What is Story of Stuff?

From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns.

The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It’ll teach you something, it’ll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever.

Food for thought. Thanks for sharing that!

My eyes were opened when I visited England years back. We were guests at someone’s home and I could not find a trash can anywhere. I finally found one small waste basket sized bin in the kitchen. That was it, one can for the whole house. I really was intrigued with how they managed to only use one small can like that. One thing I did notice was that their kitchens weren’t overstocked with packaged goods. Their food was fresh and wrapped in paper. When we found soda the cans were tiny. We tourists even had trouble finding a trash can on the city streets. We have them all over here, but they were very hard to find there. It really did open my eyes to how much we consume in the US.
