Thanks John N. they have a cool mini-glider, and a snow sculpture contest, maybe I might give it a try. I like the mini-glider as much as your avatar, which is a lot. Thanks again.

Nice threads and very interesting, I have done two out of the three in the last year. I was doing the fiber optic for use in a starlight ceiling in what was to become a nice but more importantly cheap movie/media room. In the end I found that using old fiber optic Christmas trees were the cheapest way for my DIY project, plus the trees came with the lights I needed (saved over $800). Now is also the perfect time to get them on sale or from Craig’s list. The vacuum form I built with an old toaster oven, a Five gallon bucket that I cut a hole in to receive a shopvac, reinforced pegboard glued to the top. I have used it more than a few times. I now have plexi molds that will last for years, very handy item at times. I am glad you brought this topic back to the top.
Now I need to find an old printer.

Interesting stuff, I didn’t know you could do stuff like that yourself. Thank you, if Edison doesn’t work out, on to DIY. You are packed full of information Kosmo, what is your secret, I know its the lime hat on that cat of yours.

Weekend Project: Make a Vacuum Former
Kipkay has been making instructional DIY videos for many years. All of his videos provide simple instructions that are easy-to-follow. I am a Kipkay fan and watched all of his videos when he was at the Metacafe web site. It looks like he’s now working for the people at Make, my favorite DIY group. Here’s KipKay’s video of a cheap and easy way to make 3D plastic forms like Stormtrooper costumes and tons of other things. Cost: around $20.

“This video is an introduction to future videos on how to make your own optical fiber cable for indoor lighting applications. I imagine it could be used for short data transfers but will not say for sure."
