Thanks, everybody who responded and viewed the presentation.
I’m not sure how the invention community might benefit from this. I built it to present my own ideas, and then got to thinking I might be able to market it as a service to others. It’s done in Flash, and it would be a stretch to think others could work in Flash. On the other hand, it could draw from simple text and jpg files anyone could create, but then it wouldn’t have animations and security would be a concern.
The other question is simply whether it’s even worth having something like this… I’ve been talking to an inventor who’s part of this community, who has had success just sending paper presentations to some companies. On the other hand, I’ve just read “How to License your Million Dollar Idea” by Harvey Reese, who’se pretty insistent that a presentation MUST be face-to-face.
So I guess I’ll put it out there for discussion: if there’s a way I can offer this engine to the invention community so that everyone can benefit, I’d be glad to do so. If there are others who want to pay me to create a similar presentation, I’d be glad to do that as well. If it can morph into an online tool that enables us to review each other’s ideas that would be great (I’d love to see this as part of EE gold membership…
If it leads to a discussion of the best way to present ideas to companies, I think that’s a VERY important discussion. Companies like EE have strong industry contacts. On the other hand, lots of invention promotion scams companies claim to do so, but in reality just send out bulk emails that result in NO response (or so I’ve read). So is it even worth having an online presentation?
