MFG.com is the place to go!!

From prototypes to million piece runs, this is the most efficient way to source locally or around the globe.

MFG.com is an online marketplace that saves you time and money by instantly matching a buyer’s drawings and specifications to qualified suppliers. No more searching or worrying.

There is nothing like it out there. MFG.com creates efficiencies in the creation, distribution, tracking and awarding of RFQs for custom manufactured parts and assemblies by matching buyers and suppliers at an exact moment in time, when they need each other. Plus, our community rating system eliminates the risks associated with developing new business relationships.

Intelligent matching allows the buyer to get their parts more efficiently while enabling the supplier to make a profit because they are doing the work they do best. It’s a win-win!

And… it’s TOTALLY FREE for buyers. Suppliers pay an annual membership fee and we never charge commissions or transaction fees.

Corporate Profile

MFG.com, founded in 2000, is the largest online marketplace serving the global manufacturing community. Billions of dollars worth of discrete manufacturing services and industrial components are sourced online via MFG.com every year. We are successful because we provide proven success for both Buyers and Suppliers.

Our vision is to be the catalyst for the global manufacturing community to come together in an online environment and leverage the collective intelligence of the members to bring products to market faster, less expensively and more efficiently. We believe that for every company with a manufacturing need or challenge, an ideal supplier or uniquely prepared mind exists somewhere in the world. We are helping them find each other and do business together.

The key to our success is the critical mass of Buyers and Suppliers that have already joined the community and adopted MFG.com as their preferred way of doing business. Currently, MFG.com’s Buyer members use the service at no charge and Suppliers pay an annual subscription fee.

MFG.com is a privately held company that was founded in Atlanta, Georgia by Mitch Free, the current President and CEO.

What We Do
MFG.com has a proprietary on-demand platform that facilitates the complex process of sourcing and selling manufacturing services. The technology intelligently connects Buyers with Suppliers of manufacturing services while directing the collaboration, quoting, due diligence and analysis processes.

Buyers request quotes online that are instantly matched to Suppliers that have the right expertise and capacity at an exact moment in time. Buyers benefit from discovering the right Suppliers with minimal effort and Suppliers discover customers with an immediate manufacturing need that they otherwise would not have known about.

MFG.com supports over 300 manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, molding, casting, extrusions, forging, metal stamping and contract manufacturing of electronic components. If an item needs to be manufactured, it can be sourced through MFG.com.

Who We Service
Buyers
MFG.com services the buying community, which by definition is usually an OEM, engineer or purchasing professional that has the need for custom manufactured parts. The site serves as an online supplier relationship management tool that helps determine market pricing and saves Buyers time through helping them source smarter by becoming more efficient at creating, delivering and tracking the RFQ process. With MFG.com, Buyers get to market faster through effectively matching their requirements to a job shops capability, capacity and quality.

Suppliers
MFG.com provides Suppliers, typically contract manufacturers or job-shops, with direct access to Buyers worldwide that have an immediate need for custom manufacturing services. The site allows Suppliers to specify what types of jobs they are interested in and from there MFG.com helps match the Suppliers expertise with ideal Buyer opportunities. MFG.com also provides Suppliers with a multi-media dynamic web page that allows Suppliers to promote their business.

Very interesting business model Paul. It definitely makes sense. Can you offer an example or anecdote on how MFG.com can help the small inventor. And, how is the individual protected if they are patent pending? Thanks.

Hi Paul,

I’m giving them a try. Hopefully I’ll find someone to manufacture parts for me. I had to shut my website down due to too many orders. It would be great if this works out for me! Thanks for the info.

Paul,
In the interest of full disclosure, do you have any relationship to MFG.com?

hi rose:

review their website, and you can see the myriad ways they can help the small inventor.

if you are patent pending, then that’s plenty protection enough to use their services.

if you weren’t patent pending, then an NDA or CDA would be good to have the people who review your submission sign.

i hope i’ve answered your questions.

hi linda:

if you want a prototype of a product done very professionally, i would look into mfg.com or the yellow pages under ‘industrial design’ or ’ prototyping’, or ‘rapid prototyping’ on the internet.

i like working locally to be able to communicate more easily with the people doing a job for me.

you may have a college in your area with an ‘industrial design’ department. you can usually get students to do design work for you for about $20.00 an hour, and they have access to basic rapid prototyping machines in their departments, too.

i started off first with students, then after basic designs were completed, i went to the pros to develop my product design further into a very professional looking product

Definition of Industrial Design:
Industrial design is an applied art whereby the aesthetics and usability of mass-produced products may be improved for marketability and production. The role of an Industrial Designer is to create and execute design solutions towards problems of form, usability, user ergonomics, engineering, marketing, brand development and sales.

-hope this helps

I have been telling people about mfg.com for some time and use them for quotes. It is also a good way to find out if your product can be manufactured within a reasonable price. If your target price is say fifty dollars but all of the quotes come back higher, you can rest assured you will need to either redesign cheaper or sell higher. it is an excellent resource for people.
