Scott, so far I have gotten the best quote from Hartford, it looks like most offices do write it, just never needed it before. |

This might be a little late, but State Farm will write up a policy with out much hassle, it’s fairly affordable and no red tape. |

I can read a policy. Ask the agent/broker for a copy BEFORE you buy!!!! Send me a copy and we can discuss what you think you are getting and what you are ACTUALLY getting. The read is painful, but laymen will miss the…out clause, often. Just an offer……only important if there is a loss………. Take care, and the best to you Darwin, you have worked very diligently and with gusto. GB Many have a good reputation well deserved, but in a loss situation………pretty can be ugly. The old saying, buyer beware. Take care, by being careful. |

So I got my policy, and the cheapest bid was from a reputable company (at least I have heard of them). Even the guy who was bidding against them said so when I told him my decision. |

I see what you mean, I don’t think so, other wise how would all the importers work from home,,, Just call an agent and ask them, there are plenty of them so you can always go to another one. |

Darwin, Even though I don’t any manufacturing on premises, must i still have a separate address in an industrial zone for liability purposes? Currently I do not have a commercial zone address, as I do not actually do the manufacturing. Thanks again! Chris |

Chris, from my understanding, the fact that you have a mfg address means you are okay, my mfg address was a residential zone. |

Darwin, Quick question, what if I am outsourcing the actual manufacturing of my product? Do you still need an “industrial zone” address to get the liability policy if there is only shipping and handling done from the home premises? Thanks, Chris |

Thanks so much,,,, I did find one locally. This was very interesting, I had to go rent space in an industrial zone, they will not write a product liability policy for products produced in a residential based manufacturing facility.. It wasn’t a big deal because I have been planning the move for a couple months now, but I found that interesting. So, for fun, when I emailed the address/square footage info, I teased my agent, I said, by chance do you help your clients move? He was cool, he emailed me back,,, no but I can sure recommend a good mover….lol I love working with people who are serious about what they do but don’t take themselves too seriously. |

You will need a commercial liability policy with endorsements specific to your risk. You may also want to consider a commercial umbrella. |
