I need to get hold of some blue java bananas and get them up here to Canada for a cooking show. Does anyone have access to these bananas also called the ice cream banana for their creamy goodness and ice cream-like flavor. I saw a show once about a banana farm in California that grows a whole bunch of banana species. We can’t bring fruit across the border otherwise I’d grab some bananas and bring them back with me. Any ideas?

Thank you Philip, I contacted them. They ship only plants and don’t ship cross border but maybe they have some possible solutions. I think I will contact T&T as well and maybe they can be my licensed importers since they import all kinds of exotic fruit. P.S. John I haven’t found the tail yet but I have eaten the bung part just under the tail and so far it’s the most disgusting thing I’ve tried (except for Belute duck embyro which I will never eat again). |

Ralph, your topics never disappoint. I love the title. I’m intrigued by the thought of ice cream-like flavor and only wish I could be your border runner. Go bananas! Let us know what you come up with, ok? |

Hey Ralph, try: http://www.going-bananas.com/ If all else fails and you just need it for a cooking show, there are a lot of other types of bananas that look like the blue java. Just sayin… ;) |

The only banana not susceptible to Panama disease is the Cavendish which replaced the Gros Michel in the 50’s. Blue Javas are not commercially cultivated and need to come from special sources which i can’t find. As a Sunday tradition, me and toilet girl go to T&T every weekend to sample the grossest foods imaginable and we’re rarely disappointed. |

Ralf: Are you absolutely sure you can’t get them in Canada, try visiting your local T&T Supermarket. |
