One of the statistics I use on the pillowcase websites is that for every degree you turn down the thermostat, you can save 5% o the energy bill. There are other numbers in other statistics but I think I averaged it. Can’t remember that far back.

Yeah, it sounds green, and with lower fire liability that’s great. Can you point that out in your paperwork?

Hi, Julie. Sorry I mispelled your name last time. I revised the submission to include:

“Thickness of Materials
were exaggerated for
Illustration Purposes”

Thanks again

Good Morning. Thank you; Frank, Jullie, Kamala.

I am not getting into manufacturing. The project was actuallly conceived in response to a specific quest by a leading company in the industry. They evaluated it and committed to bring the product to storeshelves. But, nothing happened. Maybe they decided to go in another direction.

LIABILITY: Liability is actually a part of life in the modern world. McDonalds had to pay a huge amount of money because somebody got burned from a cup of coffee bought at one of their stores. It just comes down to insurance.

In any event, i humbly believe that fire risks are greatly reduced, if not fully eliminated.

Kamala, i don’t know about production costs. I know that electricity consumption will be greatly reduced. That is what makes it “GREEN

Again, electric blankets do entail a real fire risk. See: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml03/031...

Thanks again.

Nice idea, i’ve used electric blankets but never felt comfortable sleeping with it on. You will have a problem with fire hazard/liability. also is the cost way higher than the existing blankets?

Luis, How flexible is the blanket? How thick is it? If you are trying different fleeces, try Baum which you can buy in a yardage store. I use Baum’s WinterFleece for the Sleepy Head: no pilling which is very important for a bedding item. If you can’t find Baum WinterFleece and you haven’t already decided on some other fleece, I would be happy to send you a yard or two – whatever you need.

I have some literature in the files, in storage, and will look up something for you: your product reminded me of this product but I can’t remember anything else about it. (After all, I filed it ten years ago.)

Solar (mylar) Blankets retain up to 90% of a persons body heat. If that was sandwiched in the heat retention layer (to muffle the sound), the persons body heat would be enough to keep things nice and toasty for a long time AFTER the electricity was disconnected.

If the user went in and turned it on about 10 minutes before laying down, then once covered up, unplug it, they’d probably be set for the night.

Gortex is also an excellent fabric for retaining heat, though not as efficient as the mylar blanket.
