I am trying to find where I can find good market information on the mobile phone accessory market. Or a good starting point to work from. Thanks for your help in advance!

Dunn & Bradstreet has a website called zapdata.com that offers a variety of reports at reasonable prices ($5 to $10). They are a great source for demographics, but also for contact info and business officers names and phone numbers.

Thank you all very much, I’m trying to gather this information so when I make my presentation to a potential licensee, I will have done my homework.

I’m not sure where you’ve checked already so this may be old news…I start with trade groups for my industry. I simply type the name of the industry followed by the phrase ‘trade group’ and usually get many qualified hits. The trade groups generally have publications and trade journals that post trends, stats, and market data, and sometimes this info is picked up by other news gathering sites. It can be time consuming, but if you’re goal is to save money by doing it yourself I think there could be a lot of market data out there. Especially given the huge market of mobile phones and mobile devices. A quick glance at results by searching “Market Research cellular accessories” turned up some specific data. If money is not a factor, another option is companies that compile and sell Market Research. Finally, if you’re looking for specific and fairly narrow data, another site I’ve had good success with is www.uclue.com You can search the existing data for free. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, specific market data can often be compiled for you for as little as $30-$99. It’s a pay site, but research is conducted by ‘free agents’ and it’s like priceline.com because you get to name the price you’re willing to pay for the type of information you’re looking for. Good Luck!

A tip of the iceberg I can think of herein is when Matt S from EN was one of the first humans to have that “shorting” problem with the new Iphone a few months ago. He brought it to the forums here, and sparked a lot of Iphone talk. I just searched (green button top right) matt s iphone and there are a lot of links to keep you running around for awhile…links to apple accessories, medl, evernote, etc.
Happy hunting!
