Hello brilliant people!
Quick couple of questions. Thanks in advance for your time. I have an old R8 that has since evolved into a completely new product. This new version is covered under 2 separate provisional patents and was removed from my EN vault as I set out to try and forge some new relationships. Currently, one of the largest names in the business for my product category is “considering” moving forward with a licensing agreement pending presentation feedback from their big box retail buyers. (Many thanks to Roger Brown’s business model).
Does anyone know if:
A. it is breaking any EN rules to post a short video here in the forums in hopes that a manufacturer/distributor or EN member may be able to help move these forward with additional companies or networking opportunities? I am not selling anything, as I only own the IP and possess prototypes. My goal is to partner with a company and just take a small royalty.
B. this forum has any actual manufacturer/distributor visitors who come here to try and locate new ideas?
C. Are there any negatives to posting my video here, in a public forum, before my permanent patent is approved?
It is kind of funny actually….I want to finally scream this product from the rooftops – I honestly believe it is ready; I only need one person with the right connections to see the product and it could very easily be “game on”. Hmmmm……
The company I am working with is not asking for exclusive rights, so no conflict there.
All feedback appreciated.
I am a long time fan and participant of EN, a veteran of a number of R8s (so close)…..For some reason it appears my account was deleted and I am no longer able to log in under my old name (Cowbell), thus the new I.D.; however, I am very familiar with EN, the process, many of the wonderful members here, and that is the reason I returned here to post this question. Just wondering if by posting my product video here, could it possibly catch the eye directly of a retail buyer, manufacturer, etc.
Thank you!

Thanks Matt. I see some great new things here! I am thinking perhaps that the innovation fund may be another possible option and reading up on it now. Thanks for the reply.
@Greg- Thanks! And a huge CONGRATS to you! You certainly deserve it! Maybe we can catch up soon!
@Kevin/Patricia- Will def keep everyone updated on progress! I am reading up on the newest EN search options and it is looking like I may be eligible for some of those – Thanks!

Hi Greg! Nice to see you on the site again :-) I just checked into your old username and it was marked as deleted for some reason. I just reactivated it: http://www.edisonnation.com/users/cowbell
Seeing this post reminded me that I owe you an email reply… look for that soon.
As far as the forum rules go, you are welcome to use the forums to promote your own inventions but please be warned that I’m sure there are many very untrustworthy individuals and companies lurking in the shadows who will reach out to you. There’s no warranty of safety from us if you attempt to go that route. Be careful!
As far as your question about promoting it before the patent issues, you’ll need to as your attorney. Personally, I’d wait until IP has issued.

Greg it is great to see you again! I was wondering what happened as I tried to contact you but got the message that you were deleted. Good Luck with your deal. I don’t have the answers to your questions but just wanted to say hey.

Thanks all – I think I will hold off until things get a step further with the interested parties. Hopefully, I can come back here and post the video and a success story in the near future! :)

Congratulations, Greg. And, smart guy to follow Roger’s “rules”.
I’m not sure if your product is protected enough with a PP: I think that while it is in that state, someone could still copy your idea and manufacture and sell. You wouldn’t be able to do anything about it until you got the patent but you probably wouldn’t be able to afford the Cease and Desist order and the fight. And then, I think that all cease & desist does is make them stop manufacturing – what is already ‘out there’ remains ‘out there’. But, I could be wrong.

Hi Greg,
In addition to posting here and receiving comments, which is a good idea, you could also contact the support at EN to get a more definite and specific answer.
Take care and best for you and your invention(s)!
