As this community is very supportive, I’m reaching out for any ideas/suggestions/referrals folks can offer. I’m about to become a “Statistic” in the REAL World… The company I work for (Major Defense Contractor) just lost our contract with the US Air Force due to Washington Budget cuts… At our site in Dayton Ohio, our entire site (1,000 folks) have been let go over the past few months. I am (1) of the last 114… But our Date is March 6th, 2012.
So I’m looking for some networking on the Job Front… My Background is Risk, Audit, Compliance. (20) years experience for Major Corp (most Finance) with an MBA and good references. I’m looking in the Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Louisville area but would be willing to travel anywhere… If anyone knows of any Full or Contract opportunities in this area, I would greatly appreciate a heads-up for them.

sorry to hear that, have you went on linkedin.com they have lots of contact. same thing happen with my hospital job and some folks on there was in that field so I got a lot of insight as to who was hiring, etc.. good luck

Mark, I haven’t been in your shoes of late, having just sold my own business recently. But one thing off the top I would recommend is a different hat, and maybe switch up the green tie.

Sorry to hear about the upcoming changes. And yes this is a great community to be part of and I feel you came to the right place for your situation.
I work for a large company that is HQ in Cleveland,OH. They have plants in several of the states you mentioned and in Central OH, Shelby, OH to be exact.

Don’t know if this suggestion would helpful to you, Mark…but my husband gets tons of job offers from all over the country ever since he listed his resume on Monsters.com quite awhile back!

Sorry to hear that Mark. You really have some great credentials!! Plus, your skills are needed in soooo many big companies! I’m confident that you’ll be snapped up! I’ll keep my eyes and ears open! In the meantime, don’t wait for a business to list an opening, contact companies first. Lots of businesses have an opening, or know they will in the near future—-and fill them without ever listing them.
