they are doing with themselves to prove they are worthy to give out advice to people.

Now, further for your information. My manufacturer sells to Georgia-Pacific toilet paper manufacturing plant. The foreman told my manufacturer they don’t know what is going on, their toilet paper sales are way down.

If toilet paper sales are way down, how could you, I, Edison Nation find good success bringing a new product to market? It is that tough out there…but I’d bet Edison Nation will be a major player when the economy comes back…so will I.

I haven’t posted on here before, however do read a lot. I have been a member of EN since their inception. However I have been an inventor most of my life, and that’s a long time :). But I digress, if anyone wants to work with an “Invention Submission” company, I could put them in touch with one that RIPPED me off for $5,000.00. EN to the best of my knowledge makes NO claims they don’t back up. Just look at what the whole site has to offer for free. Believe me this site is a treasure and the best bang for you buck. HOWEVER you MUST submit inventions that you have DONE YOUR HOMEWORK on. A good idea is just not enough. In 1983 I had a good idea it was “Rope Lights”, how rich would I have been if EN had existed then. I had no where to go either when I had “Patent Pending” on washing machine & dryer pedestals. However, those serve to inspire me when I have my next “Good Idea”. A wise inventor knows it can take a VERY long time to BE an OVERNITE success.
Keep up the good work Ron, I enjoy reading ……………………..

Jaclyn,
If you watch much TV or even type the word invention in a search engine, “They will come to you”. They let you HIRE them to submit your idea to companies. That amounts to sending out unsolicited letters to maybe 5 companies trash cans. Those letters can cost you about $1000.00 EACH. They promise to help you get a patent pending….. That can cost about $10,000. Or you can do the same thing your self for a hundred dollars to the patent office, and 5 postage stamps. Do you want THEIR NAME?

Actually, EN is operating similar to a government agency like DARPA and SBIR that solicit open calls for ideas on solving a problem – except with the LPS your not trying to solve a specific problem. I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone else do this.

I tried talking to DARPA, SBIR, STTR but got nowhere even AFTER I had testing done with the Texas Governor’s office on how Handi-Straps can help the military. The testing proved to be major help for some military tasks and STILL those organizations would not give me the time of day, so any inventor’s here looking for their assistance…lotsa luck….you should always try, but don’t get your hopes up. Popular Mechanics even mentioned Handi-Straps on a DARPA funded project and they still didn’t pay no mind.

Thanks Michael and Millie for the kind comments. I am just here to help people really because obviously this country has to innovate it’s way out of this economic and loss of international power mess. Yes, we are losing credibility as a superpower quite rapidly.

I also just like to help people and watch them win “the race” I love the race horses and a little betting. I enjoy just as much if not more seeing a fellow inventor cross the line into success and hopefully they can create some U.S. jobs and even export their invention bringing assets into this country because we need the help now.

Thats awful, Millie.
I’m just waiting on the asotv search results and i’m trying to figure out what to do if i red x. if i am rejected, i’m going to file for a patent on my own w my uncle’s help (he’s an attorney),then i’m planning on submitting it to a certain inventor-friendly fitness company. i was just curious as to whether or not these “inventor-friendly” companies are to what everyone’s referring, i hope not. it would be a nightmare to have your idea stolen, but millie, that sounds pretty nightmare-ish as well.
:(
i wish dick’s or another sporting-goods company would approach EN…but i’m getting impatient and i want this thing to go to market as i’m sure everyone wants their products to as well. maybe i’ll start writing letters to their trash cans :)

Those straps look handy, people cannot pick up big objects usually because they cannot find their centre of gravity, the straps fill the gap it seems.
