Everybody,
We’re busy lining up several new Live Product Searches right now with all new retailers/manufacturers. I wanted to take a moment to ask you guys which retailers and manufacturers you would like to see participating? If enough people second your recommendation, we’ll go after them for you!

Can you go after more that one major retailer in a specific category or do you try and limit it to one?

Matt

I could list all the major retailers in those categories that I posted but I’m not so sure they are the BEST at working with inventors and have the best deals to offer.

I’ve heard that bigger retailers are “tight” with their royalty percentages so it might be better to go with a mid-level retailer.

I would like it if EN could scout out which retailers have the best packages to offer in each product catagory and then present them in a search.

For instance, for the toy companies, EN would call 5 major retailers and 5 mid-level retailers and see what they would be willing to offer the winners of a product search and then decide.

Tom,
Initially, we are focusing on one in each category.

Patrice,
Don’t worry about that. That’s why we’re here. Shoot for the stars with your ideal retailers.

Matt,
I’d like to see some health & wellness companies. Like Homedics, Contour Living, Core Products International, etc. Perhaps a maternity/pregnancy specialty company. I would be nice to make life ‘better’ for people not simply easier and more fun! That said, the Spencer’s Searches have been a lot of fun!

Thats cool, Matt even though i am a kid, i always paid attention to those lending tree commercials where banks fight for your money so, what if it was like that. EN brings the product up and then gets companies interested so that multiple companies are fighting for one product. Or you could just get two rival companies lured into one product.

Pet Products: Petco,Petsmart…Hyper Products http://www.hyper-products.com/index.html

Fun and Games: Whammo or any outdoor fun and water game companies

Fitness and Sports

Kitchenware Products

Grill and BBQ – Weber, and other grill companies.

Food related inventions.

I’m not sure of the companies that deal with all of these specific categories, but would be cool to see some of them make the searches.

Just a thought for you inventors with clothing in your invent box. 70% of Harley Davidson sells are from their clothing line. So if EE have a lot of inventors presenting clothes then EE should approach Harley Davison.

I know some of these companies have their own R&D and submission protocol, but I can’t afford a patent. I think that Edison Nation would be the best agent ever. Matt, Thanks for asking. Mine is a dental product that has a GREAT story. I’d love a chance to drum up some excitement on an infomercial. It could also be bundled with other health products.

I see products in this group in Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Brookstone. But I can also see it for sale in Toys-R-Us.

Bottom line? I hope you have a healthcare products Live Search with all the major players. Even companies that passed on a concept previously may revisit it because the market has changed and the decision-makers have changed.

Thank you for your help earlier today with my opting-in computer glitch. You never became impatient or frustrated and I appreciate that consideration.

Matt…take this thought seriously. Edison Nation is making a historical stride. A movement to bring together independent inventors for a surge of new inventions for the benefit of all around here.

You need more NOISE!!!! You need MEDIA….PUBLICITY!

What do you think I’m doing? Mr. Thickhead with MY invention…mine mine mine?

I’m creating leverage. Screw chasing them down and stand there while they try to rape me. I’m waiting for them to come to me; retailers etc. Home Depot headquarters, Amazon and alot more look at my website all the time. Let them keep looking…when they call me, I have the ball!

If anyone knows enough about this, there are all different deals retailers give. Some vendors get red carpets and some get the bottom most dustiest spot.

It is time Edison Nation focuses on FREE PUBLICITY. Let the retailers come to OUR windows and look in.

Orca Communications was bashed here and I am the one that suggesting they come here because they are a tool that inventors MUST have. Even if inventors still come to Edison Nation. They have a following and look even sweeter.

Maybe Edison Nation should hire a publicist and get on the Big Idea, some of these talk shows, Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, claiming a new system to bring U.S. inventors into the limelight.

I know your plans…see…I’m smart. You guys wanna kick aside the scam invention submission companies who are making 500 mil a year. That will give you the spotlight.

I say get a publicist, make some news, get this thing into mainstream, and have ALL the retailers come snooping.

I’d like to see these retailers conduct live product searches:

Petco
*Babies R Us

Toys R Us
***Target/Walmart/Sears/Kohl’s

Matt, will these searches by retailers most likely be very broad and open to all kinds of ideas? For example, when I say I want Target to conduct a search – I may be wanting to submit my idea for a kitchen appliance…whereas someone else wants Target to conduct a search to submit their auto accessory. Do you think these retailers will be open to anything and everything…..or do you think these searches will be more narrowly defined? Thanks, as always, for your help! Stephanie

Hi Guys,
Keep them coming…

Stephanie,
Retailers will pick their searches. I anticipate some will be really defined (like the current WestPoint search) and others will be really broad (like that first Spencer’s search).

Jerry,
WestPoint is technically a manufacturer. We’re working on two others right now – just need for the contracts to be signed off by all the lawyers.

Ron,
We have a PR team of 4 already in-house. The Big Idea isn’t real excited about us because they see us as competition since we have a televison show. We have some sort of media coverage somewhere in the US just about every single day. Sometimes it’s for products that we’re working on, other times it’s Edison Nation. No question we need more for Edison Nation. If anybody out there has friends in the media, tell them about us. Give them my contact info and I’d love to tell them our story.

Thanks!
