I recently did a marketing study with them and possibly a licensing contract and waiting for the results—wanted to know if anybody else has used them —-they are out of Minneapolis Minnesota

I had my experience with an Invention company about 3 years ago so I have nothing good to say about any of them…

check out this link and see for yourself I am not going to remark about a company I never used but I would never use them……

Well, they do have the UIA stamp of approval. Oh wait, he sits on the board, along with the co- founder of Invention Home, the VP of Absotutley New and a few more…so take that for what it’s worth.

I like the product review charge, “just to weed out the curious”, does that mean once they see you’re serious they’ll give that review money back to you?
I wonder if they’re willing to say how much experience their different departments have and what credentials the people who will be working on your account hold. Then get that in writing, of course.

You might be amazed at the lack of talent these kinds of places employ…amazed!

I’m with Ken ;-)

This was from a year ago – what name is Davidson using these days? Are they still in the game?

This was the basis for the Inventor’s Protection Act of 1999

http://www.davison54.com/disclosure.php

In 1997, the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, captioned F.T.C. v. Davison, 97-1278. As a result of the judge’s decision in the case, the judge has ordered us to make the following disclosures to you regarding our track record over the last five years in successfully marketing our clients’ products. You should read all of this information carefully before proceeding.
The total number of consumers who submitted new product ideas to Davison during the past five years is two hundred twenty nine thousand seven hundred thirty eight (229,738). Davison does not provide evaluation of commercial potential; thus, it has provided no positive or negative evaluation of this or any other product idea in the last five years. The total number of consumers who were offered a Pre-Inventegration? agreement (or similar contract for research services) is one hundred fifty seven thousand one hundred twenty two (157,122). The total number of consumers who were offered a Contingency Agreement (or other contract for licensing representation) is one hundred fifty seven thousand one hundred twenty two (157,122). The total number of consumers who purchased a Pre-Inventegration? Agreement or similar contract for research services is thirty five thousand one hundred forty three (35,143). The total number of consumers who signed a Contingency Agreement or other licensing representation agreement is thirty five thousand one hundred forty three (35,143). The total number of consumers who were offered a Product Sample Presentation Agreement (or any other contract for design services for a virtual or a product sample) is twenty five thousand one hundred thirty five (25,135). The number of consumers who signed a Product Sample Presentation Agreement or similar agreement is nine thousand eight hundred ninety five (9,895). The number of consumers who obtained a written license with a company that is not affiliated with Davison is one hundred ninety eight (198). The total number of consumers in the last five years who made more money in royalties than they paid, in total, under any and all agreements with Davison, is seven (7). The percentage of Davison’s income that came from royalties paid on licenses of consumers’ products is .001%.

Oh, here is the up to date information. This is what the law requires ALL invention promotion companies to provide prospect clients when asked.

You should read all of this information carefully before proceeding.

The total number of consumers who submitted new product ideas to Davison during the past five years is five hundred seventy thousand seven hundred ninety eight (570,798). Davison does not provide evaluation of commercial potential; thus, it has provided no positive or negative evaluation of this or any other product idea in the last five years. The total number of consumers who were offered a Pre-Development agreement (or similar contract for research services) is three hundred twenty six thousand one hundred ninety seven (326,197). The total number of consumers who were offered a Contingency Agreement (or other contract for licensing representation) is three hundred twenty six thousand one hundred ninety seven (326,197). The total number of consumers who purchased a Pre-Development Agreement or similar contract for research services is fifty thousand three hundred forty three (50,343). The total number of consumers who signed a Contingency Agreement or other licensing representation agreement is fifty thousand three hundred forty three (50,343). The total number of consumers who were offered a New Product Sample Agreement (or any other contract for design services for a virtual or a product sample) is thirty eight thousand three hundred ninety two (38,392). The number of consumers who signed a New Product Sample Agreement or similar agreement is thirteen thousand eight hundred twenty one (13,821). The number of consumers who obtained a written license with a company that is not affiliated with Davison is three hundred forty one (341). The total number of consumers in the last five years who made more money in royalties than they paid, in total, under any and all agreements with Davison, is fourteen (14). The percentage of Davison’s income that came from royalties paid on licenses of consumers’ products is .001%.

Numbers current as of January 21, 2010

I think that’s a .024% win rate for license deals and .041% win rate for inventors to make any money.

I have had some dealings with Lambert & Lambert in 09,this is what you need to know about them. L&L is a legit company they have a better business listing, how ever they have some questionable practices. They will give you a product review, well you will pay for it about $199.00 for this review it is very thrall but here is the catch, L&L will tell you up front the willingness to fund development of your concept will depend upon your review reserving a minimum review score of 92% from what I have been able to determine no one ever gets that minimum 92%. You get a well written report but you also now get a price list of what things will cost you from then on, I got an 89% on my review just enough to let me know they could help me if they wanted to but by this point I knew it was all about the money, companies will look at this report it can help you, but you will probably do better going at this on your own unless you have the money to spend to chase your idea with L&L help, I took my report and kept going, my idea is now patent pending. Good luck. P.S Contact me by email if you need any more info.

I made a submission to Lambert & Lambert, also got 89% on my review & a few positive remarks in the conclusion. What is apparent is that they use a ‘boiler plate’ checklist to review submisions. This is probably done by the office junior with an electronic signature by the head honcho. I have engaged another agent who is more hands on but the Draft report the office junior prepared was an adaptation of another one & made refrence to items not relavent to me! I am still awaiting a Final report so can’t make any recommendation though they are a bit tardy, been waiting 8 weeks.

If your patent is out of the ordinary (ie. not a product that can be sold by Walmart, Walgreens, ASOTV, etc.) it won’t make the cut as the marketability aspect becomes subjective.

My advise would be to research agents who specialise in your area. Many advertise in Inventors Digest, Inventor Spot, IPWatchdog, etc.
