Retail purchase agreements.

Hello all. I am officially recovered from my first ever “RED X” experience here @ Edison Nation. Hurt like crap but, I am back with thicker skin…

My latest idea is to land some type of purchasing deal with a small retail store for my invention to use as leverage to a manufacturer in lieu of the up front cost it would cost to manufacture my product. Is this realistic?? And could anyone offer any direction if so?? If my terminology or logic is wrong, please feel free correct me.

I am bootstrapping the best way I can, just trying to keep my idea alive. THANKS!!

Leonard, Call, Call, Call and keep calling! I just licensed my first gig and I must have called 20 companies until I found the right one. It took less than 3 weeks to finalize the deal and they are manufacturing everything. Since closing the deal I have received 2 offers from other companies (ones I had previously called) but I have to stick with the original agreement as I gave them one year to get the product to market and they have a minimum guaranty to meet or I get the product back to license to the other interested companies. I thought about the retail route but the tooling costs were huge and the inventory would have required me getting outside financing, etc. It’s a win-win for all. Get to a manufacturer and let them pay the way!!! Good Luck.

Leonard, I just read this other thread with a similar question. Julie gave some great info you might find helpful.
